  • Absolutely! But I have a couple of tips that I use each week. I try to keep under my caloric goal by 1-300 calories a couple of days during the week (2-3 no more= roughly 200-600 calories under weekly) and then relax a little more on the weekends. I also extend my exercise to another 2-300 calories burned on the weekend…
  • My September goal is to lose 5 lbs. at minimum and to make better choices while eating out. Also, I want to make sure I'm staying under my weekly calorie allotment because daily gets so wishy washy with a little one and a full-time Corporate-level job (lunches, etc.). GO US! We can do it!
  • I'm with you there. Took almost 20 lbs for people to start really noticing.
  • I'm in! My overall goal is to lose about 25 lbs, but not necessarily in 3 months. In 3 months I'd like to be down 15 lbs and no longer be considered "overweight" (that would be into the normal BMI for me). My September goal is at least 5 lbs, more would be better, run a minimum of 50 miles this month plus complete the 100…
  • Oh I get the husband go me rah rah issue. When I was training to be a police officer (never did, just trained for it for a while), I'd do 4-5 mile runs all the time and my husband would go with me occasionally. He would literally RUN CIRCLES AROUND ME because he was so much faster at running. Had that conversation with him…
  • 9 weeks seems like a long time to check. I was diagnosed 10 years ago this month at a whopping 19 years old. My TSH was 16.0, and boy do I get what you mean by the jitters. Now, here's the hard part: the jitters come back when your meds are off. No joke. The sucky part about being on thyroid meds is that since hormones…
  • Super jealous of everyone that's running in the 100+ miles this month. I've got another 3 miles scheduled for tomorrow at at least one 4 mile run scheduled for this weekend. Looks like I need to up my goal!
  • I'm super late on this but I'd love to join!!! I hope that ticker works. My goal is 50 miles/month and I'm at 33.05!
  • If you're calculating it online, it is just an estimate. A generalization for all people who are your age, your height and your weight. For example, my BMR shows something like 1800. I got it professionally tested (hydro test) and it's actually 1960. Yours could actually be much higher.
  • Best advice I got was to trick MFP into thinking you weigh your goal weight and then tell it to maintain. So, if you were me, I'd say I weigh 120 lbs. and that I'm maintaining that weight. Your body will lose weight until you weigh 120 lbs. and are maintaining. SHBoss said it once. It was true. Lost 20 lbs. in 9 months on…
  • I think both a stretch before physical exertion and a stretch or cool-down period after is optimal.
  • 50-75g seems like a lot to me. Awesome that it worked, though. Congrats! I'm usually around 30-50g/day and belly is still there lol.
  • Sure wish I had that happen. LOL. I could not eat sugar for weeks and not get that feeling when I eat it again. My body LOVES sugar lol. Congrats!
  • I'd log it all. Treading water is definitely exercise. The SEALs do it for hours for strength & endurance.
  • Dried fruit isn't bad for you unless you were going to eat a bag every single day. If you were going to choose between dried fruit and skittles - clearly fruit would be the better option. That, to me, is really the point of dried fruit - something sweet to snack on when you're craving something sweet. It does in fact carry…
  • FYI Cheesecake Factory Lunch Portion Cobb Salad is around 590 calories, BUT I'd be impressed if you could eat it all. Maybe at my absolute hungriest state ever I could. So, there ya go, lunch for around 280 cals. Also, if you order the dressing on the side and don't let them put it on, it saves you even more calories. I…
  • I take my lunch to work every day. Usually it has fresh fruit (banana, apple, clementines, oranges or a combo of those). Carrot sticks/celery sticks Yogurt Dried fruit/nuts (cherries, apricots and walnuts) Tuna in a pouch with Orowheat multi-grain sandwich thins string cheese and if I'm feeling like I need a dessert that…
  • Be careful on the iron. Protein isn't a big deal as long as you stay under around 2g per lb. of body weight. You don't need any more than that. You can OD on iron and it will make you sick. For example, I get a lot of iron (around 250/day) and can be just fine, but if I add a multivitamin into the mix, it makes me so ill…
  • way off probably for most people. MFP has me at 1400. Body comp test has me at 1925.
  • it's probably fine, just like most noodle soups, but has tons of sodium so watch that.
  • It just means Im "bumping " it to the top of the topics list so that it's easier to follow and doesn't get lost in the rest of the posts. Plus if I post "bump" or anything at all, it gets placed in My Topics and I can find it even more easily later on.

  • Ah, Linda. Pain with the bar LOL. I think the last time we did that WOD was in the summer. I, too, struggle around 100# for my 1RM Bench press. Haven't had the spotter to try and go heavier yet. Did the Barbell Beast with 105# last week. Last night we did 50' OH walking lunge and 21 burpees - 5 rounds for time. Took me 15.…
  • Yes. Report the post. If they aren't being helpful or even remotely constructive in their criticism, they're not helping anyone. A lot of times people will post what they think needs to be said due to their own insecurities about their workout, eating, etc. Don't let it get to you. Report the post and move on. They aren't…
  • oo that sounds like a good one! Have you ever done the 400m walking lunge? PAIN! It's roughly 320 lunges (depending on how tall you are). Our Challenge for the month is a mile walking lunge. I tried and got to about a half mile (granted I did this on an off-day at work in jeans and a tank) and called it quits. My knees…
  • Do they list the nutritional info for the batter without oil, eggs, etc.? If so, just input that and then add a cherry coke zero.
  • Me and yes I've still seen a loss. My advice would be to "cheat" by eating what you want, but still try to stay in your calorie limit. For example, during the week I eat mostly clean. Very few simple carbs if any at all, lots of fruits and veggies, lots of lean meat, etc. During the weekend, I'll go out to eat and have a…
  • I have issues getting up that high as well (protein-wise) without going over on carbs, but going over on carbs doesn't seem to be hindering my diet at all. I just focus on not having simple carbs later in the day because my body doesn't digest them well and even complex carbs very few if any at all for dinner again because…
  • I second both the sugar-free pudding and the gum. I always crave sweets in the afternoon and those are my two go-to treats. Always curb that craving for me.
  • Thanksgiving weekend, I'd gained 11 lbs. in 2 days. Luckily 3 days after that, it all came back off again. Unfortunately, after Christmas, I'd gained more than just sodium LOL. If it is just water weight, you should see it all gone within a week or two (at most).
