I did a two week diet once something a friend gave to me. It claimed to be from (I'm not saying where and I've found other diets by this name online but never been able to find the one I did anywhere else). It claimed you'd lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks and it would diminish your appetite afterwards. I lost 17 in the two weeks…

I don't record my exercise on MFP as I tend to want to eat too much when I do. I set my calories for 1300 and that leaves wiggle room on a day that I'm really hungry or have a special occasion. I see progress by doing this. Everyone is different so you should experiment to figure out what works best for you. edit for…

I lost 30 on WW, became lifetime and have stayed within 10 pounds of goal. I liked the accountability but the bottom line it it's up to you to do the work. I too found some fantastic leaders and some that were so/so. After a while it seemed like re-runs. I was frustrated with how often they change the program and going to…

Awww, very touching and it sounds like you're raising a very special young lady! Congratulations on the loss!

Southwest Pizza. The kids love it and it's a sneaky way to get them to eat some black beans. I use 1# lean ground beef and leave out half of the cheese. Nutrional info is based on the recipe as written. Wehn I plug it into MFP recipes it comes to about 500 calories for 1/10th of the recipe. Makes enough for 8 - 10 hearty…

Funny, I was struggling with the same thing myself this weekend, and the weekend before that....you get the idea. I was going through some old notes and came across the following: It takes 6 – 8 weeks for something to become a habit and if you take a break every weekend that becomes the habit Make the Weekend Work for You!…

Hand out scarrots....you know, carrots dressed up like candy! I'm sure it will be a hit with the kids. Really....hand out candy, just buy less than normal then donate the leftovers!
-
Well said and thanks to your husband for serving and to both of you for the sacrifice. You have a wonderful attitude!

I didn't mean it was unkind of her to offer or that she was rotten for offering. I just thought it very ironic that she'd take me to the gym then try to push pizza even after I kindly refused several times. Thanks for the laughs and thanks to the posters for the idea of passing it along. I thanked her for the offer and…

Yes, too much pizza is the enemy - everything in moderation!

Good point, but no, on the way back she asked if I wanted lunch and I said no, but feel free to stop and get something for yourself.

Wonderful idea! They look great!

This....I tried weekly and it doens't work for me. I need a daily indicator but don't let the daily fluctuations get to me as I know what's normal for me.

I really don't like formal exercise and have gotten to goal weight without it. That being said, I am naturally active and often ride a bike, dance around the house, walk, garden, rollerblade and swim. I guess those are forms of exercise but I find them enjoyable so in my mind they don't count. I will say that the older…

Get rid of any clothes that are too big. Don't store them away, don't save them just in case....get rid of them! I lost 30 pounds several times then grew right back into those clothes that were waiting for me. The last time I lost I donated them...they are gone. Bought new clothes - that fit - and when they get a tad snug…

M-F Breakffast: low fat yogurt and a piece of fruit Lunch: prepackaged meal that's under 300 calories and I usually put carrots in for the last part of the cooking for filler. Easy to take food for the week and leave it at work so I'm always prepared. Boring I know but it's filling and saves calories for later in the day…

You can manually adjust your daily goal. Or you can add a -500 to quick add only calories to offset the difference - it will add the calories back in. You can also set up a food item with -500 calories.

HAd to look it up myself http://www.waldenfarms.com/products/sauce_pasta.html not sure I believe it though!

My grandmother had celiac. For sweets she would make Rice crispy treats and she would substitute rice and/or spelt flour for wheat flour in recipes. Spaghetti squash, rice. She'd make any mexican style dish using corn tortillas or chips.

It will taste ok but it won't be as creamy as if you turned it in a churn...basically the texture won't be smooth and it may have ice particles in it.

Carrots and water - exciting, I know!

White chicken chili (I make without the chicken...kids and hubby love it) 12 oz chicken breast - chop and cook till done add: 1 Large can of white northern beans 1 jar salsa 1 can green chillies 1 Chicken boullion 1 cup of water (or 1 cup of broth for the boullion and chillies) put in a pan and bring to a boil. Or dump in…

The part about the clean plate club - I never have made my kids clean their plate. I would watch my daughter repeatedly take a bite or two of a candy bar, carrot, whatever and leave the rest. I was amazed at how natural it was for her to eat everything in moderation. Nothing was every off limits as I didn't want it to…

Your capacity to say no determines your capacity to say yes to greater things.

You can lose weight without exercise. However, you stated that you'd like to spend the time with your kids rather than exercising. Why not do both? My kids love to ride their bikes, go for a swim, play catch, compete on the Wii, etc. It's a great way to spend time with your children and get them moving along with you.
