Fantastic post!!! I plan to put this on my fridge as I push through the Insanity program and as Easter (and candy) approaches!!! Thanks :)

Fad diets and other extreme "diets" are the worst thing Thyroid patients can do as those plans only confuse an already struggling metabolism. I would strongly encourage you to eat healthy (as close to the real food as possible - no highly processed foods), drink lots of water, sleep well and move everyday. It will take…

Do the research to identify gluten....there are literally hundreds of "names" for different wheat and gluten products on labels. Perhaps you have consumed something that did indeed have gluten, I had 4 gummy candies once after reading the package....and within 15 minutes the bloating started. Try to eat at home as much as…

What a long process you've had to endure. Thankfully you now have the answer!!! Gluten/wheat sensitivities are exploding due to the genetic changes to wheat (dwarf vs. tall, drought resistant, etc) and the changes are so significant our bodies cannot digest them the way nature intended. Our wheat also doesn't come from…

My daughter is a competitive swimmer and I will tell you with utmost certainty that it is an amazing exercise that uses ALL parts of your body. There is minimal stress to your body (other then shoulders but that comes with MANY hours of strenuous exercise daily) and those with joint issues will experience success. I…

YES!!! They were always itchy, dark circles under my eyes and by 5-6pm my contacts were all blurry. Just kinda figured it was what it was. Recently diagnosed Gluten-Intolerant so have been off all gluten for almost 4 weeks and just the other day I realized (at 10pm) that my contacts were not blurry.....and my eyes were not…

Eat the way our grandparents ate (fresh, from your geological area if possible). If it's close to it's naturally occurring state your body can process the nutrients, etc. from the food. With all the information out there its impossible to get an "answer". What you need to do is figure out what you can do "forever" as the…

I'm currently in week #3 and it's amazing!!! Be afraid...then tackle it head on...you can do it! Take pictures, measurements and record your Fit Test results...you will be impressed! The scale will only move down in lbs if you take in less calories then you expend in a day (lots of sites to help you with how many calories…

Try an apple with peanut butter! I always wake up hungry but if I've had a harder then usual workout the previous day then I'm starving!!! Experiment with different foods but always a complex carbohydrate and a protein before bed.

Just "diagnosed" as Gluten-Intolerant after sudden bouts of severe pain and bloating after consuming wheat products. I had a blood test to determine if I had Celiac Disease, that said, the blood tests are inconclusive, mine came back negative. I also have Hypothyroidism and I have read that because they are both…

I'm in the process of omitting it from my diet to determine if I have an intolerance (blood tests showed I'm not Celiac). My doctor stated a full 6 weeks of no gluten products (and research confirmed the gluten molecules can remain in your digestive system for 6 weeks) then we would challenge my system to see the reaction…

Like yourself, I just recently discovered the list was so long. I knew about broccoli and cauliflower however didn't know about raw spinach, which I was eating 2 cups of daily in a Nutri-Bullett!!!!! Cook what you can but worry more about soy as it's far more destructive then the fruits and vegetables (this was confirmed…

PAIN is WEAKNESS leaving the body

Thanks for your stories!!! I'm headed to the Dr tomorrow as I had a small bun "Slimwich" with my lunch and feel just awful again. I will deal with whatever this is and have friends with Celiac so I know how many amazing products are out there. I'm hopeful that whatever changes I have to make they will help......and I…

Great job!!! Recognizing that the one day was an "oops" day and moving on is exactly what you needed to do. It's also awesome you recognize how to pull yourself out of a slump (drawing), many people need to find out "what works" for them...I clean...not as cathartic as your activity...but it works :)

l've had a treadmill for a few years and it is amazing. Did LOTS of research and ended up purchasing an AFG Treadmill. SOLE Treadmills are good as well but stability wise AFG was the best. They come in a variety of price ranges but if you're going to make the investment I would encourage you to get a good one! Good…

I'm 5'9" and the lowest I've ever been is 130lbs (and I was NOT eating enough....a little too obsessed with weight at the time....plus was in my late teens). I'm currently 155lbs and my goal is 145lbs....I'm 43 and in good shape. Good luck whatever goal you set....set smaller goals and see how you look/feel when you get…

Nope...no gym here. When I was in the BEST shape of my life I did karate and never lifted a weight. Jillian Micheal's DVD's are amazing BTW! Good luck...you can do it!

Guess I'm a little confused.....we are all here @ MFP for the same goal...to be healthier and feel happier in our own skin, wether you are losing, gaining, getting in better shape, etc. While we are all basically "built the same" we are all VERY different in how we function. Some can do quite well on 1200 calories, some…

If you absolutely can't stand water alone then add the Crystal Light but use only a small amount, the serving is one packet for a bottle, instead use 1/4 of the packet and work your way to 1/8 if you can. Its better then not drinking enough water. Your urine should be clear, always!!! Cucumber slices in water is…

I love Jillian Michaels. I rotate through 4 DVD's and they are all equally amazing! Ripped in 30, Shred it with Weights, Kickbox Fastfix and 6 Week 6 Pack. Finding something you enjoy, something that makes you feel great and something that motivates you to keep doing it is hard....I'm glad I found mine. Why drive to a gym…

My favorite "go to" meals are: Spinach salad with spinach, light feta cheese, rotisserie chicken (or any chicken really) and a balsamic-vinaigrette dressing. You can have a HUGE plate/bowl and add lots of chicken. It takes time to eat and you feel quite full afterwards Homemade chili with lots of veggies and I add TVP…

I use diet and vitamins to help with many of the challenging symptoms of hypothyroidism. Best bet is to do things as natural as possible as chemicals make it harder for the body to do what it needs to. Vitamin B Complex is a MUST for oxygenating the blood (helps with symptoms of exhaustion). Vitamin B12, Vitamin D and D3…
