Way to go -- you look fantastic!!

Dr. Oz has some of the research citations on this in his book - You: On a Diet. I switched and it really does make a difference. The same amount of food on a small plate (me) and a large plate (hubby) feels very different. My husband has switched now too.

I'm a complete geek (been in the PC industry for 20+ years and between my hubby and I we currently have 10 computers, including 5 laptops, at home). I just did a bunch of research to help my mother-in-law buy a laptop over Christmas (she spent $750). What we found -- for a general use laptop, generally Dell and HP offer…

I love my Fitbit! There is actually a whole forum dedicated to folks using FitBit. It synchs up with MFP, which is great. It's easy to wear (it clips on your bra & stays -- I lost 2 of the Phillips fitness measure devices b/c they kept falling off :(). The only downside is that it's not waterproof - so if you sweat a lot,…

Wow, almost 30 pounds is fantastic!

I'm in for 50 miles -- walking/jogging/swimming :)

+1 to this --- I work at home now (consulting), but when I worked in an office (18+ years) here's what I'd keep in my drawer for instant heathy lunches (breakfasts & dinners): - brown rice (the pre-cooked kind that comes in a bowl) - cans of salmon and tuna (I'd heat up the rice, then add in the salmon or tuna with some…

The fitbit is better for calculating daily activity. It does calculate the difference between activity levels when you're working out (e.g. lightly active, very active...) -- it generally overestimates compared to my HRM, but not nearly as much as some of the MFP database entries.

I am proud b/c I finished Day 3 of the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution & Workout 1 of the C25k -- and it's only Wed before noon! I may go for a swim tonight too -- so there belly rolls!! I'm going to beat you yet!

That happens to me sometimes, especially if I eat something high fat. What I usually do is put the portion I want on a plate, eat half and then sip a cup of tea to see how my stomach is going to take it. Sometimes I finish and feel ok, sometimes I feel so full by then I don't eat any more.

You look great, so happy!! Congratulations on your great work. Thanks for sharing the inspiration!

I just finished the Week 1 Workout 1. I'd heard how hard her workouts were, so I was terrified I wouldn't be able to do it (I'm REALLY out of shape). But it wasn't too bad. I definitely feel it, and there were some exercises I couldn't quite do all the reps/time. I'm sure it's going to get much harder, and I'm glad to be…

I'd say B. I've been reading the YOU: books (On a Diet, Staying Young) and a book called Anticancer (recommended by my aunt's nutitionist, my aunt's recovering from Ovarian cancer). These books have persuaded me to choose non-processed foods as much as possible. I figure -- if stay within my calorie guidelines & log…

I had an appt with a doctor who specialises in fitness/nutrition and works primarily with people trying to lose weight. I asked this same question to set my goal weight (I was thinking 135, he thought 145 would be more likely for my body type). His advice was - once I start getting close to my goal weight to go get my body…

I'm a costume designer for theater, and I've seen all kinds of body types (I've been doin it for 15 years). Every type can be beautiful --what I've found to be the key is people who are comfortable with themselves, whatever shape they are. I've seen size 20+ women who are beautiful because they dwell well in their skin…

There's no beach, but the Washington DC area is a great place to visit. There are tons of things to do around the city, or within a day trip, especially if you like history. The Smithsonian museums (there are 10+ in the DC area -- all free to visit). Lots of government buildings -- e.g. Capitol... The Jefferson Memorial is…

Awesome -- congrats! I just crossed over last week, and boy it was fabulous!! I can't wait to get to 28!

I love cookbooks too, my husband laughs at me because I often read them cover to cover. For healthy & low cal I love Now Eat This by Rocco DiSpirito -- comfort foods made heathy/low cal. I've got the original & the Now Eat this Diet, I use the recipes from both (I didn't use the diet plan though). And the great thing about…

1) This morning my husband said he could visibly see a different in my weight. I thought he was just being encouraging, so I tried on some things from my "someday" box to see. 2) And they FIT!

That's awesome -- go you!!

They sound great, thanks for sharing!

I heard Jillian Michael's new Body Revolution was good for beginners, so I ordered that -- it should be here this week. I'll post about it when I start.

I haven't heard this one before, it sounds fabulous!

Cube it and put it in a curry! Below is a healthy curry recipe I posted --- you could add eggplant to this, adding it at the same time as the cauliflower. Sometimes eggplant can be a little bitter, to get rid of that: cut it into cubes, set them in a colandar over a pan or in your sink, salt them well (you rinse most of…
