  • I lost 100 pounds and I have some skin on my arms and my breasts are floppy and I have a panus. Oh, I'm a bit jowly. I have loose skin in other places but I think only I notice those -- hands, behind my calves. When I am very active and have a low body fat percentage, it bugs me a lot. But right now when I'm more filled…
  • Your insurance company sucks. Kick em in the pants for me. (metaphorically speaking)
  • I've never been one to lose a lot of weight from getting sick. I don't know why.
  • Haha. That's funny. I am trying to get my hubby on MFP. He hasn't had WLS (he needs it!) but I think even if he loses 10% of his body weight (30 pounds), it will make such a big difference in his health which is poor.
  • My BodyBug says I burn about 1700 on average. I think, based on what my scale days, that's probably a bit high. I have to guess how much I burn when I swim, which I do once a week. So maybe 1600.
  • I'm 4.5 years out. I think your head just gets into a different place and so you aren't on weight loss forums any more. I know sometimes I go a little mad reading about people obsessing of things that happened to me years ago that I can't really related to any more, so I understand why they go away. Plus, when I had this…
  • When I was losing, it has to be pretty good to be worth it. So a piece of candy on a special occasion? Sure. But two chocolate ears is a lot. I tried to keep my indulgences within my plan. I might go over my carb allotment for the day but not my calories at least. I think that worked better for me than putting whole foods…
  • That's why a bunch of people from Canada go to Mexico. They don't want to wait any more. Whereas here in the US, we go to Mexico because it's not covered by our particular policy at all. I looked at MX but two of the Fathers of the sleeve were in my backyard so I figured I'd stay in the area and benefit from their…
  • I like Syntrax Maxtrix Mint Cookie. I just use it for breakfast, nothing to do with working out. For recovery after working out, I use Fluid Recovery. I like the Chocolate Wave flavor the best. It's like drinking a Tootsie Roll.
  • My mom tried it and it didn't work for her. And the FDA went after the company for making claims they couldn't back up. Which given that their claims aren't that all that great is kind of sad.
  • There's a support thread for women over 50 you might like: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/919083-women-ages-50-for-march-2013
  • THANK YOU! This whole “fat burning zone” drives me insane. If their body fat was close to 0%, they'd be dead. Muscle starts to get burned as body fat gets lower but it gets burned a lot higher percentage than 0. Essential body fat in women is around 10-12% and men is 5-6% or so they say and studies of starvation show that…
  • Just hit them over the head with a shovel. That's what I do because my arms are strong from weight training. I guess you don't know many Zumba instructors. Ovens burn cake. I enjoy donuts. And bacon. (But not ice cream. Instant gut death for more than 1/2 a cup.)
  • Eh, I didn't love it. My thought was "typical guy. Thinks everything is a problem to be fixed." Dude, I was just venting.
  • Swimming!! I swam today again. I didn't do the bike ride after because I decided to be smart for once. My head isn't bothering me at all. I think this new dose of Topamax may finally do the trick!
  • They also get involved if the Nutrition Label isn't accurate. This is why the nutritional label says 41 g of carbs and the calories for the non-fiber carbs are all there too. This is mainly what made me think the 5 digestible carbs was nonsense early on.
  • The FTC cares about trusts and unfair trade practices. I think you mean the FDA.
  • You probably aren't eating a lot of fat either.
  • Mollie! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!
  • I think exercise can make up for a lot of poor choices. I also think that people exaggerate what it takes to eat healthy. You don't have to eat perfectly 100% of the time and a lot of foods that people demonize aren't really that horrible IMO especially in small quantities.
  • How much you lose has to do with your calorie deficit. How healthy you are has to do with what you eat. Now it's slightly more complicated than that. A lot of processed food is designed to make you eat more, for example. But, if you track your food and you DON'T eat more, then all it does is make you unhealthy, not fat.…
  • I was always suspicious of their claims because the calories on the box included most of the carbs they claimed weren't digested! escloflowne - people were only journaling the 5g that the box said were digested though and lowering the calories. So they need to know not to do that. Also, this pasta costs a lot more than…
  • March goals: Assistant coach my tri club's New to the Sport program. Swim or bike every weekend Get my Topamax dosage right
  • hey, everyone! I haven't been on this thread in ages because I gave up on keeping up at some point and then I stopped logging my food. I needed the break but I have to say that not logging my food turned into a big mistake! I'm on Topamax for my head and it helps a lot with my appetite and had made it easier to get these…
  • I think the honeymoon period is different things to different people. If you have something like gastric bypass, then for the first 18 to 36 months, you are malabsorbing calories and that makes weight loss easier. So some people call that the honeymoon period. Some people think of it as the first 6-12 months when you can…
  • I PROTEST. IT'S STILL FEBRUARY!! (Kidding)
  • I developed some mild lactose intolerance.
  • TUMS are calcium carbonate which is not well absorbed after WLS and increase our changes of getting kidney stones.
  • P.S. At the end of the program, I could run 25 minutes without stopping but that wasn't a 5k. So I just kept going adding 5 minutes every week until I could run a 5k without stopping.
  • I tried to run two different times in my life in the 80s and couldn't. I tried running with C25K in late 2008 and in March 2009, I ran my first 5k and I ran the whole thing! By the end of the season, I ran a Half-marathon! I just LOVE that program. I think it really works. Just take your time. It took me 12 weeks to get…
