Yep, that seems to be the consensus. So now I've got water weight gain, pain from the burn (bra and panty lines - ouch!) AND it's at the point in healing when it's started to itch. :p :s :D

BUMP! I came across this thread while searching on whether my gain this week could be from the wicked sunburn I got over the weekend. Sure enough, this and other research shows the resulting inflamation can cause temporary weight (fluid retention) gain. So I thought I'd bump this thread for others to see, in case you could…

And now for July.... Age 59 Height 5'6.5" SW: 278 (March 2021) CW: 239.9 (38# GONE!) This is a bit of a tangent, but I just want to reinforce this last bit. There is actual research that shows being outdoors in nature, and in particular the color green, has a positive impact on our mental and physical health! Source: https://www.apa.org/monitor/apr01/greengood

The first two of these aren't necessarily good "diet" snacks, but I use them as healthier substitutes and they can fit into a calorie-counting diet as long as you don't go crazy with quantity. The third is just a straight-up treat. :) 1. Flax Seed "tortilla" chips: have about the same calories as regular tortilla chips,…

I've found that different ADs affect my appetite different ways. The one I'm on currently doesn't impact my appetite, but it seems to reduce my sugar/carb cravings. My theory is that it has to do with serotonin/brain chemistry, like if the AD is doing its thing, my brain/body doesn't crave crap to give me that sugar rush.…

@penguinmama87 & @AnnPT77 Thank you both so much for your replies. I'm always surprised that people spend time to give considered responses to perfect (or even imperfect!) strangers. To answer, I'm a 59 YO female, 5'6.5", started in March at 278#, currently bouncing around just under 240, so the MFP calorie calculations…

Good plan! I'm no expert, but I think it's perfectly fine to have a "break" day. I recently took a couple days "off" over 4th of July weekend, after about 3 months on plan, and it helped renew my enthusiasm for being back on plan this past week. Also, eating at that level seemed like a ridiculous amount of food, and…

Dont sweat it! Literally! :) You're doing fine. Not to say this is a license to go over every day ( :D ) but IME, going (a bit) over plan once in a while seems to make the weight come off more easily when I get back on plan. Might be physical, might be mental in that I find it easier to be on plan after a little "overage."…

Bacon. Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, Bacon (bits). Aldi Tuscan Harvest bacon bits. < $1.50/pouch (US). 2T = 60 calories and a LOT of flavor. To quote from another commercial: "I put that [bleep] on everything!" :D

This sounds like a good plan also. :) Basically I'm agreeing with you and @wunderkindking and supporting the one-change-at-a-time strategy. The path each person takes may be different. The key I think is making the first step something you (generic you) have confidence you can achieve to build a foundation for future…

This bill seems like a good *piece* of the solution. Recognizes that there are both mental and physical components to obesity. [Steps on soapbox...] But it strikes me that it's still just a piece, and doesn't address the fact that obesity is often a function or symptom of other issues. We should also address the fact that…

I can't address the off-leash dogs other than to say, sorry, that sucks. My JRT (on leash always, they're notorious bolters) was mauled by a Mastiff (off leash) a couple years ago and it was super traumatic for the both of us. For the pacing/pulling, I walk my dog with a long (20') extending leash when it's an exercise…

Eat, duh. Which is how I got to 278# and ended up at MFP. Key to my weight loss has been managing stress (or ignoring it). One thing I did do, however, throught the pandemic when things really started to get to me was take a "snuggle break" with my pupster: just curl up on the bed (WFH Woo hoo!) and set the timer for 7…

Applesauce (unsweetened) is good on pancakes instead of syrup or butter.

I'd just like to disagree with the bolded part above, if I may, or at least offer a counterpoint. As long as I stay on my AD, I haven't needed therapy. It's purely a brain chem thing with me, or so it seems. If I go off for even a couple days, I start feeling overwhelmed by the smallest set-backs or need to multi-task, and…

I agree that changing just one thing at a time can be a successful strategy. At least it's been working for me. I felt that trying to change too many things at once, while it might produce results in the short term, wasn't something I was likely to stick with long term. First I just started eating better (cleaner,…

Yeah, after 5 days of crazy itching and spreading rash and going commando so the elastic wouldn't aggravate it, despite calamine ALL OVER and oral benadryl and tylenol and rubbing alcohol and showers and everything else "Dr. Google" suggested, I broke down and called my brother (an actual MD) to call in an Rx for a steroid…

Can't believe it's July, but happy to be here and making progress. My goal for June was to get under 240. Yesterday (6/30) I was at 241.3, but this morning I'm at 239.9!!!!! o:) So I'm going to take that as making GOAL! And now for July.... Age 59 Height 5'6.5" SW: 278 (March 2021) CW: 239.9 (38# GONE!) GW for July: Below…

OK, I waited an extra day to check in to make it to the last day of the month. Here we go: Age 59 Height 5'6.5" SW: 278 (March 2021) CW: 247.5 (30# GONE!) GW for June: Below 240 FGW: 150 6/1: 247.5 lbs 6/8: 246.7 lbs (-0.8) 6/15: 242.5 lbs (-4.2!) 6/22: 243.5 lbs (+1.0) :( 6/30: 241.3 (-2.2) Total month loss: 6.2 pounds…

Can I ask which settings you used? a preset profile? manual @ what speed? etc. This is a great imspiration and I may try it. Thanks.

HI, I'm shooting for 1200/day and my diary is visible to "friends" so I just sent you a Friend Request. Although don't go by today :# - I decided to allow myself a blowout day after 3 months of good discipline.

IMO, you're doing it right: Naked on a towel, or wrapped in a towel. Barefoot or shower shoes (left on the floor) only. Street shoes and/or street clothes in a sauna are GROSS! I've never been to or heard of a place that allows that in their sauna. Sounds like they need to put up a sign or something about what to wear (or…

Hello, I'm 5' 6.5" (that .5 is important to me! I used to be 5'7" :) ) and weighed in this morning at 240.5#, after starting in March at 278#. So that's almost 40# in <4 months. I've got about another 90# to go, so, similar to you. I'm a little older though, in my 50s. But I hope teaming up with some younger women will…

Well, I was going to say a vegetable omelette (2 eggs + 1 egg white) made with Pam and a salad, but maybe you've had enough eggs for one day. :D So I'd say SOUP! plus drink lots of lo-cal, unsweetened liquids.

Well, whaddaya know - the science works! ;) This morning, I'm at 241.4, so 1.1# down from a week + 1 day ago, now that a couple days have passed from my weekend "splurges." Just as the formula would predict! @Spotteddingo - thanks for noticing! MFP has been a great help in keeping this going. I know it will slow as things…

I'm not much of a from-scratch cook, because it just doesn't seem worth the effort for a single person. But I do "pump up the veg" for many of my meals by keeping bags of frozen vegetables and adding them to lots of things. Broccoli, green beans, mixed peppers, asparagus, etc. For example, last night I made one of those…

Well, not a great week. Friday, Saturday, Sunday were kind of blow-outs. Happy hour, travel, family gatherings, moment of weakness in the supermarket resulting in being UP 1# on the scale. Need to work on better strategies. Although I did complete my food diary religiously. And was above weekly goal by only about 3500…

YES! Good one! I also like that you can get apple slices instead of fries in many cases.
