I have been running long distance for about 10 years, and have used Asic's most of that time. First 3 years I ran in Asic Kayano, but would get blisters with every couple of pairs. Last 7, I switched to Asic Nimbus, and never had a blister again. The Nimbus is a neutral shoe, where the Kayano was for pronation.

You can burn all the calories you want. I burn 1500 on my longer runs of 13.1 miles. Heck, some days I will work out 3 times, and burn 2000+ calories lifting and running. And you don't have to eat anything back...that is bogus. Eat healthy and eat what you need to. I hardly eat anything on my long run days. You just need…

Running burns the most calories of any exercise. Interval training is great as mentioned by poster above. I can't speak of the accuracy question, but just enter the amount of time you ran or elliptical'ed into MPF. If its harder to run for you, then it probably is doing more for you. Some pain is good...but just don't get…

This will cover the previous "quotes" of my reply also... :) The reason why TDEE is a bunch of crap is the following (using the same fitnessfrog site OP quoted): - Male, 5'11", 174 lbs, 41 years, moderate exercise - Calculates TDEE = 2747 Cal, %80 of TDEE = 2198 Cal I would gain weight if I ate 2200 calories a day. Even at…

THIS!!!! I don't understand why people get so caught up in the numbers, TDEE, BMI, BMR...its all just noise. To lose weight you have to eat less and exercise more. Here is the only number people need to understand: To lose 1 pound, one must burn 3500 excess calories

As far as the topic goes...yes I have the same problem. But I swear...I just look at food and gain 4 lbs! Ha! I want to get in the single digit % of body fat. I am close I think...but I still can't get a full six-pack. Sometimes they go away for a couple of days! I have been forcing myself to eat more protein and do…

First off...you are going to be more hungry starting any diet or change in your eating habits. You should increase your protein intake as 51g isn't enough. Protein fills you up longer too. I do the almond milk with protein shake mix...keeping the calories lower and proteins up! Eat more often too, with smaller meals. Less…

I would eat a protein shake for a snack. Then I would have some chicken and splurge with some carbs like bread or something. But...I guess I don't understand. I never eat more than usual when I burn that kind of calories...I love seeing that I ate negative or zero! Good luck!

eat way more protein...not all those carbs...

I think the TDEE stuff is bogus, and I have posted that before. If I eat much over 1500 I gain weight...it doesn't matter that I am running 7 miles 5 days a week and lift 3 days a week. Some days I burn more than I eat...and still gain a pound. Do what you were doing when you were losing weight...some other thoughts, eat a…

I did the calculations with BMR and TDEE also. I even put that I was really active since I run a lot. All of the calculations I have seen come out of those formulas are WAY TOO HIGH. I eat 800-1900 a day...and I am losing weight (a couple of pounds a week...although its slowed way down now). I couldn't imagine if I was to…

Yea...Running is bad if you DON'T want to lose weight. 90% of my exercising is running...I run longer distances than the average person (6 to 7 miles x 5 week and at pretty decent tempo 7.5 to 8.25 mph). Plus I run one marathon a year and several half-marathons and longer runs too. I lost 20 lbs in 2 months...and that was…

You have to do what is right for you. If you aren't feeling tired after running a 5k, then increase your distance. I haven't bought into any limitations or only increase your running by X%. Run until you are tired. I run 5 to 6 times a week if my travel schedule allows for it. Each run is somewhere between 6-8 miles. Some…

Love to help you...but need more info! - What is your current weight? - How much do you want to lose? - What is your calorie intake a day? - What kinds of food do you eat (protein, carbohydrates, fat)? - What do you do for exercise? How many times a week? How long is each session? -Steve

Go back to your original question: The pure definition of an interval training...doing something and then resting and repeat. Is what you are doing the same...ummm...ok, sure based on that definition. But true running interval training is not easy. It is way harder than just going out and doing 7 miles...a lot harder. You…

My stats: Male, 41 years, 175 lbs, 5'11" tall... I eat anywhere from 850 to 1550 per day. I was looking at the last 30 days of data, and there are a few times I had 2200 calories (had a few too many beers!). But I try to be good about it most days, and I don't eat into my exercise calories very often. I dropped 20 lbs in a…

Nope...you aren't doing interval training. At least not for what runners would define as interval training versus what you are doing. Go sprint on a track or outside for xx distance or time, then slow it down for xx distance or time. Repeat! You are on a treadmill where the speed is constant at what ever rate you have it…

Run...fast walk...walk....RUN! Stair climber, elliptical. Keep the cardio going... be careful with your shoulder of course. Just do something. Counting calories is part of the equation! Hope it isn't torn!

Ha! Funny topic...

Awesome idea! Thanks!

If I do drink, yes...beer is my thing. But I might have 6 beers a month...maybe...unless it's one hell of a party! I do drink Ultra type beers or craft beers when I do have one.

I will do that for sure...anything that will help! Thanks!

I sometimes think I am putting my body in starvation mode...but I get hungry and eat accordingly. I haven't been the best about breakfast...maybe I only average 2 full meals and some snacking throughout the day. I am trying hard not to get a routine of eating, because when I do, my weight loss flat lines. Trying to eat…

I do lift minimal of once a week. I probably need to do it more like 3 times a week though. Yesterday, I ran 7 miles and then lifted for 45 mins. I am going to try increasing it to 2-3 times a week. Thanks!

I have an unscientific scale that calculates my body fat at 21.5 - 22.3 percent depending on what day it is. I actually don't do a whole lot of pre-loading on carbs before race day. I have in the past, but didn't notice any difference in performance. This year for most of the races I actually at more protein (beef in this…

I will give it a try! thanks for the advice!

Yep...it's annoying for sure. I have done P90X a few times, but work has me traveling a bunch. I do like Ab RipperX...can hardly make it the whole way though. Weight wise, I am lower than what I was coming out of college. Maybe I need to increase the intensity...I am only running 8:30 min miles on average on my 7 mile…

I have the opposite problem with MPF...it is lower than what my Garmin GPS watch is telling me. For example, I ran 7.25 miles at 8:37 pace in 62 mins, and burned 1092 calories. But MPF is saying that 981 for 8:30 pace and 62 mins. So I actually adjust up if I enter the numbers on the web. =) I trust my Garmin a bit more…
