  • This doesn't really make sense.... I've lost 40 pounds and over 55 inches. While I still weigh more than I did in college (by 40 pounds), I'm wearing the SAME SIZE as I did in college - because I have replaced the fatty fat with some leaner muscle. According to my Bodybugg, I can burn over 300 calories in a half hour of…
  • LOL!! I know the feeling... The girls at work just got three loads of clothes from me (you know, the ones I've shrunk out of). And they are so excited, they keep encouraging me to keep on going so they can get even more clothes.
  • Don't give up!!!! I gain 2-6 pounds with my TOM. Give it a 7-10 days and it'll get back to normal (and then some!).
  • LOVE my TurboFire. Currently in the 3rd month of the TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme Hybrid. I'm 5'8" and currently weight 202 pounds. The TurboFire workouts are a combination of short HIIT (high intentsity interval training) workouts (ranging between 15 and 25 minutes each) to longer cardio workouts (between 30 and 55 minutes).…
  • Yep, I did the same thing and started steadily losing again. I think I'm going to have to change things up again, cause I've been at a standstill. LOL
  • By the end of THIS May? That's awfully quick to lose that much - and not necessarily healthy either. I started off a year ago needing to lose 82 pounds. One year later, I'm down 40. Granted, I know my progress has been painfully slow compared to others.... But I think any more than 8-10 pounds/month is extreme. I like…
  • I've been using DVD's for a year. I'm personally a fan of the Beachbody DVD's.... TurboFire, ChaLEAN Extreme, P90X, Hip Hop Abs - though the first two are my all-time favorites. Check out a local library for some to test out before you buy!
  • Congratulations!!! You have every right to dance the afternoon away (and week for the matter!). You should be proud.
  • I love this and agree... Don't calorie restrict just yet - make the healthier choices and stick with that first. Sometimes it can get overwhelming thinking of all the changes you SHOULD make... So take it one step at a time. Try making healthier choices first... Then start really tracking the nutritional values in those…
  • Keep doing what you're doing! You've already mentioned that parts of you are smaller... The lean muscle is starting to replace the fatter fat. And that's really what's important! Aside from that, your muscles could be retaining water as they get used to being challenged and strengthened. I usually notice a weight gain in…
  • I love my Bodybugg - and it's worked wonderfully since I got it 8 weeks ago! Chalene Johnson explains it best... http://powderblueproductions.com/, then go to Chalene's Workout, then click on Calories Burned. What I did NOT expect was all the nifty graphs and the such it shows me ... it's awesome for a graph/Excel nerd. :-)
  • Welcome to the club!!! Today is my one-year anniversary of my new lifestyle. Here we are 40 pounds, 40.345 inches, and 12.6% body fat less!!! You can do it - it's an amazing experience!
  • I have tried P90X, ChaLEAN Extreme, TurboFire, and Hip Hop Abs. I personally love ChaLEAN Extreme and TurboFire the best... and I think a big reason for that is because I love Chalene Johnson (the instructor). That might because because she's a woman and can better motivate women. Tony Horton (P90X) and I don't get along…
  • I haven't used her products... And I'm just like you - tried the "get-thin-quick" pills and stuff, but aiming to do it RIGHT this time. I love that they are promoting that this just to jumpstart your progress... I did the Shakeology 3-Day Cleanse, which had the same purpose - to jumpstart. I lost 4 pounds in those three…
  • My ab toning workouts have been part of larger workout programs (P90X, TurboFire, ChaLEAN Extreme, Hip Hop Abs). But I do have a few favorites... Get a 5- or 10-pound dumbell and hold it in front of your chest while lying on your back. Then take 4 counts to do a crunch, then 4 counts for to sit up to 45 degrees while…
  • I felt the same way when I pushed play on my first workout program one year ago. How did it get better? I kept pushing play day after day... One year later, I'm glad I did... I still have some progress to make, but I'm in a much better spot now than when I started. Just take it one day at a time... and pretty soon, you'll…
  • LOL... I sometimes feel the same way. I started getting those pudding snacks about a month ago, and they are GREAT when I need to satisfy the sweet tooth. :-)
  • Sometimes the body just does crazy things... I generally only have one week of real progress on the scale each month... And that's primarily because TOM messes with me for two weeks before/after. Sodium could also attribute to it (while I was under my calories Tuesday, I ate sushi for lunch which put me way over on…
  • Thank you for your feedback. That pretty much where my skepticism sits too for those same reasons... Just curious to see if I was alone. :-)
  • I've heard the Polar HRM's are awesome. My beau has one and loves it. It is water-proof, which would be beneficial too. I personally got the Bodybugg about 6-7 weeks ago and LOVE IT!! I got it for $120 using the discount on this page under Chalene's workouts then Calories Burned: http://powderblueproductions.com/
  • I've heard the Polar T4(?) HRM is fantastic - and water proof. My BF has that, though he hasn't used it in a while. Personally, I love my Bodybugg (check out http://www.24hourfitness.com/ for the least expensive rates I've found)... I got it 6 weeks ago and love all the graphs and reports it shoots at me - then again, I'm…
  • GREAT question... And no, they haven't been accurate for me.... For the last 5 weeks, I've been projected to be under 200... And I'm still at 203.8 - and I've been uber good these last 5 weeks (well, longer than that). LOL
  • Agreed... Best way to determine it is using n HRM of some sort. (I love my Bodybugg!) But in comparing my HRM results to the "Aerobics - High Intensity" option for the Zumba exercises... MFP is only off by 100-150.
  • First of all... your smile was ADORABLE in your BEFORE pictures... But NOW?!??!! You just look even more amazing and happy and confident. Great job on this HUGE milestone!!! Keep those pictures handy when you need motivation along the rest of your journey. :-) Beautiful!
  • Thanks for sharing!! The mind can be a wondrous or an evil thing. I too am 5'8" and would LOVE to look as amazing as you do. My goal is to be 160 pounds... and I fear I still won't look as good as you even at that. Then again, I have knobby knees. LOL. But seriously. You have an amazing figure and you look so toned!! In a…
  • Just saw this article this morning. :-) http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?post=why_the_scale_goes_up_when_you_start_a_new_workout_plan
  • Hi there!! I have started Zumba again recently - and LOVE IT!! I go once a week with the girls at work. As for calories, I bought a Bodybugg about 6 weeks ago. It's pretty consistent that I burn 500/550 calories per hour. So that's fairly close to what any of the "high impact aerobics" entries might give you.
  • Yeah, I do a LOT of reading on my lunch hour. Take the car to a different parking lot just to get away and get a mental break, and spend some time reading your favorite thing (magazine, book, whatever). And now that the weather is getting warmer, it's a wonderful way to get some fresh air (with the windows rolled down!).
  • Welcome to the MFP club!! I have had great success while being here - and the support and encouragement has been amazing!! Good luck in your journey... it'll be a great one!
  • I've heard the same thing - and truly hopes that's the case. I've been at it for almost 12 full months, and I'm down 36.6 pounds. My thinking is that I'm retraining my brain in a healthy lifestyle, not just a crash diet. Therefore, it'll be easier to maintain the weight loss once I reach my goal...
