Marcy, fantastic commitment! Sorry to hear about your "friends" comments. Sometimes people can be jealous of other's successes. I hope that get to achieve your dream of climbing your rock wall. Keep your head up high and soldier on. It might be the right time to start hanging out with like minded people. Best of luck on…

Waking up every morning to the realization that your stronger, healthier, lighter than you were a week ago, month ago is a incredible feeling. My resting heart rate is around 43. Not bad for an ex chain smoking alcoholic. The gift of having a "new" body is beyond words. You are only limited by what prisons your mind…

Same for me. Allen Carr's book freed me from the bondage of tobacco. Cold turkey is the only one that worked for me.No regrets. One year and five months smoke free, no cravings or desires to ever pickup this dirty habit again. :)

Alcohol used to be the focal point of my life. It was more important then family or friends. I finally woke up to the lie that it is. If I could live my life over I would definitely never include alcohol in it. Since quitting drinking my family life has improved beyond what I thought possible. I haven't felt this good or…

Fantastic job on taking on the Grind. Mountains sure have a way of humbling you. Last time I was up Grouse was 1979. Bet you can shave another five minutes off that.

I'm a alcoholic, If this individual is an alcoholic, they won't want to hear it from anyone within his group of friends. He has to hit bottom and want help in order to change. That's the way it goes in our world. The direct approach will generally end up with hurt feelings and resentment. Pass it on to a professional like…

If it had any positive effects I would still be on it. Night sweats, sexual disfunction, mental confusion, weight gain, brain shocks if you forget to take it,:noway: . I weaned myself off of it and used cognitive behaviour therapy to deal with my depression and PTSD. What doesn't work for one might work for another…

I spend a lot less on being fit than I did being unfit. I now don't have to buy cigarettes, lighters, fast food, alcohol, taxi fare, cover charges, flowers, junk food. Polar ft4 = 139.99 Canadian $ ( still worth it) New bathing suit = 30.00 Prescription Swim Goggles = 60.00 Weekly swimming pass = 8.30 Swiss exercise ball =…

I'm a veteran, so I've been to Barrie a few times, caught a few cab rides from there to Borden. Used to be from Owen Sound which is just up the road from you. Currently in BC. How is your journey so far?

Perhaps if you made your diary public then someone could give you advice. Fruit is healthy, but if it's putting you over your daily calorie goal then it's not helping you. What is your activity level set at?

You won't save any money buying a "cheap" HRM. I tried that! I bought a piece of junk from Walmart and ended up returning it 2 weeks later. I then researched what the best HRM was for what I wanted and needed. Everything pointed to the Polar Fit 4. I love it! I wear it swimming, hiking, shopping, chopping wood, digging…

Urban legend. Eating before you go to bed doesn't make you fat, eating too much food does though. Your body is a furnace that is on 24/7.

Before I joined the military in 1978 I was running 10 miles a day. I spent 4 years on our high school cross country team. I found that hill training really helped build endurance. Running should be a relaxing exercise. So relax, you can do this. Couch to 5 k would be a great start. There are a lot of exercises you can do…

Spray olive oil on it with a Mr. Mister ( hand pump oil sprayer) then add your seasoning. The amount of oil is very light and not heavy on calories.

Polar FT4 and I love it. I was going to buy the FT7 but decided I didn't need it. I do manual input on MFP anyway. I wear mine swimming, chopping wood, hiking. It's a great piece of kit.

I found that once I started eliminating processed foods my taste buds changed. Greek yogurt can be a little tart. Non bitter stevia is a good choice, agave is good and my stand by is real maple syrup. I love blueberries and yogurt. It's like candy to me. I just have it plain now. Enjoy the journey.

I guess you will have to decide what is more important. Drinking or losing weight. Driving your body so hard to burn 1,000 calories so that you can consume 1,000 empty alcohol calories is about the only way around it and quite foolish IMHO. I'm sure you will figure out what is best for you. Good luck on your journey.…
