Hi folks, I'm Michelle, and I've found this lifestyle helps me to maintain my blood-glucose levels in normal range. Since reversing Type 2 diabetes is important to me, this is working great toward supporting that success. My fasting blood-glucose numbers have been in normal range since giving up the carbohydrates and only…

Afraid of sugar? ... no not exactly, since I am reversing diabetes, sugar (or more specifically ANY carbohydrate more than 45g per meal) is not my friend. Fruit in moderation as a part of my whole food, veggie rich diet, hits the spot nicely.

My favoriet go to snack is fresh sugar snap peas. They have them bagged and ready to eat at the supermarket too! My young grandchildren (Six and two years of age) have taken a fancy to them as well. I also have to agree with the frozen fruit posts above, my favorites are strawberries allowed to come slightly unfrozen. My…

LMBO! I've never heard this before today. Very good perspective, thanks for taking the time to share it with us.

Please consider reading Bob Harper's book "The Skinny Rules" I'm still reading but have learned OH so much! additionally, I add my recent past experience: Am I starving myself? At one point I think I was doing just that, starving myself. I started my calorie journaling/counting at or near 1400 calories, which is what a…

Two unrelated friends of mine had been vegetarian all of their adult lives, one was plump and the other was of normal body weight. The only difference that I could see between them was portion control. Alas the thinner gal passed away from colon cancer. I puzzled over this for quite some time until I realized it was that…

What a great idea! An MFP Clothing Exchange. This is too good of an idea to shrug off. "Thread up" does it for children's clothes. Why not for MFP users? Hmmm...

It has already been said but I have to weigh in, pun intended. 1. Alter them only if you cannot fathom life without them (this will cost money you could spend on new clothing) 2. Attempt to sell them online if they are like new and worth the effort and money it will cost up front (a LOT of effort) 3. Consignment stores for…

Thank you for taking the time to record your reflections on your first 6 months and share it with the rest of us. Your private journey is an inspiration to so many of us here on MFP. I too, needed to hear your words of encouragement today. We started about the same time and have lost about the same amount of weight so far.…

1) Pilates is excellent for toning your core. 2) You might look into different types of Yoga, I've heard great things about that too.

I understand uninsured and I understand heartburn. I took Prilosec OTC for over 5 years and have been able to drop it by making a few changes to my diet. 1) Avoid foods that you KNOW trigger you. For me chocolate and tomato are the worst triggers wih sugar and dairy running close behind. I have given them the heave-ho. 2)…
