BMI charts don't really work too well for people our height, as we're outliers in terms of height. Body fat % is going to be more accurate an indicator of body composition and more realistic to achieve if you're gaining muscle.

Other forum topics about Insanity mention making sure to eat the amount of calories suggested by Insanity, which will net you at a deficit. As an example, if you want to have a net of 1200 calories to lose 2 lbs per week, you have to eat more than that, because doing Insanity workouts burn calories. Check to make sure the…

@hopestobelost, the diet really doesn't teach people how to eat healthy, and it's so important to eat properly (not just healthy but to make sure to eat enough calories) on the off-days, that when you don't already know how to eat for maintenance, it's easy to yo-yo, which has evidence that yo-yoing is worse for your…

I did it for two days, and lost ~3 lbs, kept it off the 4 rest days by sticking to my maintenance calories. Tomorrow starts a full cycle (I started a day late this week, so I only did 2 of 3 days so I can keep the 4 rest days), hopefully I'll see some more results. I did substitute, keeping in mind calories and…

I have a big breakfast, a small lunch (sandwich, usually), a snack, a decent size dinner, and if I woke up early and am staying up late, another snack. Vegetables ideally go with every meal. This way, I don't stay so hungry after breakfast that I can't wait for the next meal and end up having binge-y behaviors, and I don't…

If it were purely a numbers game, you'd be losing around half a pound per day because of your BMR, so clearly it's not just a numbers game. In the Minnesota Starvation Study, participants were put on a 1500 calorie diet and they initially lost a lot of weight and then plateued. These are people whose maintenance amount of…

1500 calories is what they put people on for the Minnesota Starvation Study ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Starvation_Experiment ) to view the effects starvation has. 1700-1800 is probably better, especially if you're exercising (or even more if you are). I'm vegetarian, so YMMV I tend to eat veggie or black bean…
