^ Thats what these campaigns seem to do, which I dont think is cool at all. Its fine if they want to wear that, and some guys like it, good for them. But why does ANY body type have to be promoted, especially unhealthy ones in the other body extreme from models? The ones they showed are obviously obese too, not just…

Oh yes McDonalds will make you fat if you eat it! If you don't work(it)out or you don't work it in. So yeah a little of both. McRib is not "just a fatty cut of meat" though. Its remnants of other meat processing and stabilizers and flavor enhancers mushed together and formed into a "patty" in all its styrofoam-like…

You can easily lose weight and gain strength through weight training at the same time, you just have to closely manage your protein intake, and insure your weight loss is at a slow rate. The strength gain will be slower than if you had a calorie surplus, but because you are starting out you will have big gains for a while…

I dont doubt it if you had Pizza Hut. Now go do it right next time: get an extra large Round Table King Arthur's Supreme, and then you can eat half and have more for later ;) Oh yeah, you may have to hike a mountain to make up for it too.

Well I was thinking overall in the US through time, which probably doesn't exactly apply to this, in retrospect I was thinking wrong, but the life expectancy has gone up considerably in recent times, it wasnt THAT long ago that life expectancy was a lot lower. I think its something like 75%+ now and going up all the time.…

The two biggest issues here are how women tend to "rate" attractiveness includes emotional attachment, and how men "rate" it tends to be more logical and "overall", and the second issue is what exactly are you rating? Its very easy to have a slightly different idea of what you are rating. For example, if I was asked to…

Not sure how to figure how much if any of that effect could be generational, but there are some very strong reasons that arent generational, including the fact that most people do not reach age 65, and the ones that don't are more likely to be ill and/or obese. At age 65 many more actually live alone, something like 25% of…

So wait a minute, if I eat an apple from a backyard apple tree and I don't wash it, then I have to count the calories?

Actually you are wrong, those methods all have problems with them which can lead to huge errors, and while hydrostatic is the most accurate of the ones I mentioned, it has a whole host of its own error sources including: how well can you empty your lungs, if you have eaten foods recently which produced more or less…

I hope nothing crawled up there, sounds like an Xfiles episode...

Of course the burn amount is different for everyone, so MFP estimate will be more accurate on average for bigger and stronger guys and less accurate for smaller and women. I find its pretty good for me, and most people could probably just reduce the time a bit before plugging it in and it would be fine. So if you just…

Definitely go to your doctor to get checked out, but if he can't find a problem, it isnt exactly a mystery or unusual to get some bruises starting out lifting weights, or even lifting weights regularly. Squats will 100% bruise the #$@! out of my shoulders every time, deadlifts can bruise your legs regularly, shrugs can too…

Yes what was said above: stretch after, not before. In fact recently a couple studies showed that stretching before weight training not only didn't help, but weakened the lift by about 6%, and a slightly higher percentage chance of injury was seen in those stretching before lifting. The stabilizers of the joint actually…

Hi Jessica. Well I can't see how tall you are on your profile, and I was never quite your weight, but assuming you are shorter than me at almost 6', I would not recommend just starting running. I did not start running first myself to conserve my knees, and I was always in relatively good shape, even at my highest weight I…

Oh I'm sorry, I guess reality broke more commandments, I guess our bodies must be steeped in "sin" :) So OK, to make it easily understandable and prove it to yourself, how about a project? You'll need an old washboard, and a flexible cloth measuring tape or some cloth. Take the washboard, place the cloth/flexible cloth…

No, its not a myth. You have a bag around you which is your skin. Increasing muscle will increase whats in the bag, smoothing out some of the wrinkles in the bag, the more thats inside. Just like the fat which stretched the skin out in the first place, its very simple. You dont have to be a musclehead to see a change…

Something is up with your scale, you definitely wont go up and down that much weight that fast. You are similar to my height and weight starting out, strength training really helps most for me and walking or hiking is my primary aerobic exercise. Just adding in some bodyweight exercises above can help a lot, but I would…

Hmm, well I could have posted this there, and I almost did, but then I felt it needed to be a separate topic for a good "alternate" effect, that mine would get lost in the chaos of two people fighting, "bring your weapons", funny gifs and "report it to the manager" hypersensitivity. Plus if I did, then I wouldn't have…

Naw, I couldn't be sarcastic could I? ;) Yeah, just kind of illustrating how if that girl with a similar post had actually asked to work in, it could have all turned out differently...I see this all the time and if you just work in with people, they are friendly, everyone has different tastes in music, so bring your own,…

I think Batman and Robin vs the Ambiguously Gay Duo would be the most entertaining battle to watch and I'm not even gay! Not that there's anything wrong with that...

What an odd public forum question. No matter what you feel on the subject, you shouldn't take anything here as a reason one way or another: if someone is going to answer you here, 99.99% of the time they are happy about it or trying to be happy about it and going to post to prove it. If someone doesn't think it was worth…

^^ that, so don't worry unless you keep them cut and exposed to air for a long time...and then it will probably just rot and you'll have to cut some more before you'd get close to losing "most" of it. That being said, cooking also can reduce some vitamins, again mostly a small amount (5-10%), more with nutrients like vit c…

Try some high powered LED lights and a dog, thats what got me hiking in the dark regularly.

It shouldnt really affect your weight loss, however, not sure why you are doing it in view of the positive health studies on coffee in lowering diabetesII, liver issues and Parkinsons. As long as you don't use much cream and sugar the coffee can actually help in weight loss too. Add to the fact energy drinks do not have…

You have to watch out for these claims to "eliminate arguments" that are false. Generic statins is the line, but aside from it still indeed making money, new statins and patents recently came out and are probably still on the way out, and people are directed to take those new drugs, not the old generics. In fact there was…

Pretty crazy. This goes in the face of many recent studies saying medicating for high cholesterol is harmful in many cases. Really sounds like some people got paid big pharma money in the AHA.

As long as this wasn't posted at 14:15:16 time, everything is fine.

Definitely go talk to them before complaining, it may be all "attitude" they are giving off to appear "buff", but none of it is really directed at you. Could even be the guy is not meeting your eyes because he's shy with a girl around, not because he's reading your mind that you want the bench. "Excuse me, can you hand me…
