  • Okay, this isn't from my significant other, but someone else in my family. I was having issues with a plateau and he (being the nursing and anatomy student in all his infinite wisdom) suggest eating only one meal a day. *blink blink*
  • I feel your frustration!!!! The last two weeks, I had been doing fairly well but put ON 6 pounds!! Part of it was TOM and the other part was sodium. Thankfully, 3 of those pounds were gone this morning. As far as your diary, I might start also tracking sugar and sodium. Those are two of my biggest "triggers," so it's…
  • This sounds delish!!
  • While I'm not a similar build, I've done both P90X and ChaLEAN Extreme, which were both AMAZING at helping me build muscle. I'm on Day #2 of the Les Mills Pump program and am looking forward to those results as well. Building muscle is simple... You gotta challenge your muscles, push them to the limits. Give yourself 2-3…
  • I do weigh myself daily, but only as a research tool. I like to see how doing different things affect the scale (to deter myself from doing some of those things in the future). Plus, TOM plays a big part into it. If I jump up 4-6 pounds overnight, I know TOM is right around the corner... And it'll take me about 10 full…
  • All really good feedback!! ksanchez - let me know what your doctor says!! I actually got mine checked out in December and results came back normal. Other than that, she couldn't offer me any other advice other than what I already knew / had tried. *sigh* renstwin - I had heard the same thing about giving the body a break.…
  • Thanks for your reply, jbakerak! Yes... I started the heavy weight lifting in 2010 - and agree with the reviews you've heard. MAJOR inches lost there. I continue to lift heavy weights during my existing strength training workouts. I like your idea of swapping out different foods to "test" if that's a trigger food. Sounds…
  • I grew up drinking my coffee with 2 scoops of regular sugar and about 2 T. of cream... Knowing that was adding unnecessary calories, I slowly weened myself off and now drink regular coffee black. First few sips are a little rough, but I get into it eventually. LOL
  • Yes, YES!!! Water is vitally important. I was once challenged to drink 100 ounces of water/day. I was so overwhelmed, but I took it in baby steps. And I actually learned to crave the water and got up to 160 ounces/day. Now, each body responds differently.... but I noticed a HUGE difference with my weight loss progress once…
  • A friend of mine was in a similar situation... Just a few pounds from her goal, yet content with where she was. She did HEAVY weight lifting/training (particularly ChaLEAN Extreme), and she lost another 10 pounds and HALF of her body fat. I can attest to that too (though I still have a bit of poundage to lose). So my…
  • Sure, might be inconvenient for the school.... But on when you're on your deathbed (which is hopefully far, far, far down the road), you'll be looking back at the memories you've made.... not the work you've put in to the office. Life is to LIVE!!! If you can swing it (as in able to afford, have the vacation time to use,…
  • Congrats on your TREMENDOUS progress thus far!!! I'm marking this to return to this thread. I've been stuck for about 2 months. Sitting at 195-198 (I'm 5'8"). I'd love to lose another 20 pounds, but am having a hard time. I too have played around with calories and types of foods I'm eating, as well as changing up my…
  • Welcome!! Just think of it like this.... Taking care of yourself first thing in the morning will put you in a better spot mentally, physically, and emotionally to help take care of others later. :-) Good luck on your journey... We are here for you the whole way!
  • Love this post!! I started in May 2010 with P90X, then moved onto ChaLEAN Extreme, a few weeks of Hip Hop Abs, and then the TurboFire/ChaLEAN Extreme hybrid (the latter, I'm wrapping up in a couple weeks). I love different things about them all!!! With each program (each being a 3-4 month commitment), I lost anywhere…
  • It definitely is a wonderful feeling finally getting back into the Onederlands!! Took me 43 pounds and 13 months to finally get to that glorious number!! No doubt about it - it's a LOT of HARD work. But if you're determined and committed to get there, don't let those "off" days get in your way. Wake up every morning with…
  • I think it sounds entirely reasonable. Kicks up the effort a little and makes your body work that much harder. Changes things up. Perhaps your body was just accustomed to your usual routine? Who knows... I say go for it for a few weeks and re-evaluate! :-)
  • Bump, cause I want to check those others out too!!! I started one too about 7 weeks ago: princesslmc2.tumblr.com :-)
  • My Bodybugg says I burn close to 600 calories with 60 minutes of Zumba. I also did some comapring... And your "high intensity aerobics" category in MFP is pretty close.... Close enough, anyway. :)
  • I've been there before - and it IS hard. Especially when you get the chance to actually see your friends, you don't want to have to be counting calories THEN! LOL I would try to create my to-do list and stick to it... including waking up at whatever time to do whatever exercise. After dinner, go for a walk around the…
  • It often takes time to start seeing results. Generally 2 or 3 weeks before your body really gets into a groove. And then usually about every 90 days, you need to switch it up (adjusting your diet and/or workout routine) to help avoid hitting those plateaus.
  • Right there with you!!! I've at least been able to maintain the workout regime for the last week, but I haven't been as closely monitoring what I've been eating. The scale is reflecting that too (though I know most of that 6-pound gain this last week is water weight). Today is a new day... and I'm putting my game face on.…
  • That's exactly what I was going to say. SHE has to be the one who wants this... So until she gets to the point where enough is enough, there's not much you can do. In the meantime, yes... set an example. Keep pressing on. Keep improving yourself. Keep losing more weight and toning that fine body of yours. At some point,…
  • I reached this same milestone this morning!!! It's a WONDERFUL feeling!!!! Great job!
  • You look amazing!! Great job on your journey - you should be proud!
  • Yes, keeping the caloric intake while maintaining your current eating habits WILL help you lose weight - at first, particularly if you have a lot to lose. However, as you get further along in your weight loss journey, it is essentially to start making some changes (a little at a time - don't want to get too overwhelmed).…
  • I agree with a lot of the responses. Another thing to consider... Could depend on your body frame/structure. For instance, my friends are dropping a dress size every 10 pounds... For me, it takes about 20-25 pounds to drop a size. So it all depends on your specific body carries the weight.
  • I found that as soon as I added some serious strength training in my routine, that's when the inches started melting off... though, that slowed the actual scale number down (as I was replacing fatty fat with lean muscle). Someone else also mentioned - also depends on your individual body frame make-up. In 13 months, I've…
  • This is fantastic (and I'm such a graph nerd!)... Would you be willing to share your spreadsheet? :)
  • Well, there's no time like the present to start! Go ahead and measure yourself now, so you can monitor the inches lost from here on out! :-)
  • Probably replacing your fatty fat with lean muscle... so you have denser and more lean weight, which is AWESOME!!! I've experienced the same! By chance, did you take your measurements or determine your body fat 3 months ago? Those are my largest telling areas in my progress. I'm "only" down 44 pounds in the last 13 months,…
