For me it's kind of the opposite: I'm hoping I will continue to lose as things open and I start going out more. I live in what was one of the original Covid "hot spots" and so lock-down came early, hard and fast. And being "morbidly obese" (at the time :) ) put me at greater risk, so I pretty much stopped going anywhere…

Slightly off topic, but isn't "reduced fat bacon" just...ham?

I think this is brilliant. I am going to write this one down.

To update a famous line by Marilyn Monroe: nothing on but the television. I move around a lot in my sleep and can't stand when clothes get all twisted or wrapped around me.

I'd be wary of trying to make too many changes all at once. It sounds like you have the exercise piece down. Maybe just start by tracking both food and exercise with 100% honesty? Don't necessarily make any changes to what you eat. Keep your food diary to yourself if you want. But you will see just what an impact your…

Hello! I started earlier this spring with 130# to lose. :# Now with 36# gone, I'm just under 100# to go. Which is where I started from last time I was on MFP, about 5 years ago, and only got halfway there before things fell apart.... So yeah, I'm in. Hopefully to make it stick this time. :p

The following has been my go-to for the past couple weeks, not tired of it yet! 1 Tuna Creations pouch, lemon pepper (80) or spicy thai chili (90) 4 Carrs Table Water crackers (56) or 2 Rye Krisp crackers (50) 1 medium tomato, sliced (25) 1/2 medium cucumber, sliced (17) 1 slice vidalia onion (9) sprinkled liberally with…

I got Back On Track this week, and [shock!] it worked! ;) Down 4.2 pounds from last week, which shows that my small loss the previous week (0.8 pounds) was due to my 1+ day off plan over the weekend and not permanent damage. Total/average loss for 2 weeks: 5/2.5 pounds, which makes sense. Lesson Learned: Don't let one bad…

Just stopping by here to say Good Job! and keep it going, even if you are the only one logging in this thread. :)

THIS. If you actually eat what was once the normal size of items, it can work within most CICO plans. No more super, whopper, BIG/Biggie, etc. From McDonalds website: Hamburger. Cheeseburger. McDouble. (250/300/400 calories) You can ditch 1/2 the bun for 75 cal savings. Small Fries. (220 calories) UNsweetened iced tea or…

One thing I forgot in my way-too-long-and-personal post, above: My doc also put me on high doses of Vit D for 8 weeks, with instructions to continue with a regular multi-vitamin going forward. So that might be part of the winning mix, too. Whatever, it's working, and I'm going with it!

OK, I'm probably going to get a bit lengthy here, starting with the usual caveats: this is just my story and what's worked for me, IANAD, etc., etc. But I think I've been where you are, so I'm going to share my story in the hope that it might help. FIRST: I'm sitting here totally stuffed because I just ate a MONSTER bowl…

I committed to memory the response in a Dear Abby (or Ann Landers?) column I read years ago: When people ask waaaay too personal questions, turn it back on them and say "Why do you ask?" It puts the focus back on them, maybe makes them think about what they've said, can seem totally innocent (with the right tone), and you…

"starve your distractions" I like this. Well done!

When tomatoes are ripe/local and in best form, I love them on their own. Yesterday I just sliced one and sprinkled "everything bagel topping" (available from TJs or Aldi or a bunch of other places now) on top and it was [chef's kiss]! Today I'm out of tomatoes so am doing the same with a cucumber. Maybe tomorrow I'll live…

(raises hand) I was diagnosed asVit D deficient also. Too much time inside in front of screens (work). Dr. prescribed megadoses (pills) once a week for 8 weeks, then told me to just make sure I take a multivitamin with a healthy dose of D in it. Seems to be working. (It helps that OTC vitamins are now "FSA-eligible" so no…

OK, now I want this recipe. :)

I always want to do this - give a thumbs-up to large people I see pushing themselves to exercise - being a large person myself now and knowing how welcome this would feel. I never have, thinking it might be thought of as too intrusive. But I'm glad you do/have, and have gotten a positive response. I think I'm going to try…

Hmmmm. Food for thought, as they say. I used the BMR calculator in the MFP "APPS" section. Hadn't thought about the difference between BMR and TDEE, although my day is usually sitting at my computer 10-12 hours for work, so they probably are pretty close to the same. :p I have been taking the dog for longer and longer…

Well, I was down to 246 yesterday for the 3rd day in a row, and today back up to 246.7. So I was going to log in with yesterday's weight, but I've committed to honestly, so 246.7 it is.... This week was the first week in the 3 months that I've been working to lose that I ran into trouble. My niece graduated from high…

Looks good on you!!! I bet your body thanks you, too. Well done! And congrats on your hard work - and results!

I just go with it and don't eat anything else that day. I don't force myself to eat more just to meet minimum calories. I know we get the "warning" from MFP when we close out the day if our calories are too low. IANAD, but I don't think one day here or there is a problem. (I also know there are days when my body won't shut…

And I just saw your other thread about your new (smaller) wardrobe. That's a great success. So when you feel burnt out, remember that, and credit yourself for how you achieved it. (I know you know this, just giving you a reminder.)

I think we can accept that we're each going to have these days. It's a normal part of the process, it's going to happen and it is NOT a failure, just a "bump" in the road. Tell yourself - either when it's happening or afterwards - "Oh crap, it's happening/happened. OK, well, I knew that was going to happen eventually, time…

2nd (or 3rd) this. I'm a HUGE Aldi fan. I started going there years ago for the European items (it's owned by a German company and they have great "fancy" european items at great prices, especially at the holidays), and I found myself buying more and more staples there as well. Their "house" brands are mostly very good.…

Welllllll, if you noticed, I said "not going to say YET" ;) And in the 2+ weeks since I posted that, I got more comfortable with it. So yes, we can do the math and figure out that my goal is 128# and at 32# I am 1/4 of the way there. Thanks for your encouragement. I'm sure you'll be really popular here. :D

Hi and welcome! I'm not a prolific poster. And this is my 2nd round with MFP. But I'm back because I've found when I use it, it works. Best of luck to you!
-
Yes you can! Yes you will!
-
Thanks MFP pals. :) As of today I'm 32 pounds down and that's 25% to GOAL!!!! I'm going to stay focused on how far I've come and not how far I have to go. B)
