What an A-Hole!!! are you sure they were talking about you? even still....they shouldn't be talking about anybody that way. we all exercise for the same reasons and GOOD FOR YOU for taking a positive and active direction for you, your physical and mental health, and your future! You don't have a problem and there is…

Almost completed 2 weeks and this weekend has been super difficult for me. we have a house full of kids this weekend, so maybe it's because I don't have my 'escape' to the back porch anymore and that's what I am really missing. a break from the noise and chaos!! lol

This is just another way to think about it, but if you were NETTING 1400 cals per day by eating back your 'crazy cardio' that you said you were doing, then you were probably eating around 1800-1900 cals per day anyway. :) So not much change....I really struggled with the last 5 lbs for months and finally saw the progress…

^^^^THIS!!!!!

12 days, 230 cigs not smoked and $103 saved. :) Still struggling mentally a bit, but my physical withdrawl symptoms are MUCH better!!
-
Ditto!

Yes, that happened to me too. I had read somewhere that in addition to stretching your stomach (like someone mentioned), you are also 'stoking the furnace'. You are fueling your body and firing up your metabolism. I have a hard time staying under 2000 cals per day at the moment!! LOL I think that maybe the cold weather has…

I am on day 11....:) I have been smoking since I was 16 with a 2 year break while pregnant and with a newborn. Picked it back up again about 6 years ago. A few years ago I tried Zyban, gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks and said 'forget it'!! lol This time, since I've been using MFP since June, have been pushing with heavy weights,…

When I learned about BMR and TDEE and figured out that I can eat a lot more and lose more consistantly than I had been doing. I also learned that it doesn't matter when I eat, or even what I eat, as long as I'm within my calorie and exercise goals consistently. When I learned that eating certain foods gave me more energy…

DITTO!!!

This is great! I actually recited it to myself this morning.....:)
-
Wow, that's quite a procedure! Congratulations on quitting smoking and your recovery from surgery! And yes, I've warned everyone that I haven't been feeling like 'myself' these past several days....my 8 year old daughter still asks me every morning if I'm 'mad from not smoking still'. haha

Yes, attitude is EVERYTHING!! I have had some pretty crazy withdrawl symptoms but I feel a little better every day! :)

I know that there are a lot of different approaches to fitness, but I can tell you what has worked best for me.... I have seen the best results with a combination of both. I usually lift 3 x per week and run on the off days 2-3 x per week. I really feel like the running has leaned me out a little more, and it's after I'd…

Well, I am on day 8 today....I still feel like I could slip and am constantly rattling off the health benefits to myself in my head. :) A few of us have quit around the same time. One of my friends is about 2 and a half weeks in, and I can't believe how well he's doing! He has quit several times in the past, but this time…

I actually feel better after a run when my legs are sore from bootcamp. I heard that it helps with eliminating the lactic acid from Your muscles therefore lessening the soreness :)

This!! Also, show him this app and explain how it works....there is plenty of room in a balanced diet for treats!

I don't eat breakfast until about 10:30 or 11am. I can't eat first thing in the morning. I feel like I'm wasting calories if I'm not enjoying it. haha I noticed that snacking in the evening is one of your habits, and I'm like that too. I just shifted my meals to times that work for me. I save enough calories in my day to…

Day 12....congrats!!! I'm on day 5 today. 12 days is quite an accomplishment! :) The fear of gaining weight has kept me from quitting for years! This time around I have been really careful to log everything I eat. I am making an effort to either take a brisk walk around the block, or do push ups to failure, or lunges and…

Good for you! I've had a cough all week too, but I'm pretty sure it's part of these virus' going around. Had it last week before I quit, but I'm sure that my lungs are pretty confused at the moment too so who knows??!! LOL When I quit when I found out I was pregnant years ago, I had really weaned myself down to one per day…

I can only tell you what has worked for me....I was originally on the 1200 cal per day diet, working out and netting anywhere from 400 -1200 cals per day. Lost 7 lbs very quickly, and then sat on a plateau for months! Couldn't figure out why. I did a whole bunch of research, found this group, knew that I should be eating…

I use the Scooby workshop calculator too...if you know your bodyfat % then you can use the Katch McCardle research model for a more accurate estimate. I am under the impression that you can interpret the activity level as 1-3, 3-5, 5-7 HOURS per week instead of days. that would put you in the 'heavy' activity category. try…

Only a week? My family will be happy to hear that :) I am slowly but surely starting to feel like a human being again, but definitely have my moments where my temper flares up completely out of nowhere!! Each day seems a little better since I got past day 2...that one was brutal!!! lol
-
You look amazing! I'm considering one as well....you are not a sell out! Loose skin is loose skin. Sometimes is just doesn't snap back and there's no amount of exercise, healthy diet, creams, pills, etc. that can change that! I'd be interested to hear how your recovery has been and to see how your scars heal as you go…

This!! I hit a major plateau after eating too little.....did some research, upped my cals, had some patience and now lose an average of half pound per week...(I'm only 2 lbs from goal).
-
This! Aim for 2000 - 2200 cals per day for a 15%-20% deficit. Don't worry too much at first about macro ratios, and more on just staying around your target calorie goal for the day. Remember, the healthier your choices, the more volume you get to eat (typically). Pay attention to your portions and make sure to weigh or…

Yep, so far so good! Day 4 today!! :)

Good morning ladies! Sounds like we are all moving in the right direction! :) Just wanted to let you in on something I saw last night. A good friend of ours has quit a week and a half ago. I was away and haven't seen him until last night. Anyway, the physical changes in him are AMAZING!! I honestly couldn't believe it! His…

save enough calories for your bedtime snack. contrary to what I used to believe, I have found that it really doesn't matter when I eat, as long as I don't over eat...I have a snack almost every evening and I've been losing just fine.
-
I did that....started MFP with the 1200 cals per day. Lost 7 lbs pretty quickly and stalled out for months after that! Couldn't figure out why. Did lots and lots of research on BMR / TDEE and upped my base calories to 1430 (just over BMR) and ate back all of my exercise calories. Started losing again. Then I got bored with…
