  • Mint gum is a new one....had not heard that.
  • I carry clutches a lot and that definitely helps :-)
  • The problem with parties, weddings, receptions whatever, is that it can be VERY tedious to break down/search everything if nutritional content is not readily available. I'm not talking about the veggie and cheese tray here or the glass of wine that can easily be tracked. I'm talking about things you might eat that are…
  • Me three. Most people underestimate what they eat, so I agree in going big as well.
  • I have only done it once, and I completely agree with the dream "analysis" in regard to waking up crying as having a deep emotional issue to deal with. Indeed, that was what mine was about.
  • I love a good mojito, but there can be an awful lot of sugar in them though, so it adds up quick. A traditional mojito is made with club soda, which usually has no calories, or if so, very few, so there is no need to specify "diet soda water."
  • Pretty much any fruit flavored vodka with soda. Especially Citron and Pear.
  • Yep. Also jalapeno and chili paste.
  • I came home after my first 5k and immediately started looking for a half marathon to do: I was hooked. My next 2 races were a 10 miler and a half marathon, both less than 6 months later. That was quite a jump distance wise though and may not be for everyone. You may want to begin "ramping" up your distance now and start…
  • If you want to "cleanse" save the money and what will be a disgusting experience and just eat fruit and veggies for a few days. That will do the trick!
  • As so many others have said, you have to find something that you love. I consider myself a runner, but recently branched out into triathlons....and I love it!! I'm always looking for a new challenge.
  • Usually when I "commit" to a movie I will watch it all the way through....and as I read through this I was reminded how unwatchable Austin Powers "Goldmember" was. There aren't a whole lot of movies I say that about...just saw something else recently that was like that...can't remember what it was though. I think it was an…
  • Me three. I thought it was a great twist on alien flicks...with a bit of social commentary thrown in.
  • "The Hangover" - I laughed more watching "Hot Tub Time Machine," and that was hardly a "classic" "Superbad" - was SUPER BAD!!
  • You said you just started...there is a reason they tell you to take a "rest day." It doesn't mean you can't exercise though walk, ride a bike, do weight work, but just don't run.
  • Daily...but I agree that you cannot make it a habit to obsess about day to day fluctuations. As long as the overall trend is down, you are good!
  • I have boxed things up and shipped them off to people with the agreement that they pay for shipping....have not had any problems doing that. Good luck!!
  • I love twitter. While some people definitely overshare, it is a great way to "pool" information and do quick searches on topics that you are interested in.
  • That's real similar to a Greek Shrimp that I make, except I use fresh tomato, put it on top of baby spinach, and throw it in the oven to bake. A one dish dinner!!
  • ^^THIS^^ Yes, it's simple math, but it's not that simple. Despite entering everything there are still MANY variables that can contribute to calorie counts being incorrect, too many to go into here. This video is an example of one of them....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjWPclrWVY Unless you are wearing an HRM 24/7,…
  • Thanks to everyone about the Ragbrai info. Hubby is partnering with our neighbor and one of his buddies. But I will definitely pass it along!
  • I'll commit to 100. I think I barely broke 35 in October...but I did 25 miles of those this past Sunday. It was a great ride and I blogged about it if anyone is interested. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/RMinVA Hubby and I were just talking yesterday about getting some "winter" riding gear. He did his first century ride…
  • I brown each side in a cast iron skillet for about 4 mins. Then throw them in a large baking dish and 375 oven for about 20 mins to finish them off. They are browned on the outside and nice and juicy inside when you do them this way.
  • Maybe I do want my flashes to return after all :-)
  • Something to consider, and that I am surprised no one has really mentioned, although the OP alluded to it, you are looking at a self generated entry that is driven by the user, and may or may not be accurate. Food diaries don't always tell the whole story. Nor does someone simply saying "I eat under 1000 calories." For…
  • My parents had an old nordic track and it was awful! The fly wheel was difficult from day 1, and it needed a LOT of TLC to work properly. I agree about checking Craig's List, or maybe freecycle.org for a less expensive motorized one.
  • I agree about getting an HRM. At a sub 3mph pace, you quite possibly do burn more on a bike, but my best guess would be that they are actually probably pretty even. 318 for a half hour is VERY high for a stationary bike, especially for "light effort." I just did my first triathlon and was only racking up about 250 cals for…
  • Mine came from Target...$26.50. Battery operated. Doesn't take up a lot of counter space, which I love. http://www.target.com/p/Digital-Food-Scale/-/A-11011109
  • "Miracle Noodle" is just a marketing gimmick. If you have a local Asian market, they should have shirataki noodles. Also stores like Whole Foods and even your regional grocery chain may have them as well: look with the tofu/vegetarian items. You definitely want to rinse them and cook in hot water for a couple of minutes,…
  • There is no such thing as a "sugar free" latte with milk...there is lactose in the milk. You can do no added sugar as in adding a sugar free syrup. Or you could use a milk alternative to cut back on the sugar, but even then, I think unsweetened almond or soy milk still have a tiny bit of sugar.
