I think people "judge" those who are fat based on the fact that losing and maintaining weight requires hard-work and discipline. They view obese people as lazy, and lacking self control. In some cases this is a fair charge, in some cases it is not. I do think the fact that obesity is one of the leading causes of rising…

The app will give you an estimate of calories burned. You will log this under excercise ...... just manually enter the calorie burn (usually lower than MPF gives you credit for) Someday MFP may get their act together and sync from runkeeper.

Well I am glad we were able to settle this for you. It only took 300 posts

I have found the deep swimmers press to be good for "shaping' the shoulder http://www.livestrong.com/article/543075-what-is-a-swimmers-press/ Overhead press, arnold press, Y press are all going to hit slightly different parts of the shoulder. Clean and press will work a whole bunch of muscles in roughly the same amount of…

Go out after dark, or start trail running. ...and yeah go running a few times and it will be much better

Runkeeper or better yet ismooth run. allow you to create intervals. They will also remain useful as you "grow" as a runner. the C25K apps are not useful beyond the first couple months

I would go with a good pair of cross trainers. (get a nice pair plan on spending $60-$100 If you decide to take up running it is very important to get fitted for a quality pair of running shoes.

Set your macro goals under my home -> goals to match the current phase of the program. Then eat what ever foods get you to the correct ratios. You don't need shakeology or the p90X recipes, but correct diet is VERY important if you want results.

Not to be harsh, but you are just prolonging your pain. Quit already and be done with it. Once you are 100% off the cigs the cravings go away completely!!! Cutting back and cheating just drags out the process and makes you experience more cravings

also I found http://www.quitnet.com/qnhomepage.aspx to be a great community and a helpful resource

Quiting smoking is easier than losing weight IMHO. 30 days and the everyday battle of not smoking is behind you. you will experience occasional intense cravings for the remainder of a year, but the quickly become rare. My advice is address the smoking first, that should be your priority it is usually the most pressing…

Alcohol does a lot of things that will make it harder to lose weight. 1) it has a lot of calories 2) it causes the body to store fat more easily 3) it reduces testosterone (not a good thing for someone trying to build / maintain lean body mass) 4) it stimulates appetite and reduces cognitive thinking leading to poor food…

Any of them that have a chest strap, constantly sample and record your heart rate. Polar makes great products.

A few things It is very difficult (but not impossible) to bulk up with out gaining a little fat. You just need to gain mostly muscle and then it is pretty easy to trim the fat off. Buy a few different flavors and types of quality protein powder. It is a fantastic way to add in clean calories. I put 1/2 scoop of vanilla…

are you wearing minimal running shoes? Could be a stress fracture of the 5th metatarsal

Well the real problem is that running produces a lot of moisture. Even the best water proof fabrics only breathe so much. Event fabric has been shown to breathe much better than goretex Something like this should work http://www.rei.com/product/843676/rei-rangeclimber-event-rain-pants-womens I use an REI Event shell jacket…

If your average heartrate is at least 110-115 BPM, then your HRM should have the most accurate calorie expenditure If it is lower than this your heartrate is not a good indicator for calories burned.

Yes it will increase your weight loss. I have no idea what your current fitness level is. Unless your body has been built up to a high level of tolerance for hard workouts, you at a high risk for Over training. Insanity is a tough program by itself. When doing insanity, most people, especially those just starting to…

I have the perfect pushups. I use them for working chest at home. They absolutely give you better results than "regular" pushups. Best when used in combination with barbell / dumbell press, and chest flys My opinion is they are a good value (both for money spent, and workout time for results seen)

^^^ This seems inherently unhealthy ^^^^ Fooducate is a great app I have been using it for a couple of years some other good apps * Ismoothrun (with bluetooth heart rate monitor) (syncs to runkeeper) * runkeeper (with withings body fat scale * sleepcycle (syncs sleep to run keeper)

This is true. However, if you get the unsweetened vanilla almond milk and add a little vanilla protein powder it is delish on cereal and has better macros per calorie than dairy milk. My favorite is unsweetened almond coconut milk with vanilla protein powder, and kashi go lean (9G protein) with fresh berries YUMO IMHO it…
