I am currently hiking in (men 's) Timberland hiking boots with wool socks or Injinji performance (toe) socks. They REALLY help keep my feet blister-free, which has always been a problem for me in the past. I wear women's size 12, which in nearly impossible to find, so i get stuck in men's boots most of the time, but my…

I got these awesome (and pink!) snowshoes --- something about girly sports stuff makes me happy lol, and i am NOT usually what you'd consider a "girly girl" lol Now... if it would just SNOW!??! (its in tonight's forecast...)

Hi from the Adirondacks! So glad i found you all here! Since i am a total sucker for looking back at my hiking photos (reliving the moment??!!), here are a few snaps of some of my treks over the past year and a half. You'll notice that i am much heavier in my Mount Marcy photo (July 2010) than i am in my Mount Washington…

loved the pics! Congratulations on your loss and for your stick-to-it-iveness ;) Best of luck on your upcoming marathon! woot!

hahahaha! You kill me, Wendy! :P I am going to work on one meal at a time for the time-being, hoping to string enough together without undoing things in between :P ... HOWEVERRRRRRRRRRR my husband is overseas for a little longer and is bringing home a bunch of Bounty Bars for me     If you've never…

I think i did thru week 6 "officially" and then i just took it over on my own.... Haven't had problems and did a 10-mile race in June (started C25K last October). I'm doing a half-marathon in late September, so i need to start doing long runs again to get ready for it... If you feel like you can "wing it" without the…

I'm just shy of 5'10" , medium-framed and am currently 158.5lbs ... My initial goal was 174.0 which was just into the "healthy" BMI range but when i finally got there, i realized that being "just into healthy" wasn't really my goal: being ACTUALLY healthy was, (and for me, i knew i had much further to go), so i lowered my…

yep, they question if we actually need to get to a healthy weight, adding that "a little bit of fat looks good on a person" (and by that, they mean slightly overweight. I concede that no one should --or could-- be at 0% fat lol). And when you get close to your goal weight, not only do they question if you need to go…

related to the green concept: I've always wanted to hook up my tv so that you'd need to pedal or walk to run it --- ok, probably wouldn't fully power it, but for the tv to operate you'd need to be exercising (or paying someone to do it for you! LOL!)

well, maybe there is hope for me yet, then! LOL!!! Eggs make me gag  and i do NOT eat seafood of ANY sort. FREAKS. ME. OUT. SERIOUSLY. Like full-blown anxiety attack and tears. :noway: :embarassed:  I'd eat eggs for $1000 but i wouldn't eat seafood for $1,000,000 if that tells ya something

i agree! And great job on your weight loss thus far! Woot!! :drinker:

well, since MFP allows us to set our own goals, IMO we are tweaking the process from the very beginning. There are no "good foods" or "bad foods" just targets to watch. Yes, the macros DO matter (carb/fat/protein) so watch them too. The system is set up to allow a person to succeed at losing weight even without exercise,…

i just did my first 10-mile race yesterday and am doing a half in September... i admire your dedication and endurance! I am only guessing, but i would think that adding in some strength training days would help not only on your times, but also with your weight loss goals. Have you been keeping a food diary to see your…

I think i lose a good portion of every day looking at myself in the mirror.  I was afraid it was vanity (and i am not normally a vain person). Its nice to know that i am working on retraining my mind/eyes and that what i am doing is "normal". I see changes more easily in side-by-side photos, but i don't have…

Very interesting little study you've done there... would be fascinating to see a controlled, scientific study of this (or links to already existing studies). For those who are looking to know what phase they are in, a great (free) site to use is http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ Basically you will monitor your basal body…

Mine is public. I'm not perfect, but hey, who is? I welcome the feedback i get. I am actually thinking to give the link to my food diary to my bootcamp instructor when that class starts next month... He was ribbing me at a recent 5k for eating a piece of pizza and i was like "Its ONE slice of pizza. I am fine with it.... I…

I see you're a hiker/outdoorsy person, so maybe a nice 1/2 hour nature trek daily, paired with plenty of water and proper sleep will help in addition to the tweaks in your diet/settings already mentioned. Make sure you are getting exposure to fresh air and sunshine regularly! Oh and coffee ;) :drinker:

BTDT!!! :blushing: :grumble: Make sure you are hitting/are over on your fiber target (you can change your food diary settings to watch fiber) and are getting in 8-10 IF NOT MORE cups of water every day. When you add/up your fiber intake you need to up your water intake correspondingly!!! Exercise helps keep things moving…
