  • I have to politely disagree. I follow a plant-based diet and I am in perfect health according to my doctor and recent bloodwork (just done w/in the last week!) Veganism is a lifestyle, not just a diet. I say plant-based diet because I do have leather shoes, belts, etc. My dogs eat dog food made from meat and so on.

  • I will sometimes make my own cheese-less veggie pizza as well. Last night we were in a time crunch and I just didn't have a chance to.
  • Yuengling is the correct answer.
  • Yeah, cheese is good. I miss cheese...especially on nights like tonight when my family is eating mushroom & cheese pizza from my very favorite pizza shop. And I am eating couscous and Asian veggies. <sigh> I know if I ate some though I'd get a horrid headache and stomach cramps. Then I'd think about how cheese is made and…
  • I work full-time and have 3 school age children who are all involved in at least 2 sports each as well, so I am very busy! Yes, I schedule exercise daily. In fact, I plan out what type of exercise and time of day for exercise probably at least a week in advance, usually for the entire month. I feel that if I did not do…
  • There's a vegan board on the forums: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/46-team-vegan

  • It's called Banana Soft Serve. I just made PB & J popsicles using banana soft serve. Google it and I'm sure you will find a ton of recipes! Put frozen bananas in a food processor with some almond milk & blend it up! Add any flavor you want. Viola! Veg*n ice cream.
  • I made Cheezy Herb Kale Chips today! Here's my recipe: 2.5 cups kale, washed & dried (I ripped it off the stem and then tore into pieces) Spread kale on baking sheet Whisk together: 2 tbsp. EVOO 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp. nutritional yeast 1 tbsp. water 1 tsp. parsley flakes 1/2 tsp. dill weed, dried 1/2 tsp.…

  • One of the rules is you HAVE to eat meat? WTF? How can someone make you eat meat? That's just wrong.
  • Here's the link to the vegan board: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/63-team-vegan And the vegetarian board: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/62-happy-herbivores
  • Yes I usually cook the dough for a few minutes in the oven then take it out and add sauce/pesto & veggies then cook it again!
  • Hmm, haven't noticed but sounds like an excellent side effect! I'd love your homemade deodorant "recipe" please! I have noticed that I used to sweat a LOT and had to use clinical strength deodorant and all my shirts were ruined by sweat, not true so much lately...
  • ^^This exactly.
  • I try to eat both clean AND vegan, is it possible? Sure. Is it hard? Absolutely. I have slip ups, especially the week after TOM. Engine 2 Diet is a great resource as well as Happy Herbivore.
  • My husband and I are both running in the zombie race in Pittsburgh on Labor Day weekend! :drinker:
  • YES! I've been eating a plant-based diet since May of this year. I've had cheese a few times since then (couldn't resist pizza or ice cream), each time same result. The salad I ate for lunch yesterday was pre-made and had Parmesan cheese mixed in. My stomach gurgled and felt unsettled for hours. It also gives me a terrible…
  • I had an initial goal of losing 15 lbs. It took me about 4 weeks after I began to "eat clean" and exercise to see the scale move, and then it was ONE pound! Be patient. As others have said, use the recipe button. Cut out the processed convenience food meals and ice cream! Eat more fruits, veggies and drink only water! But…
  • ^^This. I ride about 3x per week due to training for a couple of triathlons. I also run 3x per week and swim 3x per week. If I wasn't in training, I would definitely ride my bike more often.
  • My husband is similar to you, he is also 6'2" with a 30" inseam. He extends the stem as cohophysh suggested and has no issues with his "boys".
  • THANK YOU, THANK YOU fleaglebeagle! Not a bore at all, very valuable information! My swim coach is constantly telling me to kick faster and harder, so that may be why my legs are tiring so quickly. I've been watching Terry Laughlin swim and he seems to have more of a 2 beat kick like you're describing. The breathing is…
  • fleaglebeagle: I am doing front crawl, no wetsuit in the pool, yes to wearing goggles and yes I put my face in the water between breaths. 3boysz2keep: I try to get in the pool 3 times per week, but sometimes I run out of time! I could double up and combine bike/run or bike/swim or swim/run to get 3 days of each in per…
  • This may be more than you asked for, but I am in love with the PPK forums, so here you go! http://forum.theppk.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19615 It's a link to The Huge Index of Vegan Cookbook Threads
  • You're welcome! (I love that site  )
  • Americans consume way more protein than they really need anyways. The average person only needs 1-2 grams per pound of body weight, or about 15% of daily calories. Protein is also found other places besides in animal products! Funny, this was posted today! http://www.nomeatathlete.com/where-vegetarians-get-protein/
  • Sunday night dinner: Marinated portabello mushrooms on the grill with roasted baby yukon gold potatoes and roasted asparagus.
  • Hmm...not really sure what to tell you. There's definitely a learning curve with clip-in pedals. I had mine set pretty loose when I first got them so I could clip out easier, but I will admit I still has a few "clipless moments" and did not get my shoe out in time and fell over. I have Pearl Izumi SPD MTB shoes.
  • Blackstrap molasses is a good iron source as well.
