  • I hate fish too. I will not eat it. There is vegan based Omega 3 supplements you can buy. But you are doing better than me- I won't go near seafood or any kind of fish whatsoever. Nope nope nope.... I just stick with chicken, and am happy with that. Looking forward to next paycheck where I will invest in some vitamins and…
  • Try using soy milk, vanilla flavored. It's delicious. I was really skeptical of it at first but it's great for smoothies. Hemp protein powder is great, although I think (I may be remembering incorrectly) that you cannot mix hemp protein with citrus. Wheat germ is good too. My go to smoothie is the following: Soy milk Mixed…
  • I am tracking my sugar intake, but I also look over the daily foods I eat and where the sugar is coming from. I am less concerned if it is coming from fruit. I try not to eat too much of it, I like vegetables better. I do like tracking it though just to get the full overview.
  • Without a doubt my face. It is just so round and is the first thing to widen outwards when I gain weight. Without a doubt that is the thing I look forward to most, having a jawline and chin again! I will also be happy to see my chest get smaller! But losing the double chin is by far the best reward for me personally!
  • GREAT attitude and GREAT thoughts Melissa, thank you for sharing :)
  • I know that from my own experience, people who have less to lose often have a harder time than people who have more to lose. It can be difficult to get the scale to budge. Otherwise, I think everyone here has great advice. Hang in there!
  • To me this actually makes a lot of sense. In today's world the standard for female appearances is absolutely ridiculous and unattainable. Even though we know a lot of the photos we see on magazine covers are photoshopped, that doesn't change the inner dialogue and mindset that we are not good enough. Maybe, like I have…
  • I am right with you! I think that the important thing is to be aware and be open to diet changes if you find out you do plateau. Another thing-I always find it kind of funny when people say, "It's just water." So!?! If the scale goes down, I am happy, water or not! That attitude comes from a quote I read attributed to Dr.…
  • I think people are generally very defensive about losing weight. Probably because everyone claims to have the "right" answers. When you are dedicating yourself and working hard on a personal weight loss plan, you can feel very vulnerable to criticism. I think the anger stems from insecurity and fear of doing the wrong…

  • Hello! I am a 35 year old SAHM. I live in Norway with my teenage son and hubby, and our wonderful Norwegian Forest Cat. I developed anorexia at a very young age and when I became pregnant I gained well over 75 lbs. Because of my many years of disordered eating my weight went up and down for years. Five years ago I went…
  • For me personally it has always led to me craving more sweets, eventually giving in to the cravings, because suddenly it's "okay" to have sweet things daily. I do much better having one Coke on Saturdays and enjoying that. I think it messes with your mind when you drink something sweet every day, at least in me it wakes up…
  • Great, thanks! I think we have greek yoghurt here in Norway. I will find out. Do you just eat it plain? Or maybe with celery, carrots, something dippable? I have just recently discovered cooking chicken filets in oven bags, which is wonderful. Then I have chicken filets to use in sandwiches and salads and wraps for a good…
  • Now I can't remember where I heard this-I believe it was via Dr. Oz on Oprah. He was talking about a simple method of determining whether you were small, normal or big boned. You take your index finger and encircle the left wrist (like you are making a bracelet with your fingers). If your index finger can touch your thumb…
  • I posted elsewhere about a similiar dilemma but got no replies (hint, hint, nudge, nudge :) Seriously though, I think I may have gotten the hang of it, after reading a lot of different tips and ideas. However, I don't really think it's helpful to write, "Well, you're fat, so obviously you know how to eat." I was logging…
  • Wow look at that! You look amazing!
  • Really sorry to hear you have had such a bad week. I like most of us have been there and I think that the above MFP's had some great advice. To add to that, I think that the biggest, most important thing is to identify what is going on with you emotionally. What are you eating away? What is really going on? Are you able to…
  • Yes, I always get obsessive, it's just how it is...however, I have learned to keep it mostly quiet and to myself. If someone comments on my weight loss, I will tell them I am trying to lose weight, but try not to talk about it too much, I know it's annoying to people who are not on a weight loss plan :)
  • Wow this is so inspiring! Thank YOU for posting! You have inspired me especially as my starting weight was almost 250 lbs at 5 foot 9 so it is great to see what is possible!
  • I started an eating plan in late 2009, and by May 2010 I had lost almost 30 pounds. The big problem I learned now was that I was far too afraid of food. I had to eat the exact same foods everyday or else I would panic. I was kind of obsessed. My motivations were not really based on good things either. I slowly gained it…
  • hi gillybumbler! I have been bedridden for awhile, and just starting to come out of it (I have ME and fibromyalgia). My methods of exercise are walking and swimming. I have water aerobics once a week for about 40 minutes. I absolutely love the water aerobics. It is so much fun. It might be something to look into. It is…
  • How many walnuts is a half cup? Maybe try eating 3 or 4 walnuts instead and see how you feel.
  • Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself, I am new here. I am a 35 year old female living in Norway, and have had ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and fibromyalgia for almost 5 years. Right now I have recently started a water aerobics class and loving it. I am feeling good about making some changes and definitely…
