  • I'm in SoCal as well, and I say el pollo loco. I get a couple chicken breasts, and that's it. no sides, no tortillas. Wash it down with some iced tea or water.
  • 67 lbs since January 5th. I haven't been very strict, as I'm still drinking beer occasionally.
  • I've been doing it for almost 3 months now. I've lost just over 45 lbs and I feel great. I have a lot more energy than I did with any other way of eating that I've done previously. It is important to note that paleo or primal is not specifically for weight loss. Its about reducing insulin resistance and reducing modern…
  • I would also like to point out a couple factors that have helped me in these discussions. First of all, the point of this way of eating is NOT WEIGHT LOSS. The point of paleo/primal eating is for our health. Drs.Eades goes into this greatly in the book Protein Power Life plan. When we get back to what our body's are…
  • I'm trying to loose a lot of weight, so mine ratios look different than someone doing paleo that is just trying to maintain. I'm doing 5% carbs, 40%protein, and 55% fat.
  • Ok, I tried doing this and it kicked my *kitten*. Could only get through about 19 minutes of it. Of course I am really overweight. And using 12 lb weights.
  • Thanks for this, just put it up on my blog!
  • Thanks a bunch! :-)
  • Funny you should ask. I just did a blog posting on my standard breakfast, the Primal Frittata! http://primalbeergeek.com/2012/03/21/my-standard-primal-breakfast-or-anytime-meal/ Enjoy!
  • Greetings all! I like the idea of coconut butter, has anyone tried making it with raw coconut, instead of the processed flakes? Also, any ideas on what to do with it once you've made it? It seems like it should be put on something, but I can't think of what. Cheers!
  • Its tough! I do a beer vlog on youtube and we review some really crazy craft beers. Bourbon barrel aged barleywines and all that. I really only drink beer when I do the vlog now though. Beers been the one thing I've missed the most. Link to the vlog if you're interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFekqa8B2Nw Cheers!
  • Another one is "Fad Diet" Not only is it a pretty meaningless statement, it's normally completely wrong. For example Low carb diets have been around and prescribed by Doctors since 1869, not to mention it's the way we ate for thousands of years before agriculture, but most people still call them "fad diets". Below is a…
  • In response to they way I eat. "Oh that's not heathy." Really? Are you a medical scientist or doctor? More to the point are you a medical scientist or doctor that isn't on the dole of Big Pharma and the major food companies? Probably not, I'll wager. Besides, is it less healthy than me being 363 lbs? yeah didn't think so.
  • Yep it's the "fad" diet that humans were on for thousands of years before the government determined everyone should have carbs in the 1950's. It's such a fad that it was being prescribed by doctors in 1856! http://www.lowcarb.ca/corpulence/
  • Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - The Real Thing (From the Road OST)
  • wow. I'm really saddened by all the low carb bashers on here. Whether you agree with her or not, whether you think she is wrong or not is not a reason to just be a ****. Our bodies do not need carbs. We need fat, we need protein, but we do not need carbs. There is nothing in carbs, that is provided ONLY in carbs that our…
  • I know I get some pushback, but I think that's mainly because I'm still 325 lbs. One of the interesting dichotomies I've experienced is that I've done a lot of research on our bodies, how it looses weight, etc however since I'm still fat no one will believe me. Clearly my information can't be very good or else I wouldn't…
  • I started January 5th at 363 when a bout of food poisoning kicked my *kitten*. Aftter a week, I had lost about 15 lbs, and had not smoked, had any soda, had sugar, alcohol or caffine in a week. I realized that I could use this negative as a positive and keep going or revert back to the way I was living before. I'm sticking…
  • This is an awesome point! I'm stealing this!
  • right on! Good for you! Stay on the meat train! Cheers!
  • I second this resource! It's what got me started. Also keep an eye out for protein Power and the Protein Power lifeplan books by Drs. Eades. I found my copy in a thrift store for .99 and it's a great book. Also, there are a lot of great people here willing to give advice! Cheers!
  • Roll up deli-meats. (I would put cheese in them, but you don't do dairy) Have you found beef jerky that is not made with sugar? If so, let me know what brands, please.
  • Song of Fire and Ice series, Better known as Game of Thrones. Also for health: Protein Power lifestyle by Drs. Eades. Just got done with this one, really interesting!
  • I've got my carbs set at 5% and I'm at a 2500 calorie diet, so that's 31 grams of carbs per day. Out of the last 30 days, I've hit under 30 carbs for 23 of them, 30-60g 4 days, and 60-90 1 day and over 90 1 day. I had a hard time getting my carbs down that low, until I really started watching carbs. 4 carbs per serving is…
  • I'm about to hit the 60 day Primal mark, and I'm not missing much of my old life, maybe just good craft beer and Pizza occasionally. I don't really believe in trying to make paleo equivalents of the food I used to eat. I think having a crappy version of something I like will only increase the unhappiness of not being able…
  • Ok, I saw my friend MissCaliGreen in here, so I gotta do this too. I'm in for 50 miles this month. All walking. I've got a 3.2 mile walk all planned out so I need to do that basically every other day, or 15.62 times. This is pretty extreme for me. Good Luck all!
  • Also, since the OP asked about beans in chili, I think it is important to note that chili afficiandos insist that chili does not include beans. Check out this link to the International Chili Socicety's rules. Number one is that beans are expressly forbidden. http://www.chilicookoff.com/Event/Event_Rules.asp So there you…
  • Congrats! I'm just starting out with about the same amount to go. I'm going from 363 to 223. So far I'm down a little over 30 lbs in 6 weeks. Great to know it can be done! Thanks for the inspiration! Cheers!
  • I used to drink about a 12 pack of diet pepsi a day easy. I quit 6 weeks ago when I started this diet. I also stopped smoking, drinking (mostly) at the same time. Now I'm 30 lbs lighter and I'm feeling really good. One thing I've noticed is that I feel like I can concentrate better, and my mind is more focused. In the…
