  • Will there be any kind of explosive device or weaponized bioagent attached?

  • Though the eating of live animals is pretty much part and parcel of nature and the way things go in the wild. Bears and lions and sharks don't carefully and painlessly euthanize their prey, they simply bite the heck out of it till it stops moving, then dinner time! Same with all predators, all the way down to the…
  • Otay, that specific situation would likely entail considerably less risk than in an environment with large moving machines around you. Note there are still others out and about on the off-road bike paths and reducing your awareness inputs still entails some added risk (relative to full sensory awareness), but your point is…
  • From Wikipedia; Tooth: The shape of the animal's teeth are related to its diet. For example, plant matter is hard to digest, so herbivores have many molars for chewing and grinding. Carnivores, on the other hand, need canines to kill prey and to tear meat. and The four canines in humans are the two maxillary canines and…
  • Well, I did have two semicolons and an interrobang, but I'm feeling pretty solidus now.
  • Industrial Hygienist for the State of California, specializing in pesticides. And no, an industrial hygienist does not clean gear teeth.
  • Well, just off the top of the google search: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1231835/Generation-cycling-iPod-zombies-blamed-rise-deaths-road.html and http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2009/12/10/headphone_death.ART_ART_12-10-09_A1_KUFUT8R.html Anecdotal data, for sure, but from little reports great…
  • Um, just saying, but there is a special term for folks who engage in such activity, it's "organ donor". Just make sure your card is up-to-date...
  • Your motto for this should be: Officium Subigo (Duty Compels). Do the right thing (Operor rectus res, by the way)

  • Four Loko. Oh man, 680 calories, are you kidding me? And it's not even that much ethanol calories either, too much sugar! As they say, candy is dandy but liquor is quicker...
  • Bilateral hip joint replacement. Don't want to develop premature failure of the implants, so I use an elliptical machine and do low impact/high intensity jazzercise. Used to run back in the day, even race-walked a marathon. But that's back then, and delaying replacement surgery is now.
  • So do you have a copy of "To Serve Man" in your library or in your kitchen?
  • Ditto, Sunday mornings. I use that as the official weight that I track with.

  • And next thing you know, they're being referred to Cookies Anonymous.
  • Oh, I finally found the nutrition/ingredient panel. Lots of water in most of their stuff. But there is a store nearby that carries it! The "Whipped Peanut Spread", she calls me and I must answer! Coming next week, "fried styrofoam bacon", taste treat or spawn of the devil?
  • To be fair, you'll note that they do not even call it "peanut butter", but instead "whipped peanut spread". Most likely this stuff does not meet the identity requirements for calling it PB, pretty much a tip off that it aint gonna be anywhere near the Real McCoy. Kind of like McD's "shakes". Caveat Emptor, or in this case,…
  • Captain Morgan and Coke Zero (check my diary if you don't believe). There are some 0 Cal margie mixes available, got one a few weeks back. All those calories in the margie are from the fruit juice and sugar, the alcohol itself has the standard value of around 65 Cals/ounce for 80 proof booze. By the by, 1 shot = 1.5 oz, so…

  • Try this website. Does your meal have snow peas? It may be classified as snow peas and chicken (trust me on this, my family owned a Chinese restaurant for 13 years). Could also be Moo Goo Gai Pan. 1 cup Chicken & Snow Peas (200 cal/17 g fat/7 g carbs) 1 cup Moo Goo Gai Pan (190 cal/9 g fat/9 g carbs)
  • After any major eat-a-thon kind of weekend (luckily July 4th is on a Wednesday, so the harm is minimized), do the following: Step One: Put the scale in the attic in the garage, under at least four or five suitcases. Step Two: Do your usual MFP kind of stuff for a week or more Step Three: Retrieve scales. Now weigh…
  • I've got one pair of my 44 Tactile 511s, 4 pair of 42s, 4 pair 40s, am now into my Nordsport 38s and they are getting looser, have hauled out the 36s (Nordsport and Brittania) that are somewhat snug (not tight) right now and have the 34s still in the storage box. I'll be sending off most of my large clothes, but will keep…
  • Buy 4 pair of my favorite pants (Tactical 511) since I now longer fit in the ones I used to wear (Waist sizes 44, 42, 40) and am making do with my older pants from the bygone thinner era (size 38 almost 36). Luckily I never wore Angle Flites... Hoping to finalize at 32 or 34 waist. By the by, anyone want some Tactical 511s?
  • Well, if you insist, I'm very "progressive" that way...
  • It has been awhile since I used to do it, but RACE walking does burn more than running. At about 4.5 MPH, the natural gate transfers normally from the walking stride to a running stride. Race walkers, who have to maintain a specific movement style (essentially one foot always in contact with the ground), are moving using a…
  • Judging from my report, it took me about 2 months to drop 30 lb. But then again, I'm obsessive/compulsive about MFP datalogging and keeping the values where they should be. Exercising 5X week helps too.
  • I've owned a Nautilus (not sure of the model now) for about 9 years now and have no complaints. We've put lots of revolutions on that puppy, though until I started MFP my weight was not greatly affected by its use.

  • Good equipment works with you, cheap equipment works against you. Go for a better quality device. The lower quality, "cheaper" elliptical will not feel balanced, will not move smoothly through its range of motion, will have parts that quickly loosen with wear and other parts that don't fit as they should. The ergonomics…
