Dove dark chocolate promises, just a piece or two and really taking the time to enjoy them.

I just made this one last night and it was yummy, I subbed oranges for the grapefruit (for some reason our store was out of grapefuit) it's filling enough to be a side salad or meal. I found it here - http://iowagirleats.com/recipes/?recipe_id=6005715 Black Bean, Quinoa, and Citrus Salad Ingredients (serves 3-4) 1/2 cup…

I am doing the color run in KC on the 30th! So excited! Have you ever done it before? I have been running 3 years, tomorrow I am doing the first 5K I ever did for the third year in a row :) in my experience I always feel better after I have my first mile in, I usually spend the first mile trying to remember why I am doing…

I haven't done it but I have a recipe to make your own energy gel using honey, honey lacks potassium and sodium. It adds some molasses for the potassium, and salt for sodium. It's 7tsp honey, 1 tsp molasses, and 1/8 tsp salt. Which makes several servings. Although it sounds yummy, I haven't figured a way to transport it…

I did it a couple years back and since then have ran lots of 5Ks, a 10K, and 3 half marathons :) It's really hard, but so worth it! Repeat workouts as necessary, and listen to your body. Also remember as temperatures warm up running is harder, your body will adjust to the temp change, but adjust your speed as the temps…

I wear them during and after long runs, usually anything over 6 miles. I don't wear them during the summer as much simply because I get too hot, but then when I put them back on after not wearing them I remember how much I love them, they feel great post run and reduce muscle cramps.

I also recommend Hal Higdon's program! I did my first half last year using his training plan, I ended up running 3 halfs last year using his training schedule each time, just moving up from the novice to the intermediate. Have fun and enjoy! There is nothing so wonderful as crossing that finish line the first time!!
