I am glad you asked this question, and I have another to add: which of the Fitbit/Jawbone-type monitors do people like better, and why?

I find the fluctuations help motivate me either way, so I do every other day.

I know how you feel. As a MFP, you've seen me gain & re-lose the same few pounds over the last month. It's never easy. We just have to get ourselves "back in to it" mentally. that's the only way it's gong to work. best to us both!

I did WW, and my experience was not positive, though I know many people love it. I think it depends on what you're looking for. The weekly meetings and weigh-ins do make you accountable, but if you're going to be accountable to yourself, I think MFP is just as effective. The group I joined was a lot of "long-timers" who…

I like it chilly with a nice sweatshirt & blanket to wear! I left all the windows open the other night, not realizing how cold it would be...it was 58F when I woke up! I don't turn it on until someone else complains. :o)

this! I am still at the low end of overweight per the BMI on my scale, but I don't care. I wore them when I was heavier, too. Shorts cover up most of your inner thigh, unless you're wearing DD's.

I find certain things belong on MFP and not FB.

keep a scale at work for just such situations

Of course!

In response to your topic line, I find I am enjoying food more because no matter what I'm eating (I'm not "clean" or "whole" foods only) I eat slowly and savor every bite. I appreciate what I'm eating, because I know there won't be the endless helpings that I used to have. I never thought it was true that slow eating made…

Hi Hannah! I'm Christine from the U.S. I am not quite halfway towards my goal of losing 60 pounds. There are a lot of nice people on here--good luck on your journey!

"no fruit after 2 pm because those calories are harder to process"??? Per WebMD: "The 17 Day Diet: What Dietitians Say: Experts give thumbs-up for the food choices, overall message of clean eating, avoiding unhealthy carbs, enjoying foods that you love, and regular exercise. But thumbs-down on the weight loss theory and…

Hi! I just found this board, and would love to be a part of it! Me: 45 yrs old Was: 195 Now: 165 Goal: 135-140, where I felt my best I have an 11 yr old daughter I am trying to teach healthy eating habits, after years of obviously not-so-great eating that got me where I am.

Funny! I am doing the same! I got one when I lost weight The First Time, and took it out when I re-gained. It is supposed to remind me to NEVER GAIN THIS BACK AGAIN!!! Good luck to us both!

I'm looking for more "friends" to add who actively uses the functions that come with the feature. To motivate, support, encourage and applaud the progress made but also expect just as much activity back. I'd be happy to be friends, if you like. We're the same height, and I was only 15 pounds less than you when I started.

I think one day when you're ready, you'll get up and "do something". in the meantime, as others have said, keep up the diary and be proud of logging (that's a big step right there). Also, see exercising as a wide variety of activities: throw the ball with your kids, take a walk with them, take the stairs instead of…

And the answer is...???

Hey, me too! I joined in January, but never really got going. 10 pounds later, in April, I finally started seriously trying. [this is after successfully losing 30 pounds years ago, and then regaining that PLUS 30 more] It's an ongoing battle! Good luck to all of us.

My thoughts *exactly*!

Great resources, everyone. Thanks!

Hi, & welcome! That's where I was: I just had enough and wanted to feel/look/be healthier. Once I hit that point, I signed on and have been following MFP pretty regularly (weekends are a bit of a challenge!) I find if I stick to the plan, it takes away the guess-work. Once the calories are done for the day, they are done.…

I agree. I am 5'6" and 135 is my goal weight... 140 realistically. I think any chart you look at will tell you that you are in a healthy range for your height (on the low end), and losing 20 pounds is just unhealthy. If you want to feel better, lift weights, work on aerobic capacity, and most important, learn to like who…

Appreciate the time you took to type that all out...great ideas.

I know that feeling! Chew some gum? Walk around the office or outside? A big glass of water helps me sometimes. Or, if all else fails, I find one of those mini chocolates and savor it. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I just found this board and would love to be a part of it. I am 45, and the Mom of 1. I have lost 15 pounds towards my goal. I have a ways to go, but I continue to turn to MFP for support and encouragement, and the inspirational stories. My hope is to start exercising ... I could really up my energy and weight…

I have the Southwest Salad every day, and I find I don't even need the dressing. There's a nice lime glaze already on the salad.

I am 5'6" and would love to be 125 again, but realistically I think 130-135 is do-able.

False. Not a one! (not brave enough) TNP likes hockey.
