I avoid eating just before bed because it gives me reflux if I lay down after eating too close to bed. But the whole "don't eat after 7 etc" junk is just a myth. So base it on what you feel comfortable with. I often have a snack at 9pm but I don't go to bed til 11-11:30.

Make lots of mini goals, I had more than 80lbs to lose when I started last August. I'm down 72lbs now but it took me a YEAR to do that!!! So I did goals for every 10lbs and some random other ones too (like hitting 199 etc). The rewards were NOT food no matter what. It helped me focus on shorter increments and not be…

Yup fat is fat, and muscle is muscle, they don't turn into one another ;) What you do is reduce fat and build muscle. Without weight training you're not building much muscle, especially if you're still losing weight. You lose both muscle and fat when losing weight so weight training is important to minimize muscle loss and…

There have been people having issues with them for half and full marathons because you're running on concrete. I'm going to see if I can find the article where a runner told some of the issues he had. YAY! didn't think I would find it that quick. http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/health/articles/2011/01/09/youre_crazy/ Even…

I'm torn because it's something that's about religion. I would HOPE that people that practice that kind of thing for any reason would be willing to stop in the middle of something if they felt ill and that their coaches would watch for those signs so that they would pull them if needed. There is an NFL player that…

/wave! In June I decided I wanted to be a runner. So I started the C25k program (couch to 5k). It's AWESOME!! I just finished W8D1 and I LOVE running, I ran 2 extra min yesterday just because I wanted to :D I trade off running outside and on my own treadmill. I'm bad at pacing myself on the road so I got jog.fm app which…

Good post! I'm a nursing student and we've done some info on how the body takes in and breaks down things we eat which only proves to me the "It's WHAT you eat, not when you eat it" mentality. I'm a horrible breakfast eater, there I said it!! But I've lost 71lbs in a year. Of course I'm pretty close to a real healthy…

I make sure that I am NETTING 1200 calories a day, so I eat back enough of my exercise calories to reach that. I find that for me if I even just net 1200 calories a day for too long I stop losing, so I need to up my net to 1500 for a couple days or a week and then I drop weight again. Rinse and repeat because then I stop…

You're missing out on a lot of good stuff, and protein etc in the yolk part of the egg. of course if you're not eating it then don't count it but I'd encourage you to try it different ways to find a way you like it. :D
-
70 calories for the whole egg no matter if it's boiled or in a pan (of course if ya cook in IN something like butter etc that has calories but the egg is still 70), the 17 calories sounds like the egg white only. Eat the whole thing it's good for you :D

Are you getting enough protein after you run? I usually do a protein shake afterward. I'm definitely not crashing and feeling sleepy after running. I find it rejuvenates me and keeps me going if anything. I'd also like to see what your diary looks like to see how many total calories you're eating, your body needs fuel so…

Are you weight training/strength training. Building muscle will promote losing fat.

Crunches and sit ups are the worst way to get a flat belly. There are so many other GREAT Core exercises for tummies. I'm using P90X's Ab Ripper video, plus the strength training for my over all body and finding that I'm losing inches off my belly (my tough spot too).
-
I was thinking the same thing. Eating WAY under your calories is a disservice to you and your body. If you eat close to what MFP gives you (and I eat back most of my exercise calories as well) you will likely find that you'll start losing again. It usually takes a couple weeks of eating more to suddenly drop weight though…
-
Are you eating the right KIND of calories now? How about eating back your exercise calories? I know that now I'm much more affected if I don't eat the RIGHT kinds of things, enough protein is key for me, especially when I'm working out HARD. Edit: i'm down 71lbs in 1 year with another 12-15 to go :D

I was thinking chili too. I'd use some stewed tomatoes (leave the juice from the can in) and shredded chicken, or ground turkey (cook and toss in to the mix). Season how you like it, I like my chili SPICY!

If we don't change we die. My original goal was to weigh 165lbs. I've since re-evaluated that and it's no longer my goal. My goal is now 159 which is the TOP of my healthy BMI. While BMI isn't the whole picture I do believe that being in the range of healthy BMI IS important. But I've also added other goals, running a 5K,…

I did it 99% of the time. IF I have red meat it's a REALLY good steak, not ground beef junk. I switched to ground turkey in my chili and no one even noticed ;) It's great! I season as I cook it but it goes into just about everything you ever made with ground beef, and the pre-made seasoned turkey burgers are GREAT. I think…

I was going to ask if you've reduced/eliminated caffeine and about sodium as well. Too much sodium makes me feel hung over the next day, and skipping the caffeine takes awhile to get used to. I think it does warrant a trip to the doctor to be sure nothing else is going on too. Feel better.

LOL no actually Check Yes or No wasn't our song! That makes it even funnier I suppose. He says he was just terrified I'd say no and couldn't speak. Even though we'd already talked about it, silly man! I was 19 and he was 25 when we got married :D We're still those oooy gooy lovey dovey people ;)
-
Well my now husband of 9 1/2 years proposed in a note. It read "Will you marry me?" Check yes or no and there were little boxes next to YES and NO. It's framed in my bedroom. It's so corny and that's what really makes it special.

You need to be fitted at a real running store. What works for me won't for you ;) Getting fitted where they evaluate your gait and what you like will make a HUGE HUGE difference and reduce injuries.

Just remember that potatoes and corn are really starches not "real" veggies.

The only form of birth control PROVEN to cause weight gain is the Depo Shot. Mirena is progesterone only and stays fairly localized in your uterus, it's not through your whole body like the pill, depo etc. I've had the Mirena for almost 5 years now (5 in Feb). It obviously hasn't hindered my weight loss. I think that a lot…

www.skinnytaste.com The Santa Fe Chicken is AMAZING, The easiest broccoli and pasta is really great too and WAY filling when I didn't expect it to be.

Plan ahead. I admit I'm not a great breakfast eater but I try. And while packaged food isn't great I found that it was the only way for me to regularly would eat breakfast during school (full time nursing student, wife and mom here LOL). So the Jimmy Dean Delight breakfast things are great. For making breakfast 2 whole…

Just remember that while the first couple of weeks big losses are normal it you have a lot to lose (I had over 80 pounds to lose to hit the TOP of my healthy BMI) after that it usually slows down to 1-2lbs a week which is a healthy SUSTAINABLE weight loss. So make sure your goals are realistic for that. You're going to do…
-
It does get easier, sort of. You get stronger about saying no :D Only YOU decide what you put in your body, no one holds a gun to your head, so no matter how many people try you just need to remember that. My mother (who lives with me) is queen of the bringing home bakery and getting mad if it doesn't get eaten, well…
-
You can do this! Early on (the first 6 or 8 weeks) I had to be very good, no slips because I needed time to create a new habit. Last night I went out for my birthday and I ate badly, doesn't matter to me now because today I'll be back to eating normal (which is within my MFP calories is now normal!) Also know that friends…

I found that once I'd been on track awhile that I could just have ONE glass of wine, or a SMALL piece of cake etc and not fall off track, heck if I plan ahead I can fit it into my normal calories and for sure into maintenance calories. Also my friends stopped asking after I said no thank you after awhile because they knew…
