Last summer after having seen what I thought were a pair of coyotes I had two, full grown, German Shepherds run up behind me as I was working in front of my garage. After I quelled my pounding heart I reached out, petted one, and took a look at his collar tag. Got them both up on my deck and closed the gates, called the…

I use my fitbit solely as a step counter and refuse to link it to MFP. Haven't seen it counting steps for driving but it malfunctions if I wear it on the motorcycle. If it is logging into your exercise diary you should see a corresponding increase in your daily allowed calories.....

Run. 3 - 4 times a week; various miles. Because I actually love it after I get past the first couple of warm up miles. Because I can burn way more calories running than walking over the same period of time. Because my 85 lb. German Shepherd running companion loves it. I have done C25K several times. Based on your post you…

I would agree that this is highly debatable. Either Runner's World or Running Times just ran a comparative article on a lot of the popular wrist worn HRMs. Your choice will very much depend on what you want to get out of it. I have looked at a lot of the reviews on the wrist HRMs and almost all of them have draw backs…

$54/month for 2 adults; basic gym; no sauna, pool, steam room or hot tub; open 24/7 and within 4 miles of home so very convenient.

All of the varieties of rice that I have currently (6) have serving sizes in cups, not by weight. Measuring by poritions of a cup for rice is much easier than weighing in my opinion.....

Based on that I would start only getting boxed wine. Then keep the calories within your allowance and enjoy!

Congrats on finishing C25K! If you like the app and the approach there is a C210K app that you can follow it up with that will definitely get you running longer distances. Might be the way you have your weekly schedule configured that is giving you some issues. Sluggish, heavy legs, or sore muscles from lifting is…

1+ cup spinage or kale or some other green leaf; 1 scoop vanilla protien powder; 1 banana; 1/2 cup blueberries or strawberries; 16 oz 1% milk. That is my go to smoothie....

I smoked for 40 years, at times quite heavily. I tried gum, patches, and took Chantix for several years because I liked the dreams. One very cold January morning, home sick from work, out on my front porch I lit a smoke took a couple of drags, looked at it and asked myself just what the hell I was doing... Haven't touched…

I have never seen a case of constipation that couldn't be cured by drinking 8 ounces of so of prune juice. If you want to go this will almost positivly get you there. Then you need to get back on a healthy diet including plenty of fiber and water. If this doesn't work I would find a way to see a doctor.......

I'd go for it based on what you wrote. Just go easy and don't stress yourself. This is a beautiful time of year for running or walking so I would go and enjoy myself. I think your friend is the one that is going to have problems if her longest run has only been 3 miles. Hoefully she is in greate shape from the cross fit…

I began running about 4 months into my lifestyle change with visions of high school cross country running through my head….turns out I couldn't even run a 1/4 mile (and that was excruciatingly painful). C25K and C210K and a few races and then running with my dog pre-dawn and now I run 5 - 8 miles on a regular basis. I lift…

My spouse joined me all the way in this journey. Gave up almost 100% of packaged foods, experimented with new and different veggies and has now even become a gym rat (just showed me that she has some "guns" for the first time in her life). She was never really over weight but I was and with her support we are now both in…

I modified SL 5x5 into a circuit training routine by adding two sets of different lifts in between each of the 5x5 sets. Continual motion and 10th rep is just about (if not) at failure on the added sets.

"wait until someone hits you in the face with their sweat...." OP - I've been going to the gym for years and have worked out next to some mighty sweaty, smelly individuals....and yet I have NEVER been hit anywhere by someone elses sweat....come on, you have to be joking, right. And if I were "sweat bombed" I would move to…
-
OP - how exactly does one "contain" their sweat??? Most rediculous thing I have heard on here in ages......
-
What is the purpose of being in the gym if you are NOT sweating? So I run on the TM and sweat drips all over it after a couple of miles.... How does one stop their workout to wipe up sweat so it doesn't hit the machine or floor? Wipe down the machine when you are done and that is that.... I fail to see the problem here.....

If you re using a phone to track I got into Nike+running for free and found it to be very accurate (now i am using it and a Garmin 220 - shows what time running does to a tracking nerd - :)
-
I am using the Garmin 220 and my iPhone with Nike+running (on my shoulder - not wrist as that would really be the pits). The 220 is within your price range (and you can even add the HRM strap if you like). I highly recommend this watch - good outdoors and will track you indoors when you have to use the TM. I am really only…

C25K gives you definitive amounts of time for walking and running. Break it down and log the walking at X MPH and the running at X mph. You should be able to time yourself someway (watch, running app, etc.) so you know how fast your are walking (15 min/mile) and how fast you are running (14 min/mile). Don't be shocked if…

A nice soak in the hot tub does it for me......

That sounds about the same as how I workout in the gym; no breaks, constant sets using different muscle groups. I do not track this as strength training but rather as circuit training. I believe the calorie burn is a lot more accurate this way.

Mine are fairly tight around the fingers. I fully agree if you can grasp the bar and squeeze it you should be just fine.
-
I always log cooked weight. Grilling takes a lot out of most meats as the fat drips off and water evaporates.
-
Just be sure to weigh regularly (weekly, bi weekly, what ever works for you) and either go back to logging or make adjustments if you find you have the need. I stopped logging everyday some time ago but continue to log some days and I weigh myself every Friday morning. I still track exercise regularly as the calories…

You can definitely over exercise - this often leads to over use injuries. I doubt that 90 minutes a day on an elliptical will lead to this but then I didn't think running 8 miles every other day would either, it did. Be sure to take rest days or cross train some days - perhaps work in some weights.

Can't imagine a litre is just one serving but one never knows. The product information should tell you how many servings at 5 calories per serving.

Don't let a web site dictate how you feel about yourself! You were right to be proud of yesteday because you did a bang up job. I am sure we all get the "red" message now and again when we have a really low calorie day. For months and months when I started this journey my Wii Fit yeld at me "that's obese"!!!! I grant you…

Squats, squats and more squats. I started with SL 5x5 but have modified it more into a circuit training routine - non stop sets switching between muscle groups. I never wanted to do a squat before this (in fact cringed at the idea) but now swear by them. I also do some indoor rowing which works everything.....
