Almost everyone who has a lot to lose tries a smaller goal first, and then changes it, but if you haven't experienced it with friends at least, you probably think like OP. Not that most people would actually say something like that which would make others feel uncomfortable out loud...but I bet a part of most of you at 20…

You already said your doctor told you to eat and not count so that you do not restrict yourself. Even though most have no degree in what they talk about, almost no information about you or understanding about your situation and little to no knowledge, everyone on the internet has an opinion and will freely give it to…

Yup, for you and the OP, I burn that much some days, occasionally up to 3,000 cals when I hike for hours up/down mountains and hills, up about 3-4,000 feet elevation gain, and I do eat most of that back those days. It can be hard for some to eat that much (not really for me, PIZZA!) but thats why some people average their…

What would work better is telling people to run around naked outside when its cold: you would need to increase your aerobic activity substantially to keep warm (more than warming up a mall amount of ingested ice), and if you dont, you get sick and then spend calories fighting a virus and throwing up with loss of appetite:…

Dumbbells are fine, especially for you, but with the amount of questions and confusion you have, and the amount of "cooks stirring the pot", you should really find someone to show you what to do in real life, or write one person, or pick one of the programs mentioned and do it. Just start somewhere, don't worry about…

Ah tks. Whats the new group again? Not really done cutting, but I probably need to go a bit slower, more like 5lbs in a month now, since job focus and strength are more important at the moment. :)

Well, a mixed bag for me, I didn't beat my friend to our personal challenge in 5 weeks, but I did make the -10lbs part by June, and I sure did increase all strength markers, and even aerobic challenge that I didnt post here originally: 1.5mi trail with elevation gain of 2,042ft in 46mins, down from above 50mins! :)

Nice hike! I love the Mason lake part with my dogs. But Bandera is just a bit too much elevation/heat for my dogs when I tried too, they overheated like crazy and I decided to turn back. Snow would help though :)

Well if she eats 2 kilos of potatos in one sitting, one thing's for sure...she's full of it... :P

That's great, diet soda couldn't/wouldn't help you anyways, even if it did or didn't "poison you". Both "sides" here still don't seem to have gotten the idea yet: study shows only that if you take soda drinkers that can eat anything they want trying to lose weight and not tracking calories, restrict one group to no soda…

People majorly fail to read and interpret the study and put their own meanings into it. To make it simple, what it shows is only this: *IF* you are a soda drinker and you are trying to lose weight in a non calorie controlled diet, if you decide to switch to ONLY water, you will probably intake more calories than if you…

^^ Yup, exactly. But of course the reporters reporting on it always come to their own conclusion, rather than what the study really says, and people pass on the wrong info... Lots of issues with that study besides not saying what people so far seem to think it does... Since both water and soda have no calories, it may be…

You want no counting advice that kind of works (as long as you don't have a calorie surplus), try cutting out as much as possible breads/carbs/sodas/sweets/juices/cheeses, try to reduce portion sizes, exercise longer and more often than you think above and don't deprive yourself of anything on the "cut out as much as…

Right, because we all know exactly what happened in this relationship after hearing one side of an online story that someone posted for public comments/validity, so we really should feel very self righteous in defending all possible humor targeting this relationship...between people we don't know and made up a reality…

Waaaiiit a minute Scotty, I do have to point out that due to your relationship, you could have also been turned into a lesbian in a man's body, just like the person in the other topic! :P

Exercise is one thing that helps greatly in people who are pre-diabetic, is there a way to get him to do some kind of moderate exercise for 150 mins per week? Try something he may not think of as exercise, as simple as going on walks with him, biking, hiking, etc. Exercise can also help with increasing the appetite, and…

Be heavy, do hours of exercise such as hiking up elevation with weight: Daily Total / Goal 295 / 30 3,080 / 246 Yes, 3,000 cals in a day is far from typical, only for me from hiking up/down a mountain plus lifting.

Its really not that incredible of a change, first off, he's sticking out his stomach, and on the right he's sucking it in and flexing. Next, if you have good muscle mass to start and spend hours exercising, you can drop up to 10lbs in a week. Then throw in if you have no job other than to be a celebrity, wax yourself,…

I am working bacon, beer and chocolate into my diet almost each and every day for a month while I lose weight and gain strength at the same time. However, I eat at least 2x your calories and I count it in my calories. I find "cheat days" are generally not a good idea: just work it in somehow.

Its somewhat representative of the way French USED TO eat and be, but now they are more Americanized (Corporatized?) like the rest of the world. If you can truely adhere to general vague guidelines (and actually get food that is better quality), it does work, but its slow. I do something somewhat similar most of the time…

Hey I know! Let's all put our opinions here on a relationship we know nothing about except for a short presentation made by one side of the relationship and support it or trash it based on our own biases! Then we can attack the opinions that others made up in their heads about the relationship because they don't match…

And that ^ is exactly the category of people I expect who "injure themselves with a more serious injury" attempting 1RM. People who are completely unfamiliar with low rep sets suddenly trying them out of the blue would also be a higher risk, which sounds like the people you know who did. But if you keep your form, do a few…

Well, the fact that you think it might be somewhat to do with yourself and feeling attractive says a lot as well, maybe there is something to do with his side of things as well, but usually your subconscious mind has somewhat of an idea. ;) I'd bet a good part of it is self image, sometimes increase in weight can also…

Great job everyone! I've got 3lbs left myself, loss has slowed since I had switched focus to mostly strength goals, but I've got to get on this with only one week left!

You don't have to do weighted lunges at all if they cause you issues, unless you are a fencer. I also dislike them, if there is any knee weakness or injury or just altered mechanics from pre-worked muscles, it shows up here and is one of the exercises more prone to cause re-injury. I haven't done lunges in forever, and I'm…

Just ask politely when you aren't interrupting someone to ask, and don't take up too much of their time and many will be happy to help you.

Really there is no very solid proof *either way* that you can continue to do this or not, so I find the people talking as experts on this kind of annoying, especially when it discourages someone. However it is shown you CAN do this at first for certain as shown in several studies. The thing is it, will definitely be slower…

I've eaten raspberries in many things and tamarinds in curry, both are very good that way. Try them that way maybe instead of questionable extract/therapies that have not been shown to work.
