Well, as we here in state service are wont to say, "Close enough for government work". A differential of 40 calories (1040 vs 1080) is not really that big of a deal. Most caloric values in the real world are estimates, some pretty close, others not so good. Now if the difference were >25%, I'd start looking for further…

Yuppers, that seems to be the case. I've got skin sagging on my upper thighs, tricep area and a bit in the "pooch", but clothing that fits properly ( and does not look like it was manufactured by Coleman Tent Supply) and resistance training seem to be lessening the total sag. At least now you can actually see the muscles…

From blocking out the sun to day in the sun, excellent work.

Sometimes, depends on what activities I've been doing. If I've biked to work and back and did my usual aerobic exercise (elliptical or Jazzercise), I'll eat back the bike calories and try to leave the the majority of the other one's untouched. If it's just the aerobics for the day, I'll try and only eat back half. But if…

Degree in Genetics, work as an industrial hygienist (pocket protectors AND high water pants). And no, an industrial hygienist does not clean out gear teeth.

Umm, one day? Gain so much weight? That would be NOT! Once is a while, no big deal. Daily basis, big deal. I mean, you're at your target weight. As penance, I command to you reset your loss goal for 1.5 lbs/week for 1 week, ....oh, and three Hail Marys. Go and sin no more, or until the next party with the irresistible…

18!?! Pints? I bow to the superior liver enzymes.

Hey, that's been my plan all along. Check by through my diary and you'll see Capt. Morgan and IPAs all over the place. Just not EVERY day. Some days, usually when I'm traveling, the microbrewery is my number one source of nutrition.

Well, I don't know, other than health. But in general, it can be done. I started at your weight and at twice your age (granted, I've got that testosterone thing going in my favor, but still) and have gotten in the neighborhood of where I want to be after nine months. For me, this 10 point plan worked: 1. Record everything,…

My first name is fairly famous in educational establishments but is almost never used as a first name. Middle name is run of the mill, last name is the most common in the world (there are a whole bunch of Chinese, and "Smith" aint got nothin' on our last name's frequency).

Oddly enough, diet sodas are an integral part of overall consumption and it seems to work pretty good for me. Proof, pudding, all that stuff.

You sure he was not thinking you wanted to see another movie with Kevin BACON? Understandable then.

Feel free to look, but no horrified faces allowed, its been working so far...

Four Locos, 680 cals per can, and not primarily from ethanol, but from sucrose!

I'm a large frame person (thumb/finger just barely touches) and have a goal of 175. However, at 188, my clothes are fitting in the size I want (32/34 waist), I have greater flexibility and endurance, I just feel better, and, oddly enough, I'm starting to look just a tad gaunt (according to my wife). I may reset my goal to…

The USS CokeZero, under the command of Capt. Morgan, is leaving dry dock and setting sail tonight.

Underestimate your calories burned, overestimate your calories consumed and try not to eat all your exercise credit calories. Works for me.

I was doing pretty much the same thing, 7 hour death march at the water-park in Roseville. I tagged it as 140 minutes of walking, came out to about 500 kcals. Sounds okay, maybe low (constant walking up stairs/ramps, all over the friggin' park and hauling up quad rafts, most likely burns more but let's not get greedy). Not…

As James Bond would say: Die(t) Another Day. There's always tomorrow. Just get back on the plan and soldier on, it will continue to work. One day out of seven, no big deal. Six days out of seven, we've got a problem...

Where has this website been all my life! Death to 4loco (too much sugar not enough ethanol for the calories [680/can])

Well, as an ex-Jazzercise instructor, I didn't find it a problem that I was the object of a group of women's complete attention, even when I was jumping up and down in skimpy, tight fitting clothing and yelling at them (though never to get me a samich).... As a student now (Jazzercise does not want to let me recertifiy,…

Works as an indicator of weight loss, so sounds good to me. I had to get a different wedding band after I'd larded on the pounds, but now I'm back to my old ring and can now put my class ring on my right middle finger, where it used to reside.

If its Monday, it must be Jazzercise (or Wednesday or Saturday).

Dude, it's like you stepped into a time machine and hit the way-back button for 10 years earlier (in appearance). Gotta love that.

Agree for sure. More dense and more of it and relatively cheap. Not that low cost food is intrinsically bad, considering the alternative (i.e. many Third World Heckholes). And I think that nutrition is badly, if at all, taught in school. Home-Ec just fell out of fashion, I guess.
