When I first started the challenge with my son* on July 1st, 2013, my loss rate exceeded 2 lbs/week. My personal trainer (same son), increased my food intake every two weeks for about 2 1/2 months until we found the point where my body was maximizing food metabolism. Even with the food increases I still lost weight so if…

I have been cooking "clean" lately and one of the tips that I came across was to replace the butter in cake and cookie recipes with unsweetened applesauce. You could also use honey or palm sugar to replace the refined sugar in this recipe as most brown sugar is just white sugar sprayed with molasses . . . go figure!

What is keto7 and what does it do? Same with CLA and chromium pic?

I am looking forward to breaking 100 on the golf course in Mesa, Arizona (when you are from Saskatchewan, Canada anywhere warmed is something to look forward too)!

I agree, weigh yourself as usual and next week will be another story. That is what happened to me our first week . . . I weighed in and then last week the scale only showed a .4 lb loss. This week I am showing a 3.6 lb loss which under normal circumstances is not necessarily a healthy weight loss rate. On another note, I…

Jen - I don't "eat back" calories. My son is a personal trainer and he has developed my program based on my fitness level and my fitness goals. He has set specific grams of carbs, fat and protein. He monitors this weekly and either adjusts my food levels (which he rarely does) or my number of resistance training sessions…

Hi, I'm Terri - 45 year old daughter, sister, friend, community volunteer, wife and working mother of two grown children. For years I have put everyone else first and now it is time for me! When the kids were young I used to stop by the family farm a couple of times a week and regardless of how long it had been since their…

I just posted a recipe for a vegan chili, if you don't have access to fresh pumpkin add 1 can refried beans and a cup and a half of frozen corn - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/takerbrat/view/pumpkin-not-just-for-pie-577842

My "goto" breakfast is Magic Muesli: 1/4 cup fat free Greek yogurt 1/4 cup applesauce 1 tablespoon ground flax 1 tablespoon hemp hearts 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1 tablespoon large flake oats 1 tablespoon nuts of choice (slivered almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews, pumpkin seeds, etc.) 2 tablespoons dried fruit of choice…

I haven't tried it in an avocado but I did bake an egg in a portabella mushroom cap and it was very good.

I made my own breakfast bar for when I was on holidays. It is based on Tosca Reno's Clean Eating version. I posted the recipe with calories/serving, carb grams, fat grams, and protein grams on my blog - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/takerbrat/view/keep-it-clean-557643

I came across this site recently and started to follow it: https://www.facebook.com/WildLives Lots of great recipes and info.

I noticed that many of the recipes posted are sweet, if you are looking for something on the savoury side this recipe is clean and versatile - try it with a side salad for a light lunch, use it as a side dish to salmon, chicken or pork kebabs to get your protein numbers up, AND have the left-overs for breakfast!…

There are lots of views on what is "clean eating", I personally am trying to eliminate pre-packaged, processed foods; as well as refined sugar and wheat flour (the last is out of necessity, not choice). I haven't given up my coffee, nor have I given up the occasional glass of red wine .

Thanks for suggesting this challenge, count me in! I would love to see the recipes that others have either: 1. "cleaned up" like the Honey Apple Lime Coffee Cake recipe I posted in August - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/takerbrat/view/recipe-re-do-honey-apple-lime-coffee-cake-original-and-gluten-free-567314 2. adapted…

The first time that I used MFP I was just trying to stay within the calories that were defined by the info I had entered under my goals. If I exercised, I usually ate the "extra" calories that I had earned and I didn't monitor the carbs, fats, proteins and sugars as long as I stayed within my caloric intake. I wasn't…

There is some fabulous advice on this thread. For me the key has been motivation. As a mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend, co-worker, community volunteer I have spent the better part of my 45 years putting others first. I used to say that I didn't have time to take care of me but that simply wasn't true . . . I wasn't…

Have recently discovered coconut oil . . . love it and count it! When I was researching the benefits I came across a site, Wellness Mamma Community, that listed (and explained) 101 uses for coconut oil. I have recently blogged about it in a couple of different posts: 1.…

On July 1, 2013 my son and I started a challenge . . . over the next 6 months I am going to lose 46 lbs (about 2 lbs/week) and he is going to try to save 15% of his gross pay. He is a personal trainer (and a bodybuilder) so he has set up my program which is based on several variables - eating to specific macros, a specific…

I just posted the following on another message board - In addition to the dry skin brushing you might also try a homemade coffee body scrub (coffee, sugar, oil of choice, cocoa powder and cinnamon).
