I used them for an *intro to breakfast*. I don't want to eat when I get up. I used to skip breakfast, but was very hungry at the end of the day. I started eating a bar on the way to work and it really helped. I've moved on to a bigger, balanced breakfast now. They have their place.

Yes. Please cover those l'il bird legs...(!)

Google the scale with make and model then " reviews". I bought a ww scale from Costco and returned it because I thought it was defective. I looked up the reviews later and they were terrible. I ended up not replacing it. I weigh myself once a week at the gym.

I was on a beach vacation for two weeks and didn't gain or lose any weight. I consider that an accomplishment, considering what I ate and drank! I walked on the beach every day. It must have saved me. Susan - we had the same Fisher-Price high chair for all four kids! I broke a couple of toes on those miserable flared legs.…

I work in ICU and have seen a few of the arrows pointing down - all in your age group. Some say: "Insert here". It was probably funny at the time. I look at some of the tats on young people and wonder what they'll morph into over time.

We're leaving for two weeks at the beach tomorrow. We're going to the Outer Banks, NC., but I'm still jealous of Susan's trip to Coronado! Have a great two weeks, Everyone!

Tomatoes from the garden, vacations - sounds like Summer! Happy July 4 to our US friends tomorrow - and our sympathizers! Have a barbeque and light a sparkler! I hope it stops raining for a few hours here. I'd like to blow the clouds to somewhere where they need it. I'm not getting my walks in. Snoozie and Susan - I didn't…

I'm happy about it. Can the rest of DOMA stand alone? I'm not looking forward to the editorials that will surely come from my Southern (US) relatives. You can't have a discussion with people who barely leave the house except to mingle with people exactly like them. They even homeschool their children to avoid outside…

Grilled asparagus is the best. My kids eat it and they don't even like asparagus.

If you really are a *carb addict*, you may have less suffering if you focus on increasing your fiber. You'll stay full longer (unlike high carb) and you can think your way through the transition. Stock up on raw veggies and stuff like that. Staying on a lower-carb, higher protein diet is more sustainable than Adkins, IMHO.…

Checking in here. We were fine in the storm except for a dripping leak around a sliding glass door. We finally figured out that our dishwasher had died full of water and was leaking down onto the door below. After replacing the dishwasher (which took almost a week to come in) we discovered that the valve leading to the…

I don't understand why everyone has to agree completely. If you're doing better than you did yesterday, you're improving. Keep going.

I figured I'd better make my way onto the group before the BIG STORM tomorrow. This is one year since we lost our roof in the derecho and they're predicting the same set-up for tomorrow. If I'm gone for awhile, we lost power again. Susan- My husband travels to Tucson every few months and has actually been to the spa in the…

I read the forums occasionally to see what the *children* are saying these days. I especially love it when a twenty-year old has lost five pounds and wants to share her wisdom, since she has kept it off for a week. The junk science is also amusing. And the posts that end up being sales pitches for some shake or another.…

Yes, Julie. It sure sounds like you're in the right place! I'm just checking in. We're in the middle of two graduations, several birthdays, our anniversary and a host of other distractions. I'll offer a proper introduction later. Welcome! And we're getting a *new* rescued dog tomorrow! I won't have to cry every time I see…

Judge much? Weight loss surgery requires lifelong commitment to a healthy regimen followed closely by a doctor. It's vitally important to get enough water, keep electrolytes balanced, on and on and on. It's not easy or any kind of shortcut for someone who can achieve weight loss otherwise. If it has been recommended by a…

I've been too busy this week. My fourth (of four) children is graduating from high school on May 30 and my third is graduating from college on May 20. They either need a ride or need my car for all kinds of AP exams, end of year stuff, etc. It's good stuff. Of course, work rises up when I'm busiest at home. But I'm…

About 30 lbs. and six months. To be fair, I started wearing Spring and Summer clothes so it was more noticeable.

1. This said 130 lbs for me: current weight) x (1 – current body fat %) = current lean body mass (current lean body mass) x (1 + goal body fat %) = goal body weight 2. My gym does body composition analysis adjusted for age. It said that my ideal weight was 137 for the healthy range. 3. My doctor said that his favorite…

TA - I'm not an expert. I can only answer based on my own experience. I think that slow loss is inevitable after awhile, but it may mean it's time to do something new. I was losing very slowly then stopped for months. I can't believe how small changes started things up again. I upped the reps on some circuit weight…

I've been sullen and whinny for weeks because I can't get anywhere with this blasted weight loss. I had one session with a trainer last week and made tiny changes to my routine. I lost four pounds this week. I'm afraid to believe it. I have two weeks before I see the trainer again. I was hoping to lose a pound or two.…

I haven't been losing any weight in spite of daily exercise and tracking my food. I decided to get a Body Composition Analysis at the gym. Has anyone had this done? They type in height, age, gender, etc. then you step on a box. It gives you a read-out with weight, fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass, BMR and other…

20-year olds who have lost five pounds and kept it off for two weeks. Now they want to share their accumulated *wisdom*.

Get fresh ones, if you can. They taste almost sweet. Frozen ones taste bitter to me. You can get a recipe for roasted brussel sprouts on any foodie site that won't be high calorie. They're good.

Fat is an excellent insulator. I lost 40 lbs. of insulation and I've been freezing cold all winter. I'm going to be one of those little old ladies who brings a sweater to the grocery store.

My husband has the same thing. He was self-conscious, so he kept it short and colored it for years. It took him to age 50 to let it go. It didn't bother him any more, even though his hair was whiter than his mother's. Go with what works for you.

Hi Everyone! I hope that your weather is as pleasant as ours today. I got out for a walk and even did some yardwork yesterday. I finally got around to reading everyone's updates. I was in Ft. Lauderdale this past week. I got the depositions over with and thought that my emotional turmoil was over with for a while. I stayed…
