Every 15lb lost I'll reward myself. The next one coming up is a new (to me) sundress, and I have my eye on the one I want!

Let me cosign the recommendation to find an endocrinologist who will treat your symptoms, not just your condition. My endocrinologist keeps a very tight grip on my bloodwork, and as I lose weight she is only decreasing my meds slightly, not the whole way, to help me keep losing weight. I was classified as Obese Class 2,…

If you can moderate your intake such that you do not go over your calorie goals, which you say you are not going over, eat the frozen pizza! Moderation seems to be working for you, keep at it! You're not setting yourself up for failure-don't listen to those people. Weight loss is all about finding what is sustainable for…

Let me +1 ground chicken, I think it tastes good. But between beef and pork I prefer beef. I don't really like pork all that much! You are missing an ingredient-always put in Parmesan cheese!! Did you try baking the meatballs halfway to done in the oven and then simmering in tomato sauce? I find that the tomato and herbs…

So much yes to this. I treated myself to a book I'd been wanting to read for the first 15lbs. When I get to the next 15lb I will treat myself to a new sundress. I agree that the treat should not be food related or MFP related. For me that would feed into the unhealthy relationship I have with food instead of working to…

I have an UP24 by Jawbone, I like it well enough but I have found it grossly underestimates my caloric needs for the day. MFP set me at 1660 to lose a pound a week and jawbone would tell me I should only eat 1200 for the day. I now use it only for motivation when I have been sitting too long and to gauge how active I have…

I'm sure you could get one of those delicious salads and have a frosty dressing on it... I'm kidding, I'm stealing jokes from the late John Pinette, who joked about pouring Haagen das over his salads so it looked like ranch!

Alllll the frostys, and get the French fries so you can dip in the frosty. Mmmmm...

Think it was an accidental duplicate, they have the same time stamp ;)

I would go with this answer. The way your post reads, you are not looking to lose more weight, correct? I also don't think your body is struggling but if you are trying to stay in the same weight range (maintain) but lose fat which it sounds like you are, I would try a heavy lifting plan. Something like stronglifts 5x5…

Your body thinks you're trying to kill it? The weight comes off quickly after 2 months? Don't cheat on your diet ever? One hour of cardio before your first meal? Good results only come from exercising hard? This post is full of so much wtf.

You are seeing results-you've lost 14lb! Keep at it and you will continue to see changes.

He actually said in his OP that she was supporting him. She's resisting his pressure for her to change her own life, not his. She actually is contributing to his plan by grocery shopping for him. She's an adult. She can make the decision to eat fast food; that is her prerogative. OP is trying to push her in a direction she…

You can also get a basal body thermometer and track your cycles that way. I believe it is the most accurate at-home way of pinpointing ovulation and cycle tracking.

OP if you end up brewing your own, I like to put coffee in ice cube trays and use that for iced coffee instead of ice. I can't ever get a brew just right to withstand ice!

Sorry you're broken. =)

Yes :) I'm so glad I found these forums, or else I'd still be living in the "carbs and sugar are EVIL and you should NEVER eat them" camp. That camp sucked.

I chose my goal weight based on a weight I was happy at in the past. I'm 5'6" and with quite a bit of muscle I was happy at 160. I have my goal set to 140 here because I think I would like to lower my bf% past what it was in the past but I have no idea what that would look like. I will absolutely reevaluate if I get to 160…

*chuckling at keyboard* @ "make noncommittal noises. It's so true. People like that don't want to be educated about weight loss, or anything. They just want to hear themselves talk. Best not to engage, OP.

I am pretty sure that the capsaicin in spicy food raises the body temperature, not metabolism, right? Am I reading this study right? I was reading points 3 (Results) and 4 (Discussion). Somebody halp. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3022968/

TBH the tape measure has been much nicer to me than the scale. When I go awhile with no loss, the tape measure makes me feel better!
-
To the bolded, I thought you have to be in a caloric surplus to gain muscle? Am I wrong? I started in February too =) I totally agree- this is a long term project!
-
For me it was when the scale slowed down to what I had set my goal at, which is 1 pound a week. I had lost something like 6 or 8 pounds in the first week, and once that stopped and I would see a 1 pound loss per week (on average), I knew I was losing fat instead of water.

Just another +1 to Amy's, I basically lived on the pizza pockets in college

I roast or saute allll my veggies, whoever said above olive oil+veg+salt+oven is sooo right. I overdo it on dips when I eat raw veggies so I plan it into my day. Love me Marie's ranch dip and carrots (the carrots are actually a vehicle for the ranch).

It was very interesting, and I intend to go back and watch the video again, but she lost me when she started on midol. Bloating and cramps (midols main marketing) are not cultural constructs. I really did not understand that bit, unless there are other midol ads that I am not seeing. She sounded a whole lot like the…

Unfortunately not everyone loses weight while breastfeeding. I gained 26lb by the time I weaned my son at 6months old. The kicker was to maintain my supply I had to eat at a surplus. Focus on your supply now-you can lose the weight later. Your window for breastfeeding is so short, take advantage of it!

Yes I do :( I don't record my weight when my period is coming. I know it is water retention, so when I see the scale start going up and I know it's that time of month, I don't step on again until the day after my period ends. I usually get a "whoosh" that I like to see. As far as eating, I eat at maintenance for the first…

Of course they have a plan for weight maintenance and performance line. How else would they keep making money? You don't need to keep buying into their program. The "maintenance pack" used to be $130 a month. No thanks. My total protein supplement for the month costs me $40 and tastes like a milkshake. And it is about…

Are you actually looking to lose weight? It doesn't sound like you are, it sounds like you are trying to teach your brain portion control after the semester abroad? If so, figure out what your maintenance calories are here on MFP, and start weighing your food to see what kinds of portions you are eating right now l.…
