1: OHP is going to be the weakest lift you have. It's a small muscle group and hard to develop. 2: Make sure you're doing bench presses correctly. Good leg drive, arched back, shoulder blades back, no puppy paws, etc. Elite FS has some good videos on how to do it. If you are, then add in some supplemental exercises…

Your day isn't ruined. If you regularly eat at or below maintenance, even going 1000 calories over budget won't significantly impact you. In fact, many people suggest a cheat day now and then to ramp up your metabolism and get a better effect overall. Plus, if you do exercise, then that exercise has a lot of health…

A HRM won't be accurate for work unless it is seriously heavy work. It's expecting you to be involved in steady state aerobic exercise (jogging, elliptical, etc), not start and stop work. A fitbit or something similar would be more accurate. But if you're only working 7 hours a day, 3 days a week, you may just want to set…

Bottom line up front: don't sweat it. Burning more is almost always better. Now for the explanation: When doing exercise like this, your body has two energy sources. One is to mix fat with oxygen (aerobic exercise). The other is to use the glycogen stored in your muscles (anaerobic exercise). The fat burning process is…

First off, congratulations! You've made the hardest step already. Next, the absolute BEST workout plan is one that you will actually use. Bottom line: move. So find something you enjoy. Sounds like you're already doing that too, so congratulations again! Some people like repetition so they can see and measure progress on a…

First thing to understand: HRMs do not measure calories burned! They measure Heart Rate. Next thing to understand: A faster beating heart does not burn significantly more calories. You can check this yourself by sitting perfectly still and hold your breath as long as you can. Repeat over and over. Watch your HR soar. Are…

One thing you will find is that light exercise when you're sore is fantastic. There's a number of reasons/theories for this. I'm not saying these are gospel, as I haven't looked into the science behind them, I just know that light exercise is great. Some say that the pathways your body uses to send pain signals are the…

It took me all of about 4 months to outgrow the Total Gym. I was 40 years old, and in piss poor shape. It wasn't long before I really hit the limits of where that machine could take me. I thought because you could buy a bar and add weights it would be nice, but you can't put more than 5 lb plates on it because the plates…

Your profile isn't open so it will be hard to give you any decent advice. How long have you been at a deficit. How long have you been doing the exercises. All those things come into play. If you've only been doing it a week or two, and not experienced any loss, then that's perfectly normal. If you've been doing it since…

Mashed sweet potatoes. Roasted green apple mashed potatoes. Orange ginger glazed carrots with chipotle spice. Coat it in raspberry chipotle sauce and stuff with a portobella mushroom confit. Coat in barbeque sauce and roll in pecans. Serve with a roasted apple sauce.

1: Everybody has a different maximum HR. The 220 - Age formula is a rough approximation and can easily vary by +/- 10 bpm. If you aren't being stressed at 129 - 138, you are probably different. 2: Weight loss is about calories coming in being less than calories being burned, not a HR. 3: Whilst doing aerobic exercise, your…

MFP is about the least accurate method there is. It can't possibly know all kinds of factors that go into an aerobic calorie burn. MFP is not about being the most accurate. It's about adopting a lifestyle that yields results over the long term. For example, if you are hitting the elliptical for 30 minutes, MFP will always…

Don't let fear of something that might happen become the bull**** excuse you use to keep yourself from realizing your dreams. I've ruined both my knees from skateboarding. It was so bad, if I stepped off a curb wrong, it would twist out and I couldn't walk for a week. But I went after it. Lost some weight so there wasn't…

A quick bit of estimation is .00032 calories per pound per foot. Of course, that's the actual energy required to lift the weight. Your body is terribly inefficient and will burn more calories than that in order to apply the .00032 calories per foot pound. For example, squatting in a power rack will burn many more calories…

I'm going to say it's because you're finally in a good mindset. Look, a binge is a one-off event. You eat healthy most of the time. All the evidence shows a cheat day at worst will wash out in a few days and at best can actually kick-start your metabolism and help break past plateaus. You went crazy one day. You realized…

After a wrist injury I had to stop lifting for two months. This followed a stint where my gym membership had run out, but I hadn't gotten my home gym set up. Again, about two months without lifting. Funny thing is without the weights I turned to food. Gained another 10 pounds. So, yeah, I'm in the same boat. On my way back…

Favorite hot sauce: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/HawtSauce09/status :) I like the Chipotle hot sauce by Tabasco quite a bit. Chipotle peppers are smoked jalapenos, so should go well with what you're having.

That means you're doing it right. When you exercise your body will push fluids into those muscles for repair, etc. After a while it normalizes out. Perfectly normal, perfectly fine. Congratulations!
