  • I had this problem when I was first starting out running. When I started increasing my distance I had to start eating something about 10mins before my run. The best thing I found that helped was 2 dates, 4 almonds and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Running for about 20-30 mins I didn't do the coconut oil as I was still…
  • Do you have access to a lap pool? I had a torn meniscus and ACL and that was about the only thing that didn't hurt.
  • I've been vegan for about 7 years and, while I get a craving for some sort of meat every once in a blue moon It's usually because I'm lacking something (most of the time fatty acids). I would recommend going to see a registered dietition instead of a nutritionist though as their certification process is much more rigorous.…
  • During the winter I'll cut it in half (with a really big really sharp knife) and bake it until a fork goes in easily. During the summer I'll do the same but use the grill on the top rack which adds an interesting flavor but you need to spray it with water a few times or it'll get really dried out. My favorite toppings are…
  • I love the soy free one. The sticks are great for pie crusts and empanadas and the shortening sticks are nice for baking. I hear rumors of them having a vegan Mac & Cheese soon too!
  • Shhhhh... Don't tell them. It just leaves more for us
  • I don't measure anything. "Yeah that was about a cup." I figure if I'm a little over on some things and a little under on others it all works out in the end. Plus BMR is just an estimation and it's impossible to log every move you make during the day so the way I see it is if I'm a little under on my food log, well, I've…
  • Explore Asian has black bean spaghetti that's really good. The ingredients are black beans and water.
  • Check this out. http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/diet-pill-reviews/lipozene-review.html This seems to be a very well researched artical on exactly this subject. It looks like, yes it works but why bother, just get some other form of dietary fiber suppliment if you don't want to eat a diet high in fiber.
  • If you're thinking about what and when you're going to eat next it leads me to ask the questions, are you enjoying the meals that you're eating and do you feel satisfied after the meal? If you're not, consider looking for some meals that are large in volume, nutrient dense yet lower in calories to keep your caloric intake…
  • I've found a lot of people don't like most veggies because they only way they've had them is pretty lame. I hated brussels sprouts because the only way I had them was boiled. Then I had them halved and roasted with a little salt pepper and olive oil and now they're one of my favorites. Try that especially if you like…
  • Oreos. I'll eat an entire pack and if there's another pack around, well there won't be soon.
  • Or anything vegan (or can be made vegan) off manjulaskitchen.com
  • I'm not sure about switching up foods. One thing you could do when you're not sleeping well is if you can't fall asleep after about 15-20 mins, stop trying. I'll usually get up, take two melatonin and read a book until I'm falling asleep.
  • If you like Indian food, Manjula's Kitchen is great. I'm not sure of the calories in most of the meals but they're pretty healthy.
  • I would have to agree with everyone else that's posted. Carbs give quick energy. Fat is digested slower and gives energy just about when carbs are dropping off. Caffeine is a big culprit of mid-day energy drain. Maybe try switching to something with less caffeine like teas.
  • I usually get it from Quinoa and Beans. Check out Tim VanOrden (raw vegan) and Brendan Brazier (vegan). Both are very good information.
  • I like the wraps idea. Along with that, you could do tacos or burritos. If you cut up veggies, one thing that saves time is having a nice food processor that has slicer and grater blades.
  • Beans, Fruits and Veggies
  • Agreed but that goes FAR beyond MFP.
  • Oreos get me every time!
  • I've been vegan for about 7 years. I don't think vegetarian to vegan is that hard of a switch. Protein can be difficult if you don't understand what protein is. A single food as a "complete protein" is very hard to come by but if you go by what makes up protein, the vegetable world is filled with all the essential amino…
  • I've been vegan for about 7 years. I'm a climber/runner/swimmer amongst many other things so don't let anyone tell you you can't be active and vegan (as I'm told all the time).
  • Try Explore Asian's Black Bean Spaghetti. The ingredients are Black Beans and Water. I just discovered it and love it. It can work in both asian and italian meals.

  • Quinoa Sundried Tomatoes Kalamata Olives Cucumber Green Onions Red Bell Pepper Olive Oil Oregano Thyme Red Pepper Flakes Nutritional Yeast Salt & Black Pepper if needed depending on how much flavor the sundried tomatoes and olives have.
  • I love my BlendTec. One of my favorites is 4-6 leaves kale, 1 banana, 4 strawberries, water to thin it. I also like to make peanut butter chocolate "mousse" in it. 4 bananas, 1 avocado, 2 Tbsp Peanut Butter, 2.5 Tbsp cacao powder, water to thin it.
  • One of my favorites is mediterranean quinoa. Sorry I don't have amounts, I just add until it tastes good. Quinoa Sundried Tomatoes Kalamata Olives Cucumber Green Onions Red Bell Pepper Olive Oil Oregano Thyme Red Pepper Flakes Nutritional Yeast Salt & Black Pepper if needed depending on how much flavor the sundried…
  • I've been vegan for 6 years and when I first made the switch I was vegetarian for about a week. Vegan wasn't that much different than vegetarian food wise. That said, it is a learning process. Ingredients on prepackaged food are sometimes named so they don't jump out as being non-vegan. It just takes time to get to know…
