Thanks for feedback everyone. And I see I'm not alone on this! For the record, the quality of calories that makes up my normal diet isn't something that needs to be improved. And I'm not a soda drinker (or diet soda drinker for that matter) and I'm good with my water intake. I do, however, try to stick to low GI. I keep…

I realize that, I am just wondering if anyone knows of any way to apply this as a variable so that I can have a better idea of what I really burn a day.
-
is the yogurt/granola you're buying loaded with added sugar or something?
-
i eat almonds, avocado or olive oil every day. and i always fit in the cals just fine. stick to one serving, and you'll be fine.
-
bingo.

yes, its simple mathematics. the less calories your body needs, the more difficult it is to have a calorie deficit. without a workout, my body requires 1860 calories a day to maintain the weight that i am right now. if i weighed 100 pounds more than i do, my body would require approx 600 more calories a day to maintain…

 and a flower for you too :)

woops. double post.

i've had an ED before. it landed me in the hospital. you're right, denial is a huge part of an ED, for those that are, well, in denial about it. i didn't say that only those who have experienced an ED are the ones who can understand what it is. mental health professionals would too. but also anyone directly affected by…
-
and by the way... sufferers of an ED most certainly do understand what it is to have an ED. they are the ones suffering from it, after all. they may not understand the reasons for them having it or full extent of their issues that led to it, but i assure you they know what it is to have one.
-
cases are different, there's not one set "reason" someone develops an ED. just like there's different reasons for people having depression. or an addiction.
-
if someone is fasting, it is short lived and definitely aware of the fact that they are fasting. they're not in denial. anorexia nervosa is a slow progressing psychiatric disorder. no one wakes up and decides that day that they're going to become anorexic.
-
exactly. :) great info for those that don't have an understanding.
-
unless you're a mental health professional or have had an ED before, i can understand how its difficult for you to understand everything that is an ED.
-
i'm sorry, but if you've had an ED, you should know the difference. anorexia, bulimia, ect.. they are PROGRESSIVE psychological disorders. a fast is wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am-i'll-try-it-and-see-how-long-i-last... a far cry from a progressive psychological disorder.
-
when it comes to resisting, practice makes perfect :) after a while, you won't want it. if its a "hey i haven't indulged in quite a while i want some freaking french fries damnit" then go for it. but the other 90% of the time... the longer you go without it, the less you'll want it.
-
but i wish you all the best :)
-
you CAN gain it all back if you don't change your lifestyle and relationship to food. if bariatric surgery is for you, then go for it. but its not a magic bullet. you still do need to follow a diet plan.
-
i've only ever been on the pill. Yaz and Lo Loestrin FE to be exact. i've never experienced weight gain. i actually feel BETTER when on it because I have PMDD and bc is treatment for my PMDD symptoms.
-
i have tried them. THEY TASTE LIKE CRAP. its actually almost inedible.
-
and p.s. i normally eat low carb. not atkins low carb, but low carb compared to the simple counting calories method. i usually eat between 40 - 80 net carbs a day. when i vacation, i don't care. a simple 2 servings of fruit is 20+ g net carbs right there. sorry, but i will enjoy whatever i wanna eat when on vacation. yeah…
-
unless your vacations are longer than the average 4-9 days, i don't see how you can "pack on the pounds" in such a short amount of time. 90% of what you gain WILL be water weight. say your body burns 2,000 calories a day. and on vacation you eat 3,000 a day. that's +1,000 a day. in 7 days, that's TWO POUNDS. so freaking…
-
when i am on vacation i don't give a rat's *kitten* about my diet. vacation is vacation for a reason.
-
you OBVIOUSLY have absolutely no CLUE about farming. psssst. its called crop rotation. and everything else... wow, you're a bit misinformed.
-
yeah, i can tell. you sound like you're trying to sell something. i, on the otherhand, am in the healthCARE business. as in, i help manage hospitals all across the country. i wasn't arguing with you that food matters. but you asked people why they were wanting to lose weight, but then went off on a rant totally unrelated…
-
to the OP: i am a bit confused as to your real intentions and purpose for starting this thread.
-
lol @ "brotrain". i think i want to start using that.
-
HAHAHAHAHAHA hysterical!
-
as long as you're not going over your calories, then no.
-
strength training/weights. calorie deficit.
