  • Thank you WinoGelato! What good insight and thoughts. I so appreciate it. I think I am just so committed to losing this time - I have let myself get derailed so many times in the past and I am just so sick of these last 15 lbs. I will keep this all in perspective and recognize and acknowledge that it all can even out -…
  • Great ideas! These all help me feel better about this upcoming week and staying on track but also not beating myself up if I stray. And yes, I also tend to be much more active on the weekends so that helps. Unfortunately this week and weekend won't allow me to fit in any extra workouts. But.... who knows, maybe I can…
  • I have dieted off and on for a number of years now and never seem to be able to lose the weight. I have about 10-12 lbs I want to lose and it just hasn't happened. I have started IF using the same 16:8 as you are using. I think it makes it so much easier to drop several hundred calories from your day without really feeling…
  • These are great! Thank you!
  • Awesome! Glad I shared! :)
  • Thank you! I do always weigh my food and had stopped resistance training but am starting up with body weight training again. I am a vegetarian so generally eat pretty well and don't eat a lot of processed foods. As much as I hate the idea of cutting calories further your point about exercise calories is a good one and I…
  • Great stuff - sort of what I thought, intuitively, but wanted to make sure I had some idea of what I would do when I finish this program. Thanks for the specifics on Strong Curves and Supercharged. Maybe I will look into those. I guess I just don't want to feel like now that I have started strength training I will always…
  • Thanks - I plugged that stuff in just to follow it. I had a crazy active outside day that day. Did much more than I even plugged in. All in addition to my normal workout (that day was a mile run + 45 minutes strength training) which I never log because I never eat my exercise calories. That one day was an anomaly.
  • Thanks so much for this information. I was hoping this was the case but getting a little nervous. I will sit tight and hopefully the water retention will subside. I am enjoying NROL - had been doing some other strength training but the squats and deads and some of the other exercises bring a whole new dimension to strength…
  • You might want to have a longer conversation with your trainer about this. How does he/she suggest you meet those numbers? What are some actual meals that would fit into the macro profile the trainer has provided? Hopefully the trainer wants to see you succeed so would be willing to help you to better understand the…
  • Lupin beans? That's a new one! I will definitely investigate. My protein numbers have been ok, but a good bit of my protein in the past has been from Greek style yogurts and now that I have found dairy except for moderate amounts of cheese, gives me godawful acid reflux and other digestive problems, I realized I needed to…
  • Not everyone knows what that is. For the sake of simplicity I used the language I chose.
  • So, if I do this strictly by TDEE I should calculate for slightly or moderately active? Then not plug in cals burned in mfp? I exercise nearly every day, 45 minutes of cardio (running, stairmill, elliptical or bike), 1 good strength day, plus one day w yoga or resistance training per week. Also have a standup desk at work.…
  • Wow! Lots of great info. I will have to digest. I am hypothyroid but have been been treated for it for nearly 10 years and maintain good numbers. No point in checking other hormones as I had an embolism a few years ago and can't take hormone replacements. Some of my measures are in cups because the oz equivalent is hard to…
  • Thanks. I only have been using fitbit for about two weeks. My spreadsheet didn't include the fitbit exercise since I don't trust those numbers. Disconnecting might be a good idea so the waters aren't further muddied! Thanks for the link.
  • Oh yes, I do use a food scale.
  • Thanks, but I don't include fitbit in my exercise totals nor do I really follow the fitbit numbers as I don't really understand them. I track exercise separately and base it on weight and time.
  • Thanks so much for the responses, and I will answer a couple of the questions to clarify. I do weigh everything. I just use whatever is easiest in MFP to log, i.e. a 1/4 cup of almonds is (I am doing this from memory) the same as 28 g of almonds and sometimes it is only listed as a 1/4 cup so I just use that instead of…
  • I, too, always find evenings difficult. One of the best things for me is to always plan in advance what I am going to eat each day. Somehow writing/logging it in advance helps me to not eat too much at night. I'm not always perfect but it has helped me so much. Also let's me stack a few more calories at night so that I…
  • Great ideas! Thank you. I do want to lose body fat, tone and gain muscle. Just trying to figure out ways to do it that I will follow through with. I know I am more likely to do things at home or during interludes of nonwork. Thanks for the nice words on my dog! She's awesome.
  • I'm 5'9" and 160 but have been as low as 148 which is where I would like to get again. For those of you who are where you want to be now, or close, how did you get there? Number of calories, amount of exercise, etc? I am really struggling and the scale just isn't moving. Tall women rock! :)
  • OP here. Thanks for all the support and suggestions. I am not trying to lose 5 lbs I am trying to lose 15 - I think that got lost in there somewhere. I do eat all my exercise calories. I recognize that it is great that clothes are fitting better, but here's the thing. It's not as though this weight I've gained was muscle.…
  • I made my diary public and thanks for telling me how to do that! The one thing to note is that my exercise minutes are lower than reality since I use "www.caloriesperhour.com" to estimate them which usually gives me lower numbers than mfp (which is usually too high). So, I just decrease my exercise minutes to get the right…
  • Thanks for the quick responses! I run 3-4 times per week for about 45-50 minutes each time. I am a slow runner - 11.5 minute miles or so. On the weekends I run longer, usually 6 or 7 miles at the same pace on Satruday. On non running days I will do the elliptical trainer or stationary bike for 45-60 minutes. 2-3 times a…
  • What positive thoughts you all have given me! Thank you! I already feel better about this. Isn't it amazing what the written word and a wealth of knowledge can do? THank you!!
  • Whoever put those in didn't weigh the beans after they drained them. They just assumed that the liquid wasn't included in the weight per serving. This is really the craziest thing. I will eat black beans tomorrow and measure everything out so I can provide more accurate information...:ohwell:
  • Whoops! Forgot to include this in my post above - sorry.... neophyte poster...
  • One would think not. but the weight of the can includes the weight of the liquid which is where the problem lies for me.
