If you're weighing yourself at the same time of day each time (as you should), your weight can easily fluctuate 3 or 4 pounds in either direction, depending on water retention, bowel movements, yesterday's meals, etc. Most people set a goal range to stay within. Mine is 178-183.

Congrats from a fellow Georgian!

I have tried to teach my sons yes/no sir/ma'am, please, thank you, and excuse me. It's not easy, especially when the other parent doesn't share your beliefs and doesn't help you to train them in the same way.

OP: you have a great heart, and you did something wonderful. As long as you and your parents agree on your living situation, the share of bills and expenses, etc., you should feel free to spend your money the way that you see fit. You did well.

I have four cups of coffee (black) at home before heading to work, and usually another two cups at work. And, to clarify, I'm talking about the "cups" as measured on the side of the carafe. Two "cups" will fill up my coffee mug. I think there's always some confusion in these types of discussions, because some people use…

It is absolutely possible to lose weight without exercise. You will find, however, that most people will recommend exercise of some sort so that you are healthier when you reach your eventual goal weight.

This is my challenge as well. I know how to eat to gain weight; that's what I was doing in the first place! I know how to eat to lose weight; that's how I got back down to my goal weight. Now I have to learn to eat to maintain weight.

I've been in your shoes. Check out my profile and feel free to add me.

I increased by 100 daily calories per week, and stayed within 1-2 pounds of my goal weight the whole time.

From now on, I'm only breathing water. :)

Punched in your numbers here: http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bmr/ At a moderately active level, you should be eating something like 2200 calories a day.

I was "cured" of my cravings for Dairy Queen Blizzards in the same way.

I don't eat Quest bars, but this sentence in the article from the OP make me laugh: If that's not a scare-mongering tautology, I don't know what is. On a completely unrelated subject, MFP is a website that may or may not cause cancer, bowel disease, and DNA alterations.

I don't have a dog, but I do have a nasty Atlanta commute, so I feel your pain there!

My lifting playlist is the more typical hardcore rock, rap, etc. My cardio (treadmill) playlist is more happy stuff. Lots of reggae, lots of upbeat, feel-good songs.

More geek than nerd... love LOTR (and have read the books multiple times) and computer gaming.
