bump! Thanks for this!

Hi everyone, I'm Erika. I'm 25 years old, 5' 1.5." I have always struggled with my weight, but over the last year or two, it's definitely gotten out of control. I started my job in February of last year, and was doomed since day one. My job requires me to sit at a desk for 9 hours a day, so needless to say, I've gained…

Alright Kiddos, I did it! I bought the Polar FT7! I'm so excited, can't wait to start working out with my new HRM.
-
Thanks! Yea, I'm pretty much sold on the polar... Now the question is, is it necessary to spend the extra $$$ for the FT7 as opposed to the FT4. I just wonder how much better is it... But really, it's only a little more, so I might just splurge. :)

Check out my post from earlier today entitled "HRMs: Polar FT7 or Sportline Cardio 660." A lot of people have weighed in on their opinions on a couple different HRMs. Looks like the favorites are Polar FT4 and FT7, depending on what all you're looking for.
-
Thanks so much for your great responses everyone! Does anyone else use it on a stationary bike? I know one person mentioned that the Polar HRM was picking up from the sensors on the bike and it would cause it to start over.... Anyone else have that problem?
-
Liz - Wear it under your clothes. Most women tuck it under the strap of their sports bra under their *ahem* chest. :p Also, a tidbit I've read from a lot of people is to be sure to dampen the sensors on the strap just before putting it on so that it gets better traction to your skin and a better read of your HR.
-
Testing....Testing.... Anyone out there?
-
Definitely a chest strap is important. I haven't been able to see a huge difference in the FT7 and the FT4 except that the FT7 is a little more advanced. According to their website, the 7 is for people trying to improve their fitness as well as lose weight whereas the 4 is more simply for people trying to improve their…

Feel free to add me too! I'm looking to lose around 50 pounds and I'm at 1200 cals a day as well. I have a desk job (hopefully not for too much longer, but it's hard to know) and I'm sitting the majority of my day. I go to the gym before or after work as many days a week as possible, but it can be hard to get it in some…

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18, I'm 25 now. Because of uncomfortable and very irregular periods, I was put on birth control pills in high school (different ones during different years for a couple of reasons). When I was 19 I began getting headaches all the time, to the point where it was 24/7; that lasted for 7…

I too have been researching the various HRM options. I think I'm set on the Polar FT4 or FT7. They have really good reviews and seem to be very reasonably priced in the grand scheme of things. BUMPing for more info!

Great info! Thanks for posting, and I'm glad you were able to get the help you needed to get closer to your goals!
-
You look incredible! Great job!! You're an inspiration to so many of us.
-
Thanks for posting everyone! I love reading all the responses. Anyone have a go-to song, artist or band that just really makes you want to push it even harder?
-
Great inspirations! Congratulations on beating diabetes and keep up that great work!
-
Hahahah! That's a good, funny thought to keep in the back of your mind during your journey. Also really cool that you have horses. I've always kind of wanted to raise horses.....but I grew up in the suburbs (more on the city side)... although, everyday I'm looking for a way out.

What great motivations and things to look forward to. Did you meet him online?
-
Ladymuscles, you have some fantastic mental strength to be able to set such high (but still doable) goals for yourself and keep up with them. Congrats on all you've accomplished thus far and I wish you all the luck in everything else you work towards in the future. That's fantastic!
-
Wow! That is absolutely amazing! 100 lbs in 4(ish) months!!? What a fantastic job you're doing. Way to be committed! You're an inspiration to all of us.
-
Hmm No responses.... :( Well I'm curious to know too, so BUMP!
-
Me too, actually. I don't know that I can afford both at this time. I suppose it's not completely necessary to have one that records calorie use in my day to day activities.... so maybe just the HRM? Does anyone know if there are any HRMs that record other things like sleep patterns? I gues that might be a silly question,…
-
Thanks! Let me know how you like it. I'm still working on a little more research, but I'm excited to finally get one.
-
Hmm interesting point. I want something that will count my calories burned while I'm working out. Bit would be nice to have something that also tracks my sleep patterns, etc.
-
Feel free to add me. I need to lose around 50 pounds.

Hot Mama!

It sounds like you're definitely not eating enough of your calories back, but you're also not hydrating enough. The amount of water you're drinking is great for a day that you're not working out, but since you're working out 6 days a week and burning so many calories, you have to compensate for that. And that's not just…
