Ditto Runkeeper!! I'll finish off the year at about 600 miles....so to answer the OP's ?? that will get me from Alexandria, VA to Montreal, Canada if I head north, Brunswick, GA if I head south, and just past Louisville, KY if I head West.

That's not true at all. Like I said in my prior post, you can get a tall skim latte for 100 cals. And many of the tall size "skinny" beverages at Starbucks are still an affordable indulgence, from a calorie perspective, at about 150 cals or less. All of their nutrition information is available on line, so the key is to do…

Me too.

Like prior poster said it's the caramel, chocolate, whipped cream, syrup, etc. Some of the larger Starbucks drinks have upwards of 500 calories. And a lot of the frozen coffee drinks are even worse. I love Starbucks, but I stick to double tall skim lattes (100 cals) or occasionally splurge on a sugar free syrup. I think…

Just heard from a friend of mine that did not get in. But also know of 2 others that did.
-
Yep!!
-
So did you all get in? Official results are not yet posted, but e-mails went out overnight for everyone that was drawn. I am in along with several of my favorite running buddies.

I have some Nike gloves, which are nice and have a key "pocket." I also have some Lulu Lemon gloves. Nike gloves are ripping though...but may just be due to use. They do get a lot of use in the winter. I actually took them off today a couple of miles into my 5 miler...just didn't need them anymore. I have been known to…

Easiest way to do it is to eat a whole foods based diet. Then you don't have to worry about the labels since you are in control of what is in your food.
-
That one looks yummy!! Need to add it to my baked oatmeal recipe file.

I just bought a HRM, but it I consider it a tool. None of this is exact science and I happen to believe in allowing for some wiggle room. I started doing the following Thanksgiving week. Got a bit sidetracked by the holiday, but it seemed to be working: 10 cals per minute of hard cardio (running/elliptica/arc trainer) 7…

This. While you can't expect to go out and run a mile, you should be able to run one or 2 minutes.

Nothing...it's just another day on the calendar.

It doesn't matter....if someone takes an item in for return or exchange they will find out the cost of the item with or without a gift receipt: the gift receipt should help to make that process a bit easier. Retailers need to know the price that was paid for that item. If someone returns an item with no receipt, they get…

I eat a range of calories instead. Between 1200-1400 on days I am not very active and between 1400-1800 on days that I exercise. That sometimes accounts for eating some, but not all of my exercise calories. None of this is exact science as far as calories in and calories out go, so I always allow for some "wiggle room." I…

Runkeeper!! You can enter pretty much any exercise manually, and it automatically syncs with a web page too.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Besides what are you waiting for? New year's is just another day on the calendar. The sooner you start, the sooner you will get there.

I know there are tons of runners out there.....hello?!!
-
My next race is the "Jingle All the Way" 8k on Sunday.

Once you are comfortable at about 3 miles, there is absolutely nothing wrong with starting on some speedwork. And I will point out that my initial post did say to go the distance first. I started doing reverse split repeats long before I ever ran my first 5k or went beyond a 3 or 4 mile run. My best races, at any distance,…

Since you said you are working on "running" 3 miles, it sounds like you still walked a bit in your 5k. Is that the case? If so, work on going the distance first. Once you are actually running 3 miles, speedwork is the best way to get faster. Run intervals that are at a pace about a minute faster than your PR. In your case,…

You need to go with what is comfortable. I tried to start out at that pace, but as I started running for longer periods of time, I determined that a bit slower was better...and that was fine. The best piece of advice I got when I started running was to focus on going the distance. As you begin to ramp up your…

Soups, stews, and chilis are a favorite in my house at this time of year. Many are 150 cals/cup or less....you can have second helpings and not feel guilty at all!!
-
I run, but completely agree about bigger shoes: at least a half size - being on your feet for an extended period will cause your feet to swell regardless of what you are doing. And even moreso when you are exercising. Socks will help and I also do the vaseline thing too, especially in the winter.

We all have them. Just put it out of your head and move on....and of course that is easier said than done. We are our own worst enemies sometimes.
-
Yep....that's always my back up plan along wtih the GW Parkway 10 MIler :-) I've gotten in the past 2 years, so hopefully that streak will continue.
-
I only clocked around 50...will get the exact total tonight. And I think all of that was on the stationary bike!! I thought we would get in a couple of longer rides this month, but that didn't happen.
-
It's on streaming Netflix now too.
-
It's on my radar screen, but probably won't happen in 2012. I am however, doing the DC RR half on St. Patty's day!!

Sunday's "Walking Dead" episode was great TV!! You can get "back stories" on WD on line. And the back story on Sophia was that Otis found her and put her in the barn. But Shane killed him before they could put 2 + 2 together.
