I'll be running, but I'm not going to try for any records, I'm going to enjoy myself!

The contacts need to make electrical connection with the skin. We skin is more conductive than dry skin. Also, if the back of the strap is moist, it will help keep it from sliding around when you work out. I either use some warm tap water or just plain old spit...gross, I know, but you should be showering after your…

One room at a time. Baby steps, just like your weight-loss journey! Find one small thing you can do today to point you in the right direction of your ultimate goal. Then, eliminate all excuses preventing you from doing that one small thing. Then do it. Do it for a month. Then find the next small thing. You are living,…

Gotta have some moisture between the metal contacts on the strap and your chest. They make pricey lubes, but I just use a bit of spit...I mean you shower after the workout, anyway. Also, make sure it's tight on your chest.

Nice job!

Worth it! Really helpful when working out. I run, do zumba, do strength training. All of that burns calories and I know exactly how many with my chest strap. I use my cell phone for music and safety when I run, so I use the GPS in that. I couldn't justify $200 for a GPS HRM watch.

July 14th. 7am. It's not timed, and they seem to welcome walkers and joggers. Just no pets.

I tried adding weights in the fall to no avail. I started Jillian Michaels 30-day shred in January and it really worked for me. Having a fixed, predictable routine each night...and knowing how long it was going to take, etc...really helped kick start the strength training for me. Now, I'm in this Zombie Challenge and they…

*it's John, actually* (no worries, I'm related to a famous Joe) I did not yet discuss it with him, but he really wants to do something. I'll send him the links if we FB chat this morning. He's also talking about a Disney run (that could get expensive with airfaire, etc)

I agree...new wardrobe pics, please!

Haven't done it, but started a team with my work buddies!

I'm up in Souderton. Been a "runner" for about 9 months. Love it. Can't wait until the weather lets us run outside. The group is not dead! Huzzah!

The gym is 15 minutes away...that's 30 minutes wasted per trip. yet just another one of those lame *kitten* excuses that have kept me from running every day. Plus, some people in my household are scared to try running in public. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help people in my household succeed in their goals. Just…

Me, too! I spent the weekend doing some research, but there is SO much information out there. I think for me (200 pounds, 6mph runner), I might need to bump up to $1500 to $2000 budget.

I started running in July. I was 240 pounds. I went to a running store and a young guy helped me pick out some shoes. He looked at my arch height and something called pronation--do I run on the inside or outside of my foot. They had a treadmill there and they were in a small strip mall. I narrowed my choices down to about…

Couch to 5k! I did it last summer/fall. exactly 9 weeks after starting it, I ran a 34 minute 5k. I haven't run in a few weeks because I've switched to strength training, but I love running and i can't wait until I can get back to running. People often ask "Why do runners love running?" Well, I have never finished a run and…

I love managing the group. It helps keep me honest. I'm a nerd, so spreadsheets are my thing. Also, don't forget Nay. It was her idea to keep this group going a year ago!

Welcome everyone! Here's a shorter link: http://tinyurl.com/6lsdqzm If you have a Google/GMail account, log in. It makes it easier. Also, if you download Google Drive or the old Google Docs app for your smartphone and log in via gmail, you can log right from your phone! February is up and running. There are tabs at the…

I've been on MFP a year and have lost 70 pounds. I have 40 to go. I run a group called "A Goal A Month" and it is all about setting your own small, ACHIEVABLE monthly goals and tracking them on the spreadsheet. All are welcome! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/5406-a-goal-a-month Check it out and feel free to join…

Right, but walking and jogging require YOU to self-motivate. Driving to a chemo clinic requires nothing at all. You walk in and then they give you the medicine and support, etc. The only real parallel to that would be hiring a personal trainer and nutritionist. My point is that if you have an illness or disease that…

If I had Cancer, my health insurance would spare no expense and surround me with doctors and nurses to help me. If I broke my leg, my health insurance would pay for rehab therapy. If wanted marriage counseling, my health insurance will pay for unlimited sessions with a counselor (co-pay still applies). If I wanted to quit…

I started 30DS on Saturday. I had to take Monday off because I was so sore I couldn't move. Tuesday I was back on. With the one rest day, I feel I recovered qutie well. I'm pain free this morning after doing day 4 last night. The 4lb weights I have are too light for rowing and chest fly, but too much for some of the…

Just finished day3. About 300 calories depending on exertion level. I did 345, 300, 300 with my HRM. Keep in mind, it will go down over each 10-day period because you become more efficient at moving.

I WILL hit Onederland by my birthday (Feb 1). After that, I want to get down into the 180s and settle in somewhere in the 170s (with some muscle toning). I just started adding toning to my workouts (had been all cardio). I chose to try 30DS. I find that if I have a routine that I have to stick to, I'm more likely to stick…

A month with no loss is nothing...regardless of where on your journey you are. You can try increasing activity and develop some muscle tone, or you can just keep at it a bit longer. I'm still 40 pounds from my goal, but over the past 12 months, I have had at least three "plateaus" of 2-4 weeks. I'm a daily weigher, and I…

They have a Google Drive (Google Docs) app for smartphones. You can log in via a gmail account and then log your weekly goal progress there. It's not as easy on the tiny screen, but it's much more convenient than finding a computer!
