That is beyond amazing to me. There is no WAY my dog would stand for that!

I get that. My dog Stella has a "boyfriend", Griffin, My neighbor's 95 lb black lab. They have been playing together since they were both puppies 3 years ago. it's so much fun to see them together, but always a relief when it's time for them to go home. They can really get into some *kitten*!

So sweet!

What is your heart rate at a conversational pace while running? low 130s What is your age? 46 What is your resting heart rate? Usually in the mid 50s What is your max heart rate? Around 180 What is your lactate threshold heart rate? Estimated around 160

that looks so good right now!

I agree with this. You muscles have adapted to the activity so they require less oxygen and your heart does not have to work as hard. What are your goals with regard to exercise? What are you trying to achieve? Striving to reach a maximum heart rate on every workout does not really make sense as a fitness goal, IMO.

@htimpaired - Great goals. I also would like to read more. I love reading as well, yet I do less and lees now that I have Netflix and social media at my disposal :/ @Orphia- Excellent!!! Yesterday's accomplishments seem pretty meager, but I am pleased with them because I know how things could have gone (per past…

Cracks me up when dogs snore! How cute!

I second hydration. I down a glass of room temperature water first thing in the morning and it really helps me come to life. I think people tend to underestimate the importance of proper hydration, especially in the winter when we tend to drink less, but the dry air zaps us of water nonetheless.

Yesterday I made it to the gym for the first time in ages. I rode the stationary bike for 36 minutes. I'd like to say I enjoyed it, but that would be a lie. I was trying to get a good workout in, but everyone around me was pedaling slowly with their eyes glued to their phones and it wasn't very motivating. I think I will…

I like this challenge! Over the past several years I have set and accomplished a lot of goals related to overall health and fitness. Sometimes I feel a little lost without a concrete "measurable" goal, but right now, this is where I am at. I want to manage all aspects of my life for complete well-rounded health and…

I find a lot of good recipes on Skinnytatse.com. Her recipes are not all GF, but many of them are or can easily be adapted to be GF. I have long ago quit trying to make things that are usually full of gluten taste good by making them GF. Instead, I stick to things that are naturally GF, such as rice, potato, cornmeal or…

These Brussel sprouts are delicious. Even people that think they don't like Brussel sprouts love them because they are shredded instead of whole. Sometimes I use bacon in place of the pancetta, or you can just use oil and garlic if vegan. https://www.skinnytaste.com/sauteed-brussels-sprouts-with-pancetta/

Lovely photo!

I love eating this too, but I don't usually cook the tomatoes...nice idea! I often add a splash of red wine vinegar or lime juice. The acid breaks down the avocado and egg yolks and makes it nice and creamy.

I'm not sure if it would be a satisfying sub for pumpkin pie, but I combine equal parts plain Greek yogurt and pumpkin pie filling, then add a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder and some pumpkin pie spice. I eat it with a few mini graham crackers for crunch. I have this for breakfast or a mid day snack sometimes.

Oh my goodness. Too much cuteness.

Yes, I believe this is what was happening. At the advice on @The_Enginerd, I am now using a tighter notch on my wrist strap and I have not experienced this since.

Thanks! We just re-did it this past spring, so i am looking forward to using it this winter!

This wild rice and mushrooms is a nice side dish with turkey, particularly of you have any gluten-free guests. The marsala wine is key, so don't substitute it. https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/wild-rice-mushrooms

My dog's not spoiled or anything... It's not even cold out. Hubby turns the fire on for her because that's the only time she lays in her bed.

For a first time marathoner, speed work isn't necessary, but if you feel like you want to do a faster run, I would limit it to once per week. And definitely not "sprinting", but maybe some fast intervals or a tempo run which is pushing yourself to a comfortably hard pace for several miles after a slow warm up. Here's the…

I ran the Marshall marathon this weekend. I was a bit disappointed in my performance, not because it was a horrible result, but because it was my first marathon where I just couldn't muster up the mental strength to execute it to plan. Lack of crowd support left me dragging in the final miles. Nonetheless, I did manage an…

I have to log it as soon as I eat it or I will eat way too much. Logging it puts it right there in black and white. Those little suckers add up fast. I am keeping my candy stash on the dining room table because we have that room gated off to keep the dog out. that means I can't just grab it as I pass by, it has to be a…

Awww!

Not to change the course of this thread, but I am curious why most people seem to use almond milk over cow's milk in their protein smoothies (even with whey protein). Does it blend better or taste better? I have never actually tried it, so I am curious.

Marshall University marathon. No pace goal, just hoping to have fun.
