Thai red curry with tofu and vegetables, served over Basmati rice.

The slow pace at which this thread has been moving lately makes me sad :'( I fully expect to see lots of photos of cute pups in their Halloween get ups tomorrow. Come on peeps, I need some puppy pics to brighten my day!!

@crazyrvar- That pancake looks and sounds AMAZING!

Sorry, I didn't get this from your previous posts. If this is truly your goal, then I would encourage you to have a look at a book called "80/20" running by Matt Fitzgerald. It explains why the best way to become a better endurance runner is to do 80% of your running at a slow, comfortable pace and push yourself into or…

You say that you have run most of your long runs at about a 12:10 pace, but that is only part of the equation. What other types of paces have you run? Speed work? Tempo runs? If you can run 12 miles comfortably at a 12ish pace, then logic would suggest that, with fresh legs from your taper and race day energy, you are…

This thread makes me want to cry. My father was a heavy smoker who literally could not quit to save his life. Our family helplessly watched him smoke while on oxygen, after several strokes, heart surgeries, emphysema/COPD, and a whole array of other health issues. He was finally able to quit smoking after a blockage in his…

Thank you @Orphia, @Elise4270 and all of the Monthly Challenge group for putting this together. I regret that I did not participate in the 24 tribute, as Dennis was an MFP friend of mine and a definite inspiration as well. I will be running my 7th marathon, Marshall University Marathon (Huntington, WV) in honor of Dennis…

It's interesting that these two very similar photos have such a different feel to them. The openness of the first one gives me a feeling of freedom and adventure while the second one feels much more desolate, yet I find it very captivating. I think I'm in the minority here in that I find the second one more intriguing in…

I find sidewalks to be more dangerous than roads, especially in the dark. Uneven cracks and low hanging limbs are a definite hazard. As long as you are wearing the proper reflective gear and running towards traffic, you should be fine running on the road.

I am a heavy supporter of the Garmin watches. The model you choose completely depends on the features you need and your budget. i don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

Then I would say you should be good to go with that plan! Sounds like you have a solid foundation of running so if you follow your training schedule, you should have nothing to worry about.

Hal Higdon plans are great for a first marathon. I am not sure how much difference there is between the novice 1 and 2 plans. My suggestion would be to choose the plan that offers you the most weekly mileage that you think you can handle without getting hurt. I know this is vague advice, but the there is a fine line…

Delicious looking as usual, and I love your plates!

I like spiralized zucchini in place of pasta, but only if I have a hearty sauce with lots of meat. Otherwise, it feels like I am eating nothing, which is basically true, as there aren't a whole lot of calories in zucchini and tomato sauce. Depending on what I am eating it with, sometimes I will make a potion of pasta and…

I have chicken and wild rice soup cooking in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Going to make grilled roast beef and cheddar sandwiches to go with it.

Skinnytatste.com (https://www.skinnytaste.com/skinnytaste-meal-plan-october-22-october-28/) has weekly meal plans along with recipes. No need to follow them to a tee, but they might offer some helpful suggestions. I think crock pot meals are a great place to start. Do your grocery shopping and basic prep like cutting and…

last night I was scrounging around for something to eat without going to the store. I had a package of these chicken sausages from costco. I sauteed some onions, red bell pper and mushrooms with some seasoning, cut up two chicken sausages and topped it with a bit of shredded mozzarella cheese. it was delicious and filling…

In the tapering stages of training for my 7th marathon, Marshall University Marathon, on November 4th. I have been feeling pretty "meh" about this one, so I am looking forward to taking it easy for the remainder of the year. Heading out for a 10 day Hawaiian cruise on November 10th, so that should be a pretty good way to…

I use the basic mix of spices mentioned here: cumin, ancho chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, etc. I also add about 2 tbsp of tomato paste or a half cup of tomato sauce per lb of beef. I don't know that there is anything particularly special about my tacos, but my husband likes them. I think the quality of the…

Fantastic job! Blows my mind...

I am relieved to hear that you have seen something similar with the same model. i have tried to wear my chest strap, but I have not been able to get it to duplicate when I was wearing it. I never thought about trying to take it manually, but I will try. the biggest problem I see with that is that it will drop dramatically…

That looks like heaven!

I know! My dog would never tolerate this :'(

Handsome pup!

That's a great idea. I may see how I do with varying my pace throughout the course of the race.

Good post. I feel like, at least at the moment, I am the opposite. I know that I have the self-discipline. Even though I am struggling with motivation at the moment, I know that I am going to get it done because I have taught myself to be pretty disciplined over the years. However, I feel like sometimes the burden of being…

Lol. Aren't they all???

I love it too. I add whatever veggies I can and I season with smoked Spanish paprika. I am gluten free, so I eat mine over some white beans (idea courtesy of a previous MFP post), but I usually buy a nice loaf of crusty bread for my husband.

This first. But also, if you are not used to running or were "hardly moving", sprinting may not be the best thing for you to do right now. Trying to do too much too soon is sure to lead you to injury. Take it slow, do walk/run intervals, and work your way up from there. A lot of beginning runners have success with the C25K…
