  • Sodium itself isn't bad and is in the majority of all food. If you really want to stay within a certain amount of sodium, reduce the amount of processed, packaged foods you are eating. Whole, natural foods still contain sodium but it's within reasonable levels.
  • This is your first day. Give yourself a break. Just do try to plan your future meals so you stay at your preferred nutrient levels.
  • Only if you already near being able to fit skinny jeans. Looking at Amazon, the first three weeks are low carb. The rest in just exercise and good, clean eating. You can do that on your own.
  • I cook in bulk on the weekends so I tend to eat a lot of the same foods during the week. It doesn't bother me at all. I like the predictability and it helps me plan my calories.
  • If you aren't losing, then change things up. What type of workouts are you doing? Are you lifting weights? What are you eating? Have you cut out processed foods? How's your sodium intake? Have you tried low carb? Have you tried calorie cycling?
  • Took a quick peek at your diary. It's all the processed, packed foods you are eating. Try to reduce that. Stop adding table salt to your home cooked foods and rely on the food's natural sodium. You're also eating a lot of processed carbs and cheese. Those are also culprits. Drink a lot of water to flush out the water and…
  • Not true at all. How's your sodium intake? Are you eating processed foods? Are you REALLY doing consistent, "hard" cardio? Are you lifting weights? Have you tried low carb? There are a bunch of healthy things to try where you can get in over 1200 calories and still lose weight. What are you specifically doing for exercise?…
  • If you're cooking for a friend, why not ask her the type of foods she can or cannot eat. Everyone's diet is so unique to them. Better to ask HER than a bunch of strangers online.
  • The problem in your question is the word "supposed." There is no "supposed." If someone is not legitimately starving themselves, then whatever calorie level they choose to eat is up to them. I would ask someone how many total calories they've eaten that day. If it's a reasonable amount, I'm not going to get all into their…
  • If a doctor will cut you open, rearrange your digestive system, sew you back up and then tell you to eat 500-1000 calories for the first 6 months and then 1000-1500 calories for the rest of your life (with exercise), then I think a regular person choosing to eat 1800 calories is well within their rights. You or I don't…
  • I agree with you. People can choose to eat whatever they want to eat. I believe in playing around with calories. If it takes going a bit lower, then so be it. I've stopped giving people that advice because MFP is all about eating and eating. It's in reaction to so many people legitimately starving themselves. However, a…
  • You will lose weight all over. However, if you are naturally shapely, your butt may always be somewhat proportionally larger. I wouldn't worry about it until you get close to your goal weight. Stay up on your lower body toning/strength training.
  • Find the fruit in the database listed in ounces. Then convert your grams back to ounces.
  • I've never done i but I have researched it. It's a good deal if you like vegetables. The only down side is that you usually have little control over which specific veggies you get. You get whatever comes in during the harvest. You could get 2 types of squash even if you hate squash.
  • Afterburn or EPOC is greatly overrated. It's usually a percentage of the calories you burned during the activity. If you burn 150 calories and were able to achieve a 10% afterburn, you only burned an additional 15 calories. Big whoop. Links:…
  • On the push ups, start in the down position and push yourself up for the first rep. That will give you a little momentum boost. You may only do one or two. You will build up to more as time goes on. Make a conscious to always bang out just one more rep each time you do them.
  • I cycle my calories and it's been working for me.
  • I believe it's against the site rules to discuss the HCG diet since the Feds banned the supplements.
  • McCormick also has a salt free seasoning. Actually, any other seasoning besides salt works well. Garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, etc.
  • I'm going to tell you flat out. You are going to get a million answers from folks on MFP and you will get more confused. Find a calorie level and stick with in for at least a month. Get in consistent, good cardio work and do some real strength training. Don't get caught up in the maelstrom of "eat back/don't eat back"…
  • I peeked at your food journal. You want to lose 98 lbs. and you're only allowed 1100 calories? Did you enter the correct numbers in MFP? At first glance: -Cut on the processed food -Eat regular meals -Get on a consistent exercise program. Get some good cardio and strength training
  • Elliptical and running are cardio. The Shred is more strength training. You need both.
  • There's a group for this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/4228-30-day-shred-support-group
  • Are you getting help for your eating disorder? Are you in therapy?
  • There's an entire group for you: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/3843-low-carb-living
  • The purpose of lifting ANY weight is to tax the muscles. If someone is just lifting 1 pound, that isn't a lack of understanding. That is just laziness.
  • Laying in bed all day will also burn calories. Would you count those? **shrug**
  • It's red because you went over the amount indicated. No biggie. It's up to you how much protein you eat. Click on the Reports tab then click under Nutrition. There you can see charts of each individual nutrient. You can't compare side by side though.
  • No biggie. Consider it a high calorie day, log it all in and move on. I do calorie cycling so I always plan in high calorie and low calorie days in addition to my normal calorie days.
  • Calories from just living don't count. The body is expending energy and burning calories just keeping you alive. Standing, sitting, regular walking, bending, etc is what the body was made to do. You aren't burning any significant calories engaging in regular activities. If you really want to "track" it get a Bodybugg or…
