For my first paleo breakfast, I had a 5 egg white omelet, 2 slices Coleman uncured bacon, and a banana. About an hour later, I was starving!

After standing in the bacon section of Weis for an embarassing long time, I found Coleman Natural Bacon. It was 6.99 for 6 servings. It has no nitrates or nitrites, antibiotic free, and vegetarian fed. It does contain brown sugar and lactic acid. This was the best one I could find. There's just no way I can fork out $80 at…

I'd like to lose about 10-15 lbs, but don't have to do it in a month......More importantly, I'm doing this just to get rid of all the nasty chemicals and hopefully stave off the arthritis, heart problems, and diabetes that run in my family. I'm also looking forward to the extra energy I will hopefully gain!

Personally, I order the pork belly (or side pork) from the butcher. These are the cuts that bacon comes from. Although you have to order 10-15 lbs, the price per pound is a lot lower than processed bacon. I have them slice it, then I divvy it up into half-pound portions, baggie it and freeze it. When I cook it, I hit it…

Thank you, MonkeyDharma! I am easing into this VERY slowly. So slowly that my only change for this week is to follow WW and eliminate any nonsense snacking. No nibbling on chips, cake, ice cream, etc...just because it is here. I am only allowing it as a special treat. Ex: going out for an ice cream cone with family,…

I agree with this completely. Even if I wanted to go full force into this, like I said, I couldn't afford it by a long shot! Even if I eat all regular grocery store items, but stay away from all of the processed foods and grains (except for the sausage and bacon), I figure I'm still WAY better than I was. I'm sure there…

Is there a website with a COMPLETE list of what you can and can't eat on paleo?
-
Thank you...that post was extremely helpful. Can you eat any old sausage for breakfast as well? Turkey, regular? I thought foods with nitrates were a no-no? Also, are you allowed vinegar?

I broke down and bought an affordable, but highly rated HRM. It is the New Balance N4. I was burning more calories than I thought, so I'm glad I bought it! Thanks, everyone!

It's really hard to get an accurate measure while trying to reenact it on the treadmill
-
Unfortunately, I can't really afford a heart monitor right now. Boy, 2.84mph doesn't seem right. I walk much quicker than that! Grr..

Ok, I feel like an idiot here! Heel to heel, my stride is around 20 inches. I times that by 150 and get 3000. That times 60 is 180000. If I divide that by 12, I get 15000.. What do I do with that?

Nope...it's an old treadmill and the computer broke! I'm guessing just measure from back of one foot to front of other? Thanks!
-
So it doesn't really do much more than a pedometer then? I could have sworn I heard of something that was able to track how many calories you were burning even at rest through body heat and heart rate?

Wow! SO many responses so quickly! The reason I'm going for Monday is because we're going on vacation this weekend.

Thanks, guys!

Ok....according to all of the research I've done, in order to maintain at a sedentary level, I could eat 1620. I am going to try to cut that to 1500 and exercise as usual. I'm hoping that will give me a 1-2 lb loss a month which I will be thrilled with!. I am going to eat and exercise as normal for one week, just out of…

I just started on here, and it is telling me to use 1320 for my max calories. I'm looking to lose about 1/2 lb a week until I hit my goal loss of 13 lbs. This is WAY less than I've been eating, and I'm very hungry. Are you saying before I cut my calories that much, I should continue eating and exercising as I was before,…
