  • How are you all able to get so much fat into your diet? I'm having a really hard time increasing the fat. I'm going for 10% Carbs, 30% Protein, and 60%fat, however, I've only been able to do 35-50% fat regularly.
  • Thanks for the link. I knew it wasn't good for me, and felt as addictive as the sugar and caffeine in soda to me. As of January 5, I decided to detox. Well to be honest I got food poisoning and I was out of commission for several days and it seemed like a good time to start. I decided to quit smoking, drinking, soda, and…
  • Since I've got a lot of weight to loose, I'm trying to keep my percentages at 10% Carbs, 30% Protein, and 60% fat. But I must admit that it has been very hard to get that much fat into my diet. I cut and paste my numbers from MFP into excel, so I can run formulas on what my actual percentages are on a daily and weekly…
  • I have a bunch of ground venison that a hunting buddy of my dads gave us. Its great for chilis, sauces, soups, tacos, etc. For tacos, just brown it up and throw in a can of el pato (yellow can with a duck on it). Good and spicy!
  • Beer. not shiatty mass produced swill like bud, miller, coors. But great craft brewed stouts and IPA's, Bourbon Barrel aged beers, and glorious Irish red ales...
  • I was worried about using a site because I thought it would be rigid and try to force me into a "standard diet". One of the things I love about this site is the fact that you can edit your goals to see what % of each, carbs, proteins and fat your eating. I've been logging solid for a week now, after finding the site 2…
  • Congrats on loosing 100 lbs, however you did it! I'm working on loosing 100 this year, and 138 total, to go from 363 to 225. I've got 28 down and 110 to go! I'm doing a Primal low carb diet, working out and I quit smoking, drinking, soda, caffeine, and aspertaine all at the same time, all cold turkey! Wish me luck! Cheers!
  • I'm 3 weeks into a Primal diet that kicked off because of a bad bout of food poisoning. I lost almost 20 lbs that week, and felt it would be foolish to throw that kick start away and go back to my old eating habits. So far I've lost a total of 28 lbs. I'm trying to keep my carbs to 10% of my diet. I've cut out all sugars,…
  • Yep, old school metalhead here. I also had a punk phase and dig rockabilly stuff as well, but metal is my love. Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Hypocrisy, Morbid Angel. Children of Bodum, Theater of Tragedy, etc.
  • I second the mongolian BBQ, also El Pollo Loco, grilled chicken, avoid the sides and tortillas is good. Also I've found some mexican restaurants and got a carne asada burrito, just carne and cheese, and then just ate the meat out of the tortilla. Most of the time I've been cooking in though. Good luck!
  • Awesome job! I'm 3 weeks in to what I hope will be a similar transformation for me! BTW, I saw someone ask you about a primal workout. I haven't heard about those. Do you have any links you could post with more info? Thank you!
  • Also, from what I've read, if you resort to supermarket beef for your meat, you should also boost your fish oil, or cod liver oil supplement a bit to help balance out the N-6 to N-3 ratio. I'm in this boat as well.
  • I've been wondering about this as well. I've been doing this diet for 3 weeks so far, and the hardest thing is beer. Especially because I work on a youtube channel doing craft beer reviews and help educate restaurants in craft beer. I have had a couple of beers each week, but I can't say they have made me feel bad, or…
  • I take comfort from the fact that this is not a new fad. In "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes, He states in the introduction that the concept of a low carb diet was supported, tested and offered to people in the mid to late 1800's. It was also considered to be rational advice in the first part of the 1900's as…
  • Hey there, I'm new to the paleo/primal thing too, just been a couple of weeks so far. I've been getting most of my info from Dr. Kurt Harris and his blog Archevore. It's definitely in the Primal camp as he does allow dairy. http://www.archevore.com/get-started/ Good Luck!
  • Whittier (Right near La Mirada) Cheers and good luck all!
  • There is the concept of body types, which I don't think the BMI takes into account. I'm a big guy, and I'm just beginning my journey, and I know I have a lot to loose. However, I'm 6'3, broad shouldered and my BMI is supposed to be between 148 and 200. I think I would look really weird and awkward if I was ever down to…
