I know this is sort of old but I thought I'd reply anyhow. My husband was diagnosed with MS almost 6 years ago. He eats a well rounded healthy diet, low in crap. We don't eat hardly any red meat and we try to eat a balanced healthy diet. Exercise and weight lifting can actually be a great thing for MS patients and help…

I've been here for a year, I have no gym membership and I've lost 74lbs so far. I did buy an elliptical machine which I love! and have also now added a treadmill (Which I got at an estate sale for a steal!). I spent about $800 on my new elliptical machine (the first one I had was free of Craigslist and I used it for about…

That is not normal. I've been here losing weight for over a year now and while early on sometimes I felt obsessive I really wasn't. I do not weigh myself multiple times a day, I don't beat myself up if I go over one of my macros or heck even my calories. The world will not end if I go over. Being skinny will not make me…

I'm in Wisconsin too! We just talked about this today :D http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/330920-running-in-the-winter Then I found this guy's Youtube and it's what I'm going to do. I'm not going to be stuck on the treadmill all winter!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eC5toC0vms edit: it's not in the video but…

You're 5'1" so fairly petite, I'll assume you have a medium or small frame as well. Is it absolutely necessary? No one knows what works exactly for you but YOU. So if you hit a plateau then the first thing I would do it look at your net calories and UP them. I know it feels counter intuitive but it does work for MANY MANY…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eC5toC0vms I just watch that video and it really looks like the key to running in the winter. I need to SEE how some layers something for me to get it (LOL). I think I might be excited to run in the winter, and I HATE winter LOL.

What about when it's cold to breath? I'd wear a scarf or something over my mouth but honestly it makes me feel claustrophobic. Is this something that if I start out with it being only cool (well it's still hot) that I'll get used to as a gradual thing, instead of feeling like it's shocking?

I'm in Wisconsin and getting nervous about this too. I've read great things about Under Armour's winter lines. I'd love to hear from long time winter runners (REAL winter people :P). I do NOT want to be stuck on my treadmill all winter long!

This is where you need to tell the other person "I'm angry right now and I need to go for a walk. When I come back I'll be cooled down and we can talk". Learning to let things roll of your back is a big thing too. I've definitely learned that it's just not arguing over most things in life :D

This is one of those places a HRM really does make a difference.

I run. Really. My husband and I started a rule when we first got married that we have a safe word during an argument or a bad day etc. If he hears it from me he knows I'm serious and I just need space, that's the clue to leave me the heck alone for awhile until I have time to cool off.

I love Ab RipperX and the Yoga video!

If you've greatly reduced portion size from what you were eating before here it's going to happen. I know when I started the first 4-6 weeks I did think I was hungry, a year later I can't believe that I ate like I used to. I'm so used to eating smaller portions and less food overall. It does get better!! A handful of nuts…

Enell sports bras. I was a 40DDD and now I'm a 36DD and they are AMAZING. I RUN in mine and my girls stay put. No double bras to make me hotter than I already get running.

Mine is open to my friends, and I don't friend everyone who sends a request either. I do friend people with good stories, or goals similar to mine or just because you gave me a good reason to friend you LOL. My diary is not public to the world because it's none of your business what I eat and how much I eat. I don't eat in…

Another C25K vote, I just completed week 9 of the program. I was an AVID walker before this but had never run, running is it's own workout and needs to be started slowly so you don't injure yourself or get discouraged. The c25k is an awesome way to work up to running 30 min at a time! The first stop you need to make is to…

You need a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM). One with a chest strap, something like the Polar7 is very popular and works very well. MFP definitely only estimates calories burned, so until you have a HRM only eat back half of the exercise calories to be conservative :D

What will you regret more tomorrow? Working out or not working out? I know that tomorrow I would regret not working out unless I was really sick or something so I always do it!
-
Unless it's what I think of as spring cleaning (moving furniture, boxes, etc) I don't log it. Even when I get down and scrub the floors. I did it when I got fat so it obviously wasn't a real workout. I'm set to sedentary so I probably COULD log it but I feel like it's a disservice to myself.

Wow we have a shortage a lot here even with being able to donate more often. Do you hear that you have shortages? Or do you think more people do it because it's allowed less often? Here we can start donating at 16, so I've been doing it awhile!
-
You not in the US? Here we donate every 56 days actually, so I guess that's more like 8 weeks. I've NEVER been iron deficient. I don't even eat red meat either. They prick your finger and check hemoglobin level before donation, along with blood pressure. So yup I donated every time I can. I'm a regular scheduled…
-
It depends. Honestly I skip my long run the night after giving blood or have to cut it short because I haven't been running that long so running is still pretty intense for me. I make sure I get my work out in before I donate on that day. It's important to make sure you drink enough fluids and eat some extra after you…

This is fast :P 5mph is about a 12 min mile. I finished my first 5k (on my treadmill) doing a 13:30 min/mile. Tonight when I ran outside I was doing 12:35 min mile. Start slower :D so it's BARELY faster than a walk. Speed WILL come, when I started I was going even slower than I am now LOL.

Oh it makes me so sad to see so many women thinking they need two sports bras. There ARE bras out there for women with big boobs. double bras do not give the support that we need, shell out the money for a good one and you're boobies will thank you!!!!

Buy an Enell Brand sports bra! I started at a 40DDD and now I'm down to a 36DD but I still use one and it's AMAZING! They're like $60 a piece but SOOOOOO worth it, I really couldn't have done it without one! You won't have to wear two either! I will tell you that they are odd to get used to because they have hooks like a…

Yup the closer you are to an ultimate weight goal the SLOWER it goes, I don't think it's harder just that it comes off at only 1/2 a pound a week or so, so it takes much longer. My first 65 came off pretty quickly for me (all things considered) and yet the rest is coming off much slower because my body is afraid there's a…

I lost the first 50lbs with just walking and occasional elliptical use. Now I'm running but that's just because I wanted something different to do. I just walk at a fast pace but I can still carry a conversation on for 30-45 min, when I started it was probably 3/4 times a week. Now I have a treadmill too, so I run or walk…

Have you been to a real running store and fitted for shoes? If not that would be my next stop. It's so important to have proper shoes for your gait to help prevent injuries. Edit: Definitely don't be doing this every day. I just finished W9D3 this week, and I'm just running 5Ks to train for speed now before a race next…

Sometimes if I have something special I'll change to maintenance calories for the day, I've never gone over maintenance calories since I've been here over a year and I've only switched it to that for the day maybe 6/7 times in a year.
