It's not uncommon to plateau every now and the. Have you been doing the same workout for a while (over 8 weeks)? If so, try changing up the number of reps/sets. You can also try changing the rate you descend/ascend during your squat such as doing a 3 count on the way down and a 3 count on the way up, etc. Since you are…

That's why it's an approximate value. There's no hard and fast rules that apply to everyone. Are you going to constantly eat exactly 160 grams of protein every day for the rest of your life? Probably not. My example is myself. I am 218 lbs and I average 240-320 grams of protein per day. I lift to maintain and gain lean…

If you are trying to lean out, many nutritionists recommend approximately 0.8 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight you are. So, I think that you are good. I think the hardest thing when having a high protein intake is to keep the fats down, so as long as you aren't increasing your fats (especially the bad fats) to a…

I do one slice of wheat bread, 1 Tbs of PB, and 1 tsp of honey. I take this when I'm low on energy before a workout and never lets me down.

People put things into their body because it is their choice. What one decides their physique to be shouldn't be dependent upon their occupation. Should a dentist not have good muscle definition just because his job doesn't require it for day to day needs? The one thing we all have control over in our lives is our bodies…

Here are some ideas: Avocados are a great source of food fats and fiber. I smush it up and use is in place of mustard sometimes on sandwiches. Milk is always a good source of calories, even skim or 1% gives you some good proteins, fats, and carbs. Add in some brown rice into your dinners.

I've got to www.bodybuilding.com and they have a a lot of options for workouts based upon age, whether you want to lose fat/build muscle, etc., so it may be worth it to check it out. I've done the Kris Gethin Cut the Fat program before and am currently on it again. Good compound movements and I feel tired but not exhausted…

As long as it fits into your daily goals, it seems fine to me. However, if you want to cut out some calories you could always try egg whites with one whole gg in the morning (that's what I do), so you still get protein but not as much fat and I am a big proponent of regular oatmeal that I can mix in and control the sugar…

Have you thought about swimming? Very good exercise and very easy on the joints. I'm not sure you are going to be able to do the things you want to without having your rotator cuff fixed. Walking, biking, ellipticals, and swimming may be your best bets since a lot fo weight work seems to be out of the question.

Also, granola is very calorically dense for what appears to not be a lot of food to me. Try 1/2 cup of oatmeal which is 150 calories and may be more filling for less calories. Or try an egg plus two egg whites scrambled for more proteins and good fats. I think that is what MFP teaches us is really what we put into our…

I think those of us that are trying to change our lifestyles, how we view food, and our relationship with food don't like the word 'diet' because that is often associated with a short-term solution to the overall problem. Also, it's how others view the term 'diet' as well since many associate it with the short-term change…

I think a good place to start may be www.bodybuilding.com. I went there and did the Kris Gethin 12 Cutting the Fat Program (I think that is what it's called) and that's how I lost my first 20ish pounds and I just started my second cycle of the program. Easy to use, good compound lifts, and I can get the lifting done in…

Proform or Nautilus are the best IMO. That being said, the wife wanted one and barely used it because we found a gym more convenient, so it got sold for far less than we paid for it.

I lost interest in the show a long time ago. It started becoming a promo stage for ziploc bags and sugar-free gum. Plus, being on a 9 EST doesn't bode well considering I got to bed at 9:30 and don't have a DVR.

A lot of women have difficulty taking a pure iron supplement because it makes them nauseous, constipated, etc. and having it mixed in a multi makes it easier on the stomach while reaping the benefits.

The website I listed uses the RDA I originally defined "health outcomes" as "mortality," which is why I brought up the study. Meeting the RDA for micronutrients through food is, I think, a more reasonable alternative to broad-based supplementation. If you want to offer information as to multivitamins improving immune…

If you have Pandora, they have several workout stations that are pretty good for lifting, cardio, etc. Have a look. Sometimes when I get bored with my stuff I listen to that to get new ideas before downloading. However, here are some specific songs: It's Tricky - Run DMC Master of Puppets - Metallica Eye of the Tiger -…

Your last sentence is true; however, what makes you think the information provided to you by the website your keep stating is providing you with the right amount? I had a look and it doesn't look any different than other websites I researched while seeking what may work best for me. However, I circle back to your initial…

When people use "most", "abundantly" , and other vague terms for quantities, I tend to not believe them. I would like to see a breakdown of how many calories it would take to fill a common mulivitamin such as http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/men.html.
-
I also take it because often to get the doses of a lot of macronutrients requires larger quantifies of food and increases caloric intake because those nutrients are attached to proteins, carbs, or fats in our food. I take a multi-vitamin pack (20 calories for the pack) and to get all of those nutrients from food may take…

In bed at 9:30 p.m. and up at 5 a.m. every day of the week. The best way to stay rested is to remain consistent in your sleeping schedule.

Promax LS bars are good. 18 grams protein, 14 grams fiber, and low sugar for about 220 calories per bar.

You say you don't "really like raw veggies", so have you tried other such as green peppers, broccoli, celery, and cucumbers and not liked them or have you written off some vegetables because you don't like others? All of these, at least to me, are good. I'm not a huge raw veggie eater, but I think sometimes we can learn to…

Canned tuna in water is always a good bet, a litle mayo on a wheat wrap or on salad is good. Sometimes I make a big pot of turkey chili on the weekend and eat that for something filling and warm.

Use the brand you have and use the nutrient info on the side of the carton. It does make a differene is you use medium, large, or XL eggs. Typically, one large egg will be about 70ish calories.

It will look a little loose for a while, but the most important thing to keep in mind is the health benefits you are doing for yourself. Over time the skin will tighten up and you can incorporate weight training into your workout to help with that. Good luck.

Crock pot + 6 chicken breasts + 1 can corn + 1 16 oz jar salsa + 1 can black beans = dinner and leftovers. I make this and can portion out how much I have and you can increase/decrease the amounts by approximation, no hard numbers here. I also find that with my george foreman grilll, I can grill up a lot of chicken on a…

This is the best analogy I have read regarding belly/hip/butt fat in everyone. It's a bit long, but worth the read IMO. Most people are a bit confused when it comes to losing belly fat. They think the fat around the belly is somehow different, and is therefore harder to lose, but they are wrong. Fat is fat, period. Think…
