Hi! How was your week? It's good to *see* everyone! And comforting to know that others experience items that walk away. At our age, the reason is obvious - our houses are haunted! It's also somewhat comforting to know that others are finding it challenging to get their rhythm back as far as a healthy diet and exercise. I…

Hi, Everyone! I've been AWOL for a while. I'd fill you in, but I don't even remember when I was here last. I had eye surgery with complications and all sorts of activity restrictions. Along with severe post-election depression... <deep sigh>. But, alas, I'm re-committing and will be here more often. I promise. It's…

Hi! Anybody home? I haven't fallen off the end of the earth. I'm back. I had a detached retina with surgery and some complications, etc. I was using my tablet instead of my desktop. Between my clumsy fingers and bad sight, I couldn't post and type. I finally got cleared from all activity restrictions. I signed up with a…

I appreciate your positive enthusiasm! It's March 1 and snowing. Again. It's Maryland. If we can make it to March, we can usually see some hope of Spring. I have an idea for a hit comedy show in Canada. It'll consist entirely of people driving in the snow in southern states in the U.S. You'll laugh so hard you'll cry!…

Sorry for the absence. I've been working a lot lately. I'm glad to see you're all here. I'm not getting to the gym and haven't started back with the trainer yet. I'd intended to do both before the weather turned cold. And the yardwork. I didn't do that, either. I'm working on having a better schedule. I need more energy at…

You should've juiced the large fries and cheeseburger. Not the diet dr pepper. That's just crazy.

I'm in as long as it doesn't require a lot of energy. I only drink 500 cals. of juiced herbal cleansing supplements daily. Discuss.

The most common cause is gastric reflux. It took me 50 years to get an accurate diagnosis. Search for it and look at the list of triggers. I was eating healthy foods, but some of them set off my stomach. I'm not saying that's what you have, but it's worth looking into.

Another *Porcelain Princess" here. Have you tried a good bronzer?

Many Congrats! Of course we care! You've lost three bags of flour and we're sharing, caring, feeling people! (seriously, we are)

Your wedding has nothing to do with theirs. If it's a formal affair, they may be spending as much as $100/plate to a caterer along with everything else. Decide what a reasonable gift would be and give it. Your father's right.

Favorite Dave Barry quote: "Don't ask a woman if she's pregnant unless she's actively giving birth."

You may want to ask your MD about running. The answer will depend on your degree of scoliosis, so people on the list really can't advise you safely. Also ask about deep water fitness. Many gyms and aquatic centers offer it. You get the same great benefits of running without stress on your joints, etc.

Crazy busy! I had foot surgery in June and it's healing well. Went to the beach for two weeks in July. Getting two kids ready to go back to college this week. One of them got an infected corneal ulcer from wearing her contacts too long - daily trips to the corneal specialist, hourly drops and eye patch, etc. She has to…

I had foot surgery a couple of weeks ago. I had to sit with my foot above the level of my head as much as possible for two weeks. The stitches are out now. There's some swelling, but not too bad. I'm increasing my activity every day. It's amazing how weak you can get in two weeks! I have to sit down after everything I do.…

Wait for the prep, Sweetie. Your body will *pump* all right.... (!) On the plus side, it's the best sleep ever.

How do you know they're not? People think they're getting away with it because nothing happens the next day. It takes years for the damage to show up. Being healthy is a *long game.*

I learned that my love for clever gifs knows no bounds. Some day, I'll go to Old People Computer Camp and learn how it's done.

The loud, throbbing music always makes me feel anxious and confused. Would a stretching class, or something quiet, be less stressful? At least, as a place to start?

Don't think this was mentioned - "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross. It's about his father, who died young. And then so did he. Sad all around.

Phentermine works for about a month then your body adjusts to it.

Can you go for a check-up? Nothing chases away the "what-ifs" like a clean bill of health from a trusted doctor. I fight with anxiety, too. Something like an illness in someone close to me always jacks it up.

Food from the Baja Fresh chain. I'ts advertised as all fresh ingredients with no transfats. I thought it was healthy until I looked it up in the MFP database. It's horrible for you. What an eye-opener.

Do you know the name of the restaurant? You can look it up in the database and see what they have for you. I like beef and broccoli. Hold the rice.

I just went through this. Note: your experience may be different. I had increasingly heavier and longer periods. My doctor kept telling me to wait it out until menopause. I found another doctor who did a transvag. sono which showed a couple of small fibroids. MD #2 told me (essentially) that I was a whiner. The pain…

I don't think I've been on here for a month! My job blew up. I'm a substitute RN for our local school system. I don't want/need to work full-time, but have been since the mass walk-out in December. The second one in two years. They forced our insane department head to retire and hired an insane department head to take her…

If you missed an appointment, you owe the whole charge, not just your co-pay. Insurance companies don't pay anything toward missed appointments. Just pay it. Letting it go will cause you to wish you'd taken care of it for such a small amount, comparatively speaking.
