IMO weighing is great for calorie dense foods. Can be an eye opener and really make a difference!

This is still my favorite video on why weighing food can be important. No, it isn't for everyone, but if you are trying to figure it all out, this is a good eye opener. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjWPclrWVY But to go back to the OP ? IMO, if it has a skin (banana and citrus) peel it before weighing, if not, just count…

The active ingredient is senna and it has a laxitive effect: so it will clean you out, and quite possibly give you the runs (which is why you lose the bloat/excess water). Agree about the taste: they do make one with lemon now that tastes better and I think it is a little less potent. Do your homework on senna and stay…

I am pretty active but have a group of friends on Fitbit that I am always at the bottom of the heap with with workday and weekend challenges. They work active jobs (I sit at a desk), log ridiculous mileage running (my running days are over), etc. I often wonder where they find the time and energy for it all, but more power…

MWF up at 5AM for strength training and a spin class. I also make sure I work out on weekends. That leaves Tues and Thurs as off or recovery days. I also shoot for 10k steps a day on my FitBit: regardless of whether or not I work out. I happen to have a very nice one mile walking trail around on our campus, so when the…

There is a difference between being hard on the glutes and chafing your bum. I take a spin class once a week, in addition to logging other bike time as well. I do not pull out the bike shorts unless I am going 25+ miles, and have never had a problem.

Most people don't need to eat any differently unless they are engaged in instense and sustained cardio activity of an hour or more. So it really depends on what you are doing. That being said...I stick to a range and eat a bit less on days I don't exercise and a little more on the days that I do. Usually somewhere between…

My trainer has said if it fits into your DAILY macros it is fine. She sent me a link to someone that was training hard for a fitness competition that decided to eat a snickers a day as an experiment to see if it impacted her results. End result was that it did not...but it fit within her macros. My preference is a tasty…

Awesomeness all around!! Nothing to really add...yet!

In for a century this month. Surprised I pulled off as many as I did last month. Should be able to get in some good bike rides after my half marathon.
-
I don't ride much @ this time of year. Mostly due to training for longer distance running races (I have a half marathon March 17 and a 10 Miler April 1) and weather. However, our winter has been very mild and if it keeps up, I'll start logging something other than a half hour here and there on the stationary bike at the…

Big 5-0 for me in May. Planning on a "girls" trip of some sort....so many of us are hitting that mark this year. Hubby will just have to deal. Right now it looks like Fort Lauderdale w/a hop over to the Bahamas. Other thoughts are the Keys and New Orleans. But that could all change....

If you think your coffee is "bitter," change your brand. I worked for Starbucks for many years, and while coffee might have a "bite" to it due to the acidity, it shouldn't taste bitter. I agree about trying different brands and types of beans. As a rule, Central American coffees are crisp and clean, Indonesian coffees are…

We have refillable water bottles in the fridge....28 oz each. I try to drink at least 2 a day (breakfast, and when I get home from work) so there is 7 glasses right there . I also keep one at my bedside overnight, and sometimes drink a couple of equivalent size bottles at work. So while I usually stop counting at 8 or 9…

I always use plans from runnersworld.com. You can adjust the plan to one of 3 levels based on how hard you want to train, mileage, etc. For half marathons it only has your running 4 days per week. 2 shorts days of 2 or 3 miles, and the other 2 runs get longer with each week. Still allows time for cross training (xt),…

Well...I usually lose weight there first, but this time around I did not. Not sure why that is other than maybe just overall body changes in my late 40's.
-
I hardly ever get them, and when I do, they are usually food related (eating less than an hour before a workout). But that doesn't sound like your issue. I agree with taking a look at your water intake: if you are running a lot, you probably need to drink more than 8 glasses a day, especially at this time of year. We often…

Since you are in my neck of the woods....http://www.wilsonbridgehalf.com/ It's capped at about 4000 though. If you are up for a small road trip, check out some of the halfs over in the Delaware beach area. I know there are some in Lewes/Rehoboth that are smaller. There are usually a couple in the spring and another one in…

Prosecco at Christmas. Not sure about NYE yet. Weather permitting (right now the forecast looks VERY crappy) I'm doing a "Hair of the Dog" 10k on New Year's Day: so if I am planning to run I'll drink beer. I can have a few beers and run the next day...can't do that with wine or liquor. Otherwise, I'll drink wine.

I've done a ton of races, but only 2 Half marathons so far. I liked my first BECAUSE it was my first. It was a smaller race in Lewes Delaware, very pleasant course, and relatively flat and fast. About half was of it was on the trails in Henlopen State Park. However, I have to say that my second was my favorite, but not…

I will occasionally log a particularly LONG/BIG cleaning day that is way above and beyond what I would normally do. Or maybe a particularly long day on my feet (major Black Friday Shopping:-). But even if I do several hours of it, I will only log an hour or so. Otherwise, I just log exercise.

Pretty much gave up all sodas almost 30 years ago and have never looked back. I might occasionally have one if there are no other options, but that is a rare occurrence.
-
My thoughts exactly. I'm sure their famillies would have preferred a happier ending as well.
-
But wine is good for you as long as you don't go overboard!!
-
Portion control. I was lucky that I already had a pretty healthy diet, I rarely eat fast food, don't drink sodas, etc. so I didn't have to change a ton in my diet. But too much is still too much. The first 30# fell right off when I pulled out cups and a scale. And I still use them daily.

If you aren't hungry, don't worry about it.
-
Put simply....you don't.

You will get there. 5mph may just be too fast for you @ this point and that's OK. One of the best pieces of advice I got starting out was just to go the distance, the speed will come later. They were right! When you are ready to move on from C25K, there are tons of free training plans out there: I happen to like…

This. I mix it up a lot. Running is primary, but I am a newbie triathlete so I cycle too and swim in the summer. In the winter I still try to do my longer runs outside, but will use the TM for shorter ones and pair it with a ride on the bike for a "brick." I also use other cardio equipment at the gym on cross training days…
