Cottage cheese is good, but not for my husband, and if he keeps eating all mine, he will find his health dramatically effected, and not for the better! LOL! :grumble:

i copied and pasted your links into my browser and wow, what a transformation! You're looking wonderful and i bet you're feeling wonderful too! Congratulations!

IMO, you MAY be able to cut back on eating back your exercise calories the DAY AFTER a big splurge (staying over 1200 net always!) but you should listen to your body... If you are doing a shorter duration activity with less than 300 calories burned, IMO you will have no problem skipping them, but anything intense or…

yes, the ads are google-powered ads and can be related to this site (health, weightloss, fitness, diet, etc), the subject of a particular convo thread (keywords pulled), sites you've recently visited, things you've done internet searches for, companies whose emails you've recently opened, etc... Google Ad Sense pulls this…

No offense, but please disregard this post above ^^^ as its an inaccurate definition of Net calories. If her daily calorie allowance was 1200 and she did 400 calories worth of exercise, she now has a 1600 daily allowance for that day to cover the added caloric expenditure that her body made. The calories you eat in a day…

This recipe has been sitting on my counter for a few weeks, patiently waiting its turn: Note: I have never made this recipe, so i don't know what tweaks could/should be made... If you do make some, please post back with tweaks that you think work :) Spicy Crunchy Chickpeas  2 Tbsp olive oil 1 tsp cinnamon 1…

a few ideas: buy one of the refillable type spray containers that are made specifically for misting olive oil (specialty kitchen shops should have them --- or google it. I don't remember the brand name for ours). You pump air in, which give it its "aerosol" power instead of relying on (chemical) propellant. Then mist…

good call :) I just looked thru a bit of your food diary and (not including today's entries) i see that you've been under 1200 net for quite a while now... between that and what you said in your original post about over-estimating food and under-estimating exercise, i am confident that you were running into trouble because…

well if you really think you might be underestimating your exercise and overestimating your food, then you probably are actually falling below 1200 NET calories, see what i'm saying.... try measuring/counting/weighing everything as accurately as possible and do you use a HRM while exercising? That will give you the most…

stacey - congratulations on your new house! How exciting! RockVixen - welcome to the SAHM thread :) (i am new too) I *totally* understand what you mean about letting housework and laundry slide down the list of priorities! haha! In my case its not just the time gone exercising (the active portion of it) but the time…

cool that your son lost his first tooth today! Mine lost his 2 days ago and another friend's son, yesterday!! Must be the week for teeth falling out

awww thanks all for the warm welcome and the compliments :blushing: Its been a busy week and its my first time getting back to this thread. Had a hellish visit to the allergist with my little guy today. Well, i shouldnt say hellish because it could have been much worse, but still not fun at all.. and long! YAWN! He's still…

first, let me say that i am currently set at a goal of losing 1 lb a week now that i have crossed over into the high-end of "normal" bmi. I try not to eat all the way to goal even on my rest days, but i do get close and always stay over 1200 net. I typically am closer to 1350 net. I *do* eat back my exercise calories and…

i made it thru the allergist appointment with my 3-year-old with my sanity intact :) i ate a cupcake and had room in my calorie allotment to do so (even if it wasnt the best nutritional choice) My 6-year-old finished his homework without too much badgering My 3-year old got a bit roughed up playing with his brother and…

wow, i was just about to suggest the very same thing! :) ..... And i like to use a spoon of ranch plus a spoon of salsa so there is plenty of that "dressing feel" but not tons and tons of ranch greek yogurt + dry Hidden Valley Ranch mix + a splash of milk  and you can mix up a single portion at a time if you want :)

i have no idea about the calorie burn (i'm sure its a quite a lot!) but wanted to wish you luck and to have fun!! I am excited about my first Dash, which will be in August.

hey there everyone, i never knew there was a SAHM thread here on MFP :) I have a 6 yr old who is in 1st grade and a 3yr old who is home with me during the day. He is just starting nursery school after 2 failed attempts earlier in the school year (i am staying this time as a classroom helper until he settles in --- which…

I'm in for 3500... too bad today doesn't count, lol, i did my longest run to date! (7.3 miles). Tomorrow will most likely be a light run, long walk combo :) Thanks for posting the challenge :)

i'm 5'10" -- ok, more like 5'9 3/4" -- and my goal is 155 so i think your 160 sounds perfect to me! For a while i had my goal set to 140 but then i realized that would be too thin for me, especially since i am trying to become more athletic, not just "skinny". I agree with the others who've said to get to 160 and see how…

i like how MFP teaches more about general nutrition, sports nutrition and has tons of information on exercise in addition to weightloss info. Much more well-rounded! If i were doing WW i would be paying attention to calories, fiber and water and thats about it. I have learned SO MUCH thru MFP!

sorry if this has been mentioned already but the shorter you are, the faster you will have noticable differences. A 10 lb loss will show more on a 5' person than someone who is 5'10", know what i mean? that said, i still have days where i don't feel different although i know in my head that i am

do you have a 24 hour fitness place near you? Maybe you could meet a friend(s) there and do a friendly workout & gab session there and then go grab a skinny latte or something? I sometimes meet a friend of mine at starbucks (yes, at 9pm) and I get a skinny/nonfat/whatever they call it latte and we sit in the comfy chairs…

really good marble rye bread, toasted with peanut butter, banana slices and honey. At least 2 slices. Washed down with some hot tea. YUM

i was raised catholic, converted to islam and very much appreciate it when people don't get 'religiony' on me (and i promise to give you the same respect!) :flowerforyou: I wonder what sorts of comments i will get come ramadan lol! (but as you can probably deduce from my profile pic, i am not very religious)

make a delicious salad: a morningstar farms spicy black bean burger (cooked and chopped into a bazillion pieces) 2-3 cups (or more!) of romaine, baby greens, etc 1/2 cup thawed frozen corn 1/2 cup canned low sodium black beans, drained and rinsed desired amount of salsa a few Tbsp of Wholly Queso (get it in the produce…

first off, let me say i am more than twice your age, but very close in height and weight. So i totally understand how you might feel in your body; like you'd like to lose 20 more pounds to look fierce for your vacation. But please, please listen to us. 500 calories a day is not enough to properly nourish your body. In ten…

i haven't given up anything completely, i just plan it in and make the portions small and the frequency lessened. There are lots of junky things that i would love to eat and i do eat most of them sooner or later, but not all on one day and always in measured portions. I enjoy the added caloric freedoms of a high-burn day…
