This! I am working to better my body's health and appearance by losing weight. But, it is important for me to celebrate my body NOW. For me, that means sexy lingerie even when no one is looking, taking care if my skin and a seasonal visit to the MAC counter for updated makeup tips. I swim and sun. I wear clothes that fit…

Also, wait a couple of days before weighing. You may be surprised to find you really didn't do much damage! Hills and valleys are part of this journey. The only trick is not to get stuck there. :)

It happens to the best of us! Drink some water, cool or warn with lemon. It will soothe your tummy, help digestion and clear the sodium from your system. Relax and plan (not wish---plan) for a better day tomorrow.

If you do want a drink, Skinny Girl cocktails are popular at a lot of places. But, if I have alcohol, my good judgment about food goes right out the window! So, be cautious.

SIMPLE SAUTE I use canola or grapeseed oil for their high heat tolerance. Chop kale. Warm oil to medium in pan. Add kale by handfuls, stirring as it reduces. Sprinkle a little salt and cayenne pepper. Squeeze lemon juice over greens. Cover and turn off heat. Greens will finish cooking in steam and the lemon with cut the…

Hmmm. Buttered popcorn is mostly popcorn. Does that mean the butter doesn't count? Nothing but water hydrates and cleanses like water. Everything else adds something to the body that requires more water to cleanse.

DANGER That is a slippery slope. Off is off and it just leads to more off. And then you'll be wondering why you are gaining back the weight. I feel you. I'd love to not have to journal or keep track. But, for me, one chip leads to another and then then next and. . .you know! So, why not just plan to have a bag of chips or…

Water. And seltzer water. Club soda contains sodium. Coffee (even decaffeinated) contains caffeine as do many diet drinks. And artificial flavorings have chemicals. Each of them is dehydrating. I don't pretend not to drink all of these. But I don't count them as water. In fact, according to something I read, you should…

Right. We should exercise AND eat well. But on rough days, one is better than none!

Sooooo impressed. You can't give up now. Those of us with long journeys to go need your inspiration.

Congrats on what you lost. And what you found. :)

I swim and do water aerobics. So I have to go to the gym! Getting dressed, packing my stuff and going there makes it a serious endeavor so I am sure to get my workout done. Depending on where I go, I also get the treats of using lots of water exercise equipment, a jacuzzi, a sauna, their towels that I don't have to wash…

I can speak from experience as I have, many times, committed to a weight loss effort, achieved some success and then "backslid" into old habits. The things I do are to stop keeping track of what I eat, start "treating" myself without an honest accounting of how many calories I'm taking in and give myself much more caloric…

My experience has been much the same. My weight loss has been slooooow. But, since about 3 months ago, I can wear clothes that I had put away in a container marked "SMALL". Whether on the scale or not, I count it as a measurable weight loss. Measurable by my body getting sexy again!

I feel you. I had two surgeries this year (in April and May). Afterward, I was nauseous a lot of the time and barely had an appetite. So, imagine my surprise when, a few days after the second procedure, they weighed me and told me that I had gained 14 pounds! BUT, they said it was a normal response for my body to have…

I totally agree with this! The best thing any of my friends or family ever does for me to just join me in doing something healthy. It supports my effort without shining a spotlight on me or my "weight issues". I want to be seen, by my family and friends, as someone with whom they want to share some fun (a swim, a walk, any…

Lots of people lose weight lots of ways and put it back on. As your friend is under medical supervision has no identified reasons for being unable to lose weight through cutting calories and exercise, she should be able to use the same techniques as everyone else. Those would include calculating how many calories she…

You have a high sodium intake and, unless you are not logging it, drinking virtually no water. I find that my water intake really does make a difference in what I see on the scale.

You're fun. I am not in the UK. I am also not a serial killer. But I do know all about them because I watch Luther! :)

What he said! I think of myself as an intelligent woman but it took me weeks of keeping my food diary to accept that for whatever reason- - -low blood sugar, entertainment, comfort- - -I want something to eat at night. So, I finally started planning for it. Sometimes, I even enter my favorite snack the day before. That…

Let me translate for you. What she really said was, "Finally! You are eating something that I would eat. So, for once, I don't have to question whether my food choices are healthy. "Cause any other day, watching you that damned hummus would make me feel like a pig!" Her comment did not deserve a response. Let her deal with…

Me too! A lot of those foods combined items that, separately, would be great. But I don't want my macaroni and cheese ON my burger. I love the simple things like popcorn with butter - - - the nice but naughty snack.

I started by trading foods that I want to eat for foods that are better for me: Oil popped popcorn for butter TO Air popped popcorn with spray oil Ice cream TO Smoothie (1 frozen banana, 1 cup of 2 per cent milk, 1/2 cup of frozen berries) Diet drink TO Infused water (Cucumber slices, orange, lime or lemon wedges) White…

Life lesson: Everyone is not going to agree with you about everything. And you are not going to agree with them. If you feel sure that your colleague's information is inaccurate and inapplicable to you, ignore it.

Not pathetic. Every change for the better is a good one! So, you are entitled to celebrate. After a recent hip surgery, I could not reach my feet. When I could finally polish my own toenails, I emailed all of my friends!
